- jordantneff, on 11/20/2008, -0/+21Apparently there were no good follow up albums in the past decade
- Typhoon2009, on 11/20/2008, -0/+16Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
Classic thrash albums, and both sophomore efforts. - mrgrubbage, on 11/20/2008, -0/+16Where the hell is Paranoid?
- starphish, on 11/20/2008, -0/+15Led Zeppelin II
- DirectTulip, on 11/20/2008, -1/+15Great to see Steely Dan on the list!
- brown2hm, on 11/20/2008, -1/+15Dugg for Neutral Milk Hotel. If you haven't heard "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea", go give it a listen... or 10.
- Homest4r, on 11/20/2008, -1/+14Great list
(one that both doesn't suck and is limited to two pages) - Yimyack, on 11/20/2008, -0/+13Wow...nothing from this century. I'm shocked.
(Note that RIAA - YOU SUCK!!!!) - victoryguy, on 11/20/2008, -0/+12Da Copa's Love album are a really great and important band with every right to at least two slots in your CD rack
- hoegaarden, on 03/31/2009, -1/+11oasis - what's the story morning glory
- Jempina, on 11/20/2008, -4/+13Dugg for The Smiths and Radiohead, two of the best British bands ever.
- Manolyk, on 11/20/2008, -0/+9Astral Weeks is one of the best records of all time, imo
- annjay, on 11/20/2008, -0/+9Hendrix, Love and 13th Floor Elevators - a psychedelic triumvirate!
- Prod_Deity, on 11/20/2008, -1/+104 words: Vulgar Display Of Power.
I win. - capnawesome, on 11/20/2008, -0/+9Rage Against the Machine...Evil Empire
- ethbone, on 11/20/2008, -1/+9Dugg for Neutral Milk Hotel. Always gotta Digg for Neutral Milk Hotel. In the same vein I would have added Black Foliage Animation Music by Olivia Tremor Control.
- bgeveritt, on 11/20/2008, -4/+12No TOOL...weird...
- ABJ974, on 11/20/2008, -0/+7Great second efforts here. Curtis Mayfield, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley all great musicians who are now gone but their music lives on. Great post.
- ncapone, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6Dugg for Talking Heads.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6I know it's widely known that Second Coming, the Stone Roses' second album is *****, but I really dig it. I know they were trying to go all 'Zeppelin on us and had pretty giant egos, but the first track alone is fantastic.
The rest of the list is great. VU's White Light/White Heat is my least favorite VU Lou Reed era album. - Bic823, on 11/20/2008, -2/+8Dugg for Being There, The Bends, and In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. All amazing albums. Loveless is also heartbreakingly good.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -1/+7radiohead - the bends
- jjfac, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6Bleach was better than Nevermind in the 20th century too. I remember, I was there.
- fictionalOne, on 11/20/2008, -1/+7Or, you should have title this "Follow-Up Albums of Emo Bands that suck and would never make any list other than Emo Music" Sorry, but Thursday is the worst band I have ever heard in my life. And I even have a Get UP Kids album, so I can tolerate some emo.
- S7aind, on 11/20/2008, -0/+6Foo Fighters - Colour and the Shape
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5First thing I thought of too, thumbed :)
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5Says you.
- UNL1M1T3D, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5Dugg for restating it.
- infernal6, on 11/20/2008, -2/+7Also Dugg for Neutral Milk Hotel. Every time you listen to it you think "god this is horrible," yet it is strangely appealing and awesome, so you always listen to it again.
- fictionalOne, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5^ The Get Up Kids are not new music, so goes to show what you really do know. I saw them live about 8 years ago. That's where I get all my new music, live shows. And, I don't own an iPod, so I guess you are just full of wrong. Oh, and the show was full of pre-emo (emo was not quite fully developed yet) kids that loved Mineral. You remember that band? It was the foundation for emo. I don't think you really want to argue music with me. Remember, Emo is short for emotional. If the get up kids did not write emotional music, then I must have seen a different band.
- Clinojim, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5See page 2...
- zappa027, on 11/20/2008, -1/+6Great list, but it's missing Nevermind and Odelay.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+5yes, i know its on there. just felt like restating it
- ireland88, on 11/20/2008, -1/+6Good list I would also add
Elliot Smith - Self Titled
Built To Spill - There's nothing wrong with love
Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West
Pinback - Blue Screen Life
Explosions in the Sky - Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+4Like any of you losers bought Bleach before Nevermind.
- Hetman, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4Dirt is one of the best albums of all times.
- Spartacusprime, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4@fictionalOne: I joined just to digg you up for Mineral. Although I would argue the foundation for emo goes back to Rites of Spring, still nice to see somebody else who thinks of emo as more than Pete Wentz.
- inactive, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4I believe the list is more focused on bands who had successful debut albums.
- LucerinRed, on 11/20/2008, -2/+6Dugg for The Boss. So many good songs on that album, Rosalita is my fav. I look forward to him at the Super Bowl this year.
The lack of comments about Mr. Springsteen definitely show the age of diggers. - Bic823, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4Don't worry, anytime anybody gets into a discussion about Shoegaze, Post-Rock, or Radiohead on the internet you end up sounding like a music snob. Just learn to accept it. I did. :D
- MCA2142, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4how did I get here?
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4No, there's plenty of good music being made out there, but you won't hear it on the top 40. The pop culture of music has sunk right into the ***** ever since rap/r&b became utterly devoid of substance, record companies convinced teenie boppers made good music, and boy bands were a legitimate musical enterprise. Anyone who listens to the radio anymore, and thinks they are really hearing some great music likely doesn't know what good music is.
People thought "Who Let The Dogs Out" and "Thong Song" were good. They sold millions. That's unfortunate, but it doesn't mean there isn't any good music being made. It's just that ***** has taken center stage for reasons I will never understand. - zip000, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4He's just freaking amazing, that's all.
"In The Aeroplane Over the Sea" is, I think, the only album that I have that will make me cry. And it doesn't make you cry because it is maudlin or saccharin or sappy; it's just beautiful. - leif77, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4well to be fair hendrix only had 3 and they were all legendary.
- zip000, on 11/20/2008, -0/+3I always denigrated Springsteen; he just seemed so overrated. But then I happened to pick up his first album, then second, then third. His first three are just so amazingly good.
He's got good stuff after that too, but nothing compares to the first three. -
