nbc11.com — From the Boss to Ozzy, these pictures show how rockers from the past have aged gracefully -- or not so gracefully.

(relatively recent) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v188/snicks/01_0 ... (not for the faint hearted) - weareglass, on 04/10/2008, -2/+2(Yawn)
- nikkesen, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1To their credit, these are tasteful pictures and do a great job of showing the differences.
- 5urr3al5am, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1should have included Petty
- nahsrocketeer75, on 04/10/2008, -16/+9Bruce will still be the boss when he's 70.
- dlm85, on 04/10/2008, -3/+3I saw him a couple weeks ago and he put on a great 2-1/2 hour show. The Boss still moved around quite a bit, but didn't jump off the piano. Clarence Clemons on the other hand was having a lot of trouble walking around on stage. He had to be helped from the stage after the show.
- oldhick, on 04/10/2008, -2/+5Who the hell diggs down the Boss? If you can't dig Nebraska then damn...
- dlm85, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Are you referring to the CD Nebraska or the song? That song is very dark. http://brucespringsteen.net/songs/Nebraska.html
Reason to Believe and Johnny 99 are favorites from Nebraska.- oldhick, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1The album of course! Johnny 99 is fantastic as is State Trooper.
- dlm85, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Are you referring to the CD Nebraska or the song? That song is very dark. http://brucespringsteen.net/songs/Nebraska.html
- beloitpiper, on 04/10/2008, -3/+2People don't like the Boss' message anymore because there's no more blue-collar workers. They can't relate.
- dlm85, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Have you listened to Magic? The blue collar message is gone.
- p51d007, on 04/10/2008, -3/+1People don't like the boss, because he's pushing POLITICS at his concerts! I want to be entertained...not preached to.
If I wanted to have politics, I'd watch tv.- dlm85, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3I guess singers who have different views than your can't voice their opinions. Did you also think is was wrong for Chuck Norris to push his politics? I doubt it. I get tired of the "liberal entertainers" BS that some people are programmed to repeat.
- whitezombie420, on 04/10/2008, -3/+43the caption for the ozzy pic says he used to bite the heads off of bats on stage, thats inaccurate, that only happened once, and it was an accident. some one replaced the FAKE bat that he normally would have used with a real bat, i dont remember the exact circumstance, but i do know that he didnt bite the heads off real bats on purpose. although he did really bite the head off of a dove once on purpose.
- Cornloaf, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6It also said something about Gene Simmons outgrowing his costume. Last I saw, they still toured with all their costumes and makeup. At least they did in their "Final We Really Mean it This is It! Tour"
- shibagarden, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1They tend to violate two primary rules of caption writing in this slide show: they state either the obvious or the inaccurate.
- petebot, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2How ya doin', Cleveland! How's everybody feelin' out there? You ready to rock! Allllright!
- lennybird, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1It says "Where one of his stage acts was to..." - That doesn't mean every concert.
- Cornloaf, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6It also said something about Gene Simmons outgrowing his costume. Last I saw, they still toured with all their costumes and makeup. At least they did in their "Final We Really Mean it This is It! Tour"
- rogerdonaldson, on 04/10/2008, -3/+5Yup, the dove thing happened in front of record execs he wanted to shock. Bet it worked.
- floppyparty, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3"Oh crap, this isn't going so well....I think it's time for the ol' bite the head off a dove routine"
- twertyto, on 04/10/2008, -2/+14That was a trip. You never think of these legends as young. I'm 30 years old now and its just freaky to see what most of these guys looked like when they were younger than me. I never felt so old. I should get used to it.
- Dylson, on 04/10/2008, -16/+4***** THE RIAA!!!
- mrsneakypat, on 04/10/2008, -0/+47It's actually more of a now and then format.
- hexydes, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3Yeah, that was annoying. I actually started clicking on the "Then" first, and then progressing to the "Now" after that.
- loopis, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3Yeah how about an actual side by side instead of ***** annoying side scrolling piece of ***** user interface.
- mytibt, on 04/10/2008, -2/+13From these pics, Van Halen seems to have fared the best, all drugs considering
- spinaltap87, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Leatherface you mean?
- baralo, on 04/10/2008, -0/+0...ask him about his throat.
- NeoCon4Life, on 04/10/2008, -3/+4dug for eddie
- inspecality, on 04/10/2008, -1/+23"It's better to burn out than to fade away"
- petervenkman, on 04/10/2008, -15/+28God I hate Springsteen.
- Kronos6948, on 04/10/2008, -8/+2I used to feel the same way...until his music started to relate to me (in other words, I started getting old!)
- texpundit, on 04/10/2008, -3/+3I liked his early stuff, but his newer stuff does absolutely nothing for me.
- Niubai, on 04/10/2008, -6/+1Agreed. The first music that comes in my mind is the "born in the U.S. gay", damn, that music is so annoying for the non born in the usa.
- Kronos6948, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2I can't stand that song either. Although, that song is about how ***** it was to be a Viet Nam Vet.
- dsmx, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Still funny when good old Ronny used it though.
- Kronos6948, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2I can't stand that song either. Although, that song is about how ***** it was to be a Viet Nam Vet.
- mattlphoto, on 04/10/2008, -6/+13Well, it was cool till I almost puked from the Tina Turner pic.
- Doomsan, on 04/10/2008, -1/+15I think it would've been better to first show the old pic, and then the "now"
- ancalagon73, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1No kidding. It's like the stupid sites that start a top 10 list with number 1.
- Gregsaw, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1just start at the end if that's what you want
- sequethin, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4Do you want to do what you're doing now in 30+ years? Will you be as good at it or better? Will anyone care? Food for thought...
- rgough, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1In 30+ years I will be in my 80's. I just hope that at that time my favorite food isn't apple sauce.
- dhVyse, on 04/10/2008, -4/+10NBCs sites ALL don't work right with Opera. EPIC FAIL.
- 5urr3al5am, on 04/10/2008, -8/+1yeah Epic fail.. for the 1% of the apple users out there.. Epic fail!
- krakelohm, on 04/10/2008, -3/+6So many things wrong with that post where should I begin?
- PixelD, on 04/10/2008, -1/+4not Safari you *****
- Heembo, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Safari+Opera=1% or less of the browser market=*****
- dsmx, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2I'm sure all 5 of you are really annoyed. (joke before you get all bent out of shape)
- 5urr3al5am, on 04/10/2008, -8/+1yeah Epic fail.. for the 1% of the apple users out there.. Epic fail!
- Pirate45, on 04/10/2008, -4/+13Back when rock used to be cool.
- michael43, on 04/10/2008, -3/+6There's no such thing as "rock" anymore. It's just ***** rap and wigger music.
- krnldmp, on 04/10/2008, -2/+7Rock is still the essence of cool. There just isn't anyone new coming out that knows how to ***** play it.
- PeterODactyl, on 04/10/2008, -1/+8Enjoy youth while you have it cuz getting old sucks.
- michael43, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6I doubt it sucks too bad for those guys. They can still get the best looking young girls and pretty much anything they want with their money and fame. Now for the rest of us..........ummmmmm....never mind, you were right.
- Bersy, on 04/10/2008, -1/+6Wow I hadn't realized what geezers some of these guys have become. And Tina Turner is in her late 60's now? She hadn't even become famous til she was basically 40.. now we think of people as past their prime when they're 30 it seems.. I'm turning 30, so ***** that. Life is just beginning.
- rgough, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Only KIDS think of people as "past their prime" when they turn 30. Also, Tina Turner was plenty famous when she was in her 20's when she was with Ike. She had her comeback when she around 40.
- guimonkey, on 04/10/2008, -2/+12Is that Chris Katan or David Lee Roth?
- petebot, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Bosey Bosey Bop!
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Biddie Bop!
- topgigmedia, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2never could understand the combover
- petebot, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Bosey Bosey Bop!
- minorthreat, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6they still get ozzy and the bat story wrong. He was biting the heads off of fake bats and someone threw a real bat on stage
- hiro, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Journalists never let the truth get in the way of a good story!
- Anorexorcist, on 04/10/2008, -10/+5Yea, cobain knew what he was doing....
- hooqy, on 04/10/2008, -7/+5Bruce is great
- micahwilli, on 04/10/2008, -4/+5Ringo FTW!
Billy Joel gets the fail. - BriVaps, on 04/10/2008, -4/+0the lead singer of KISS needs to use some conditioner in his full head of dead split end and dry ugly hair
- michael43, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1He thinks you're ugly too.
- mikelist, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1if i could have a full head of hair again, i could give a rat's ass how ugly you thought it was. in fact, ...
- seandfeeney, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Surprisingly there isn't much of a difference besides wrinkles
- hiro, on 04/10/2008, -2/+8Some of those are a bit "B list" but the biggest shock for me was Pat Benatar; I used to lust after her when I was young but, oh dear, women don't wear well!
- Haroshia, on 04/10/2008, -2/+23Men age like wine. Women age like milk.
- michael43, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4lol, I hope you don't mind if I use that quote on my wife. I haven't been slapped really good in a week or two.
- SenorCardgage74, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3She still looks good......just a little more......spherical.
- Haroshia, on 04/10/2008, -2/+23Men age like wine. Women age like milk.
- jefree, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4I'm impressed with the comparison photos chosen. The article didn't try to find the "worse" older photo that could be found. Instead both young and old photos were generally the star in a good photo op mood or position.
- stfucupcake, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Billy Joel's teeth are so big, white and shiny now
- topgigmedia, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1keeps them clean with all of the scotch he drinks
- Mercury821, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2So is his head.
- fridgetarian, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1He's "twinkling" those ivories!
- petebot, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1OK, Billy Joel put out records in the 70's, but I think Van Halen is a bit of a stretch.
- obijohn, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3Van Halen's first two albums came out in the 70's ('78 and '79 to be exact).
- roemcke, on 04/10/2008, -3/+3burried for using flash to show pictures
- allengeer, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1When I saw the young Gene Simmons photo... all I could think was (a la Saturday Night Live Skit) "Sassy!"
- rainydaywoman, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1All I could think of was Nick, his son. Anyone got a towel?
- shadowspawn, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3Gene wasn't the lead singer. He was the money maker, the little jewish poor kid who made good. For himself only, however, which is good when you die alone you have only your true love by your side... money.
- beloitpiper, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3I really wish these were side-by-side.
- megaton, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1I think they got those Rolling Stones pics reversed...
- lilwagon, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2hmmmmmm KNTV with ANOTHER successful spamming of a non local story.... driving up "hits" to their site AGAIN ... so they can SHANK some poor s.o.b. local adverstiser. FAAAAAAAAAN-TASIC!
- koft, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Inaccurate title, it's "now, and then"
- quisph, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Another good example is Ray Davies, who went from this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2GmzyeeXnQ
to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2b1D5w82yU - Soonago, on 04/10/2008, -0/+9Jesus. I didn't realize Bruce Springsteen made Born to Run when he was my current age, 24. It makes me feel bad for what I haven't accomplished, but it's also very inspiring. Sorry for the cheese.
- SenorCardgage74, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3I did my ten year HS reunion 6 years ago.
At 28 years old the average person looks way the ***** worse than most of these dudes did at 40 and some do at 60.
Persepctive, yall. - Snakedal337, on 04/10/2008, -0/+7Ringo has held up pretty well for being 67
- RoloTomasie, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6A nice synthesis. Ringo does look great for 67.
- buu2, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1What? No Ray Davies from the Kinks. I just heard him live Sat, and he still does incredibly well for being in his late 60's.
- verynegative, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2No Page and Plant, no digg.
- hagbard69, on 04/10/2008, -1/+0Ummm, don't you mean tickling the ivories?
- rasinhussy, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1"Rock and Roll ain't noise pollution, Rock and Roll is just Rock and Roll!!!!"
- chesscat, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Apt title since most of these guys are in their sixties and seventies.
- phanfromcheese, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Gene Simmons blows...so does KISS for that matter. I can't believe they don't have a pic of Bob Dylan.
- synyster, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3dugg for rock and roll
- oblivionatm, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2We're running through the shadows of the night!
- synyster, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1i bet you £100 that most of them are deaf now
