- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I wonder which ass clown owns the rights? Micheal Jackson or YoKo Ono. Neither deserve it.

Since when does buying something mean you deserve it.
Personally, I don't care too much for money, money can't buy you talent.
No no no, no - htaler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8500 tapes with 200 covers? Some of them are two tapes long?
- Skunkhair, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9"I wrote this song in '94."

"Michael Jackson is a perfectly respectable person..."
That's where I stopped taking you seriously. - chench, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, but as the article mentions most of these tracks are probably covers of R&R standards so The Gloved One would make nothing from that. Whoever owns the rights to "Great Balls of Fire", "Tutti Frutti", etc. would make out well. As well as the Beatles and their estates.
- jcpudd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I am not a big Beatles fan, but I think it's really cool that they have found tapes that are 35 years old and fans are *hopefully* going to be able to listen to them.
Of course there are times where this can be overdone (i.e. Tupac). - elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Is Tupac on any of these tracks?
- DullJokerman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually, Jackson doesn't own rights to as many Beatles songs anymore anyway. During his last financial squeeze, he had to sell some of them. I'm not sure how many, but I know Paul's bought some of them back.
- brownspank, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Give us some torrent links already!!!
- VortexICS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Very interesting, I hope those tapes are good enough to be reproduced and perhaps released to the public.
- aliguana, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5no, there are 500 tapes of the Beatie Boys in the studio, messing around, talking, strumming etc. But amonst that lot are 200 cover versions (not 200 different songs though).
hold on, I've confused myself.... (not hard) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I hope these get cleaned up and released soon!
- MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh the irony if someone were to sue them for covering there songs.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Michael Jackson owns the rights to the Beatles songs so he would profit from any CD sales if these tracks are released. Considering his current financial situation, I would guess he would be happy that these songs have been found. A nice windfall for him.
- chuckayoub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great Beatles Lyrics and rare sounds clips:
http://home.att.net/~chuckayoub/the_beatles_lyrics.html - CCRider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Most of the content of these tapes are already available through bootlegs. Just search for the "Complete Get Back Sessions" series of CDs, and the "Get Back" double DVD.
- rbvmusic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Meh we already have "Rock and Roll Music" and "Money (That's What I Want)". I'm fine with those.
- BobOrleans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder if there are any tapes of Michael Jackson "messing around."
- paulisnotdead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This makes my day
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sure Heather Mills is already staking her claim to some portion of these recordings' value.
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He's severly eclectic sure, and I'm not sure what kind of mental state he would have had to be in to get that done to his nose, but as yet there has been no real evidence that he has done anything to anyone else, apart from a few kids whose parents probably told them to make these accusations because they want easy money. If you find someone is impossible to respect just because people make horrible accusations, that can't be proven, and they are obviously a little (or alot) crazy, then there are alot of respectable people you'll be unable to respect.
Now if he actually HAS done the things he's accused of, and it is proven, then sure, he loses ALL respect, but until something happens that actually discredits him, other than rumors and unsubstantiated accusations, I wil continue to respect the insane guy who made alot of very cool music.
Fell free to digg this down. I don't much care who you respect, and what you believe. (And I'm sure that there are people with far worse ideas of respectable) - pyrotherm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0God, I sure hope not, I would have to kill someone!
- slicedoranges, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2This made front page DAYS ago.
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2As iggr said (and was dugg down for), the rights were paid for... Further, neither owns to TOTAL rights to any of the songs, only parts, such as the publishing rights. On the whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing, Michael Jackson is a perfectly respectable person, who certainly is very wierd, but released some damn good music in his time, this made him alot of money, and he can spend that on whatever he likes. If I had the chance to buy the publishing rights to all the Beatles songs, I would do so in a heart beat. Even if it's not tangible, it's a huge piece of psudeo-memorabilia, and is going to make you a killing in royalties... Anyone who thinks he's an "ass clown" who doesn't deserve them, is just a jealous "donkey entertainer" (read "ass clown").
- oslointhesummer, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0I was hoping for a little Biggie Smalls.
- jggr, on 10/12/2007, -15/+6Really? They bought them, didn't they? How do they not deserve them?
