- etcetera, on 04/07/2009, -0/+111I don't think audiophile means what you think it means.
- harryhood53, on 04/07/2009, -0/+88Look up 'Audiophile'...then tell me that 7 websites streaming compressed music makes sense
- d3sapar3cid0, on 04/07/2009, -0/+57This isn't really a list for audiophiles. It's just a compilation of music social networking sites. Audiophile doesn't have anything to do with they kind or amount of music that you listen to. It's about the fidelity and quality of the recording...something not present with any online music streaming service.
- PatrickStankard, on 04/07/2009, -0/+52"An audiophile, from Latin audio "I hear" and Greek philos "loving," is a person, who typically listens to music on high-end audio electronics.
Audiophiles try to listen to music at a quality level that is as close to the original performance as possible using high-fidelity components. DIY audio enthusiasts build their own equipment, especially loudspeakers."

- bman85, on 04/07/2009, -0/+34Agreed, i saw the title and thought this would be about high quality music resources.
- jfluty, on 04/07/2009, -1/+23One awesome resource for audiophiles: Bittorrent.
- lostsymphonies1, on 04/07/2009, -0/+20Yeah that is just what I was thinking....none of these are good quality files, they are just places that have large collections of streaming music
- inactive, on 04/08/2009, -2/+20Audiophile does not mean "music lover".
- letdowntourist, on 04/07/2009, -0/+14Exactly. I don't see what any of these links besides Filter have to do with high quality audio. Streaming mp3s is the opposite of what an audiophile is looking for.
- Bukowsky, on 04/07/2009, -2/+14Listening to Pandora right now as I type... I also like listening to Slacker.com
- revrev, on 04/07/2009, -1/+9Gonna have to chime in like a few others: audiophiles wouldn't stand for streaming compressed audio.
I quite like it myself. - slym2k, on 04/07/2009, -0/+6www.jamendo.com is another good site to legally download free, independent music.
- RatatRatR, on 04/07/2009, -0/+5I've been hooked on Last FM for a year or so. I have my disagreements with some things about it, but it's a great site.

Great free web app that allows you to listen to music from your home computer on any remote PC, iPhone etc... - fallout49, on 04/07/2009, -1/+4I love Pandora on the iPhone, but after a while it starts to repeat songs. Slacker has a great selection, but also has commercials.
- CuedUp, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3How about thesixtyone.com? Great place to just listen your workday away....love that site!
- Avaseal, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3Precisely. Streaming 128kbps != High Fidelity Audio
edit: nor iTunes or Amazon.com downloads for that matter. - McDermott, on 04/07/2009, -5/+8Pandora FTW. Last.fm for the Eh.
- verynegative, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3Spotify is by far the best thing. I have learned about great new bands just by browsing by genre. The interface is so simple and beautiful and it works very fast.
I liked thesixtyone, but some changes they made were not good, now you cant browse bu sub-genre. - epheterson, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3I'm appalled that Grooveshark didn't find it's way on this list.
Any song you want, on demand. Grooveshark
http://www.grooveshark.com - DredPir8Robrts, on 04/08/2009, -0/+3http://www.somafm.com (I'm a big fan of the "Secret Agent" station, but they're all great)
- WorldLeader, on 04/07/2009, -2/+5AmieStreet.com has a cool pricing system where each song starts out at 1 cent and gradually increases as popularity increases (up to a max of $0.98 per track). It's a great place to find bargains on high quality indie albums that are fairly obscure. It's not free, but some of the albums are only a buck or two.
- BrianCrosbie, on 04/07/2009, -0/+3Not sure how it's possible that The Hype Machine did not get on the list? http://hypem.com
The Hype Machine kills all. - Retrokid, on 04/07/2009, -1/+4IMHO, http://www.thesixtyone.com should be on that list.
Digg-type voting with reputation-point system.
Some nice downloadable songs too... - CardHockman, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2really, last.fm? the tagging data there is so messy and the auto-correct even gets titles wrong sometimes. www.rateyourmusic.com is all you need for the social aspect, and a private tracker for the actual music
- OrSoItGoes, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2Streaming audio is fantastic when bands release their records weeks in advanced, but I wouldn't listen to it beyond that. When the record is finally released I prefer the vinyl and a really great set of headphones. There's seriously nothing better.
- peters1023, on 04/07/2009, -2/+4iPod.
- McMaster88, on 04/07/2009, -1/+3what waffle are you speaking of, I have everything I need.
- novakaine, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2This site seems to be suffering from the Digg factor.
mirror please - miggyb, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2di.fm and sky.fm
$7 a month for 54 radio stations at 256kbps. - elliotm01, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2Not audiophile sites. Buried as inaccurate.
- Tecton1c, on 04/08/2009, -0/+2Nice, thanks.
- babaduchi, on 04/07/2009, -1/+3I feel like I've seen this list a million times already. Who comes to digg and not know about last.fm or pandora?
Also, buried for misuse of the term "audiophile." - TeekOnHoliday, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2in no particular order:
1) Blip.fm
2) Last.fm
3) Pandora.com
4) JamLegend.com
5) FilterMusic.net
6) Live365.com
7) GollyDay.com - PopcornDave, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1I'm surprised nobody's mentioned RadioIO.com. It's got a few commercials or a paid no commercial option but you can get a 32, 64 or 128k stream and they've got a good selection of channels. I just wish they had a punk channel but for the office it's wonderful to have on as background music.
- kalkin, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1allow me to contribute.

- Oddish, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1Yes, captain obvious, that's what etcetera just said.
- RooX, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1Funny all these comments about Audiophiles.
I consider myself one, have 10's of thousands in 2-channel stereo gear, and yet at this moment I happen to be listening to last.fm.
Most audiophiles I know are equally into the music itself as the gear. - chattin, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1http://justhearit.com/ - An excellent resource for a quick listen.
- Tecton1c, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1Yes. I have been hooked on di.fm for a few months now...it introduced me to Electro House, which is frequently awesome but sometimes disappointing.
- Boofster, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1di is the og
- neuber, on 04/08/2009, -1/+2eh... I like the interface, but the music is lacking in the Scandinavian death metal department.
- javiero, on 04/07/2009, -0/+1#8 Bandsintown.com how come that one is not there?
