- trogscave, on 01/10/2009, -3/+74Buried for Rush not being on the list.
- pandemik, on 01/10/2009, -3/+65How the ***** is Rush not on this list??? I certainly agree with the Cars, but KISS? Come on...
At least it was on one page... - ninswift, on 01/09/2009, -4/+37The Cure not being in is just WRONG
- QuackAttack818, on 01/10/2009, -2/+35I find your lack of Rush disturbing...
- ogre2112, on 01/10/2009, -2/+33This list blows. Where is Rush!
- Charbanned, on 01/09/2009, -2/+29I can't believe The Cure and Tom Waits were never inducted.
- kd420, on 01/10/2009, -1/+28I won't bury this but... RUSH!
From Wikipedia: "According to the RIAA, Rush's sales statistics place them fourth behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold or platinum albums by a rock band" - RavagesOfTime, on 01/10/2009, -2/+27Yes. Not mentioning Rush is worthy of a bury.
- DarKrow, on 01/10/2009, -2/+23DEVO.
One of the first rock bands to use a synthesizer as anything more than either a) a glorified organ, and b) silly spacey textural stuff, and also one of the most conceptually important bands in history. Their influence is everywhere, if you look. They've been covered by the likes of Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Death Cab for Cutie, They Might Be Giants, Soundgarden, and many more. (Okay, and Robert Palmer. Nobody's perfect.) Their unique visual style and angular sound defined the 80s New Wave revolution and are still being aped and mimicked today.
DEVO should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hell, they're from Ohio anyway! Akron! Just a few miles south of Cleveland! INDUCT DEVO NOW! ARE WE NOT MEN? WE ARE DEVO! - grapeguy, on 01/10/2009, -2/+22Where is Rush! WTF?
- tehchicken, on 01/10/2009, -3/+232 Words.
KISS sucks. - ModernChem, on 01/10/2009, -2/+22I cant believe he tried to compare most of those guys to The Eagles and Billy Joel.
- Checkerd, on 01/10/2009, -1/+21Dugg for Tom Waits

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCbMw9oDgB0& - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+20How about Rush?
- bossm4n, on 01/10/2009, -0/+19Madonna is in. Run DMC is being inducted this year and still no Rush. Rock n Roll HoF has about as much credibility as Rolling Stone Magazine.
- SonnyJoeFoxx, on 01/10/2009, -1/+18My pick: Blue Öyster Cult.
Forget "More Cowbell" - they're really good. - DaviDTC, on 01/10/2009, -2/+18Has anyone noticed they didn't include Rush?
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+15The Rock and Roll "Hall of Fame" is a joke anyhow. Rappers are in it. MADONNA'S IN IT. I can understand inducting acts/musicians who prefaced rock (blues, country, etc.), but how they ***** are you going to put Madonna into a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and still expect anyone to take you seriously?
Also, it's stupid to have an institution devoted to an art form that is, at its heart, anti-institutions. Bands should wear it as a badge of pride when the Hall doesn't want them. - Stupidtourist, on 01/10/2009, -1/+12Rush should be a no-brainer, buried because they weren't mentioned on the list.
- fthead9, on 01/10/2009, -0/+11The Cure not being a member is a joke. Most of the other choices have merit especially in light of some of the groups/artists that are in but even if you don't like their music The Cure has been a huge influence for almost 30 years now. Give them their due.
- mrtword, on 01/10/2009, -0/+11No Rush, no digg. Although count me in for The Cars as well. If for nothing more than the mere fact that he produced Weezer's first album.
- compgeek, on 01/10/2009, -9/+19KISS, The Cars and Kraftwerk were never inducted? FAIL!
KISS is the only the most recognizable hard rock band of the last 40 years, The Cars are just plain awesome and Kraftwerk pioneered electronica - flamesrule, on 01/10/2009, -3/+12No kidding. Ripping on The Eagles? This guy should know a little about music before he writes about it.
- Dealjobber, on 01/10/2009, -0/+9Hell yeah, Motorhead. Lemmy doesn't give a ***** if he gets in or not, though.
- DarKrow, on 01/10/2009, -0/+9Try again. To quote Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons: "So I bought it. I took it home, I put it on. It was the worst track ever. They're not even trying! They're just playing... randomly. But then I thought, Frank Zappa produced it so maybe if I play it again, and I thought... It sounds horrible but they mean it sound this way. And about the third or fourth time it started to grow on me. In the fifth or sixth time, I loved it. And the seventh or eighth time I thought it was the greatest album ever made. And I still do."
- 0260, on 01/10/2009, -2/+10They should keep Kiss out just to piss them off. Tom Waits is way cool.
- videodroner, on 01/10/2009, -0/+8Dugg for having the entire list on one page.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+8Still not inducted:
Sammy Davis Jr., John Coltrane, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, The Big Bopper, The Kingston Trio, Chubby Checker, Joan Baez, Glen Campbell, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Diamond, Al Jarreau, Richie Havens, Tom Jones, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Big Brother & the Holding Company, Country Joe & the Fish, Genesis, Iron Butterfly, Jethro Tull, Steve Miller Band, Alice Cooper, Chicago, Grand Funk Railroad, Humble Pie, James Gang, Joe Cocker, Kool & the Gang, John Denver, Warren Zevon, Charlie Daniels, Derek and the Dominos, Diana Ross, Don McLean, The J. Geils Band,
Jimmy Buffett, Kris Kristofferson, Todd Rundgren, The Doobie Brothers, Meat Loaf, Thin Lizzy,
Blue Öyster Cult, Lou Reed, Peter Frampton, The Marshall Tucker Band, Rush, Tom Waits, Bad Company, Judas Priest, Robert Palmer, Journey, Ted Nugent, Bootsy Collins, George Thorogood, Iggy Pop, Motörhead, Black Flag, The Cars, Chaka Khan, Devo, Dire Straits, Rick James, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Afrika Bambaataa, Huey Lewis and The News, INXS, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Ozzy Osbourne, Bad Religion, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Mötley Crüe, Beastie Boys, George Clinton, Sonic Youth, Violent Femmes,
Anthrax, Bon Jovi, NOFX, Pantera, Slayer, The Smiths, Social Distortion, Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Some of these named above may not be your cup of tea, but the majority of them are icons and not in the HOF.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke and is only around to bring in money for the people who thought it up. - hypnosmurf, on 01/10/2009, -1/+9I could really give a damn who gets in. It's about as worthless as winning a grammy. I listen to what I like because I like it not because someone else does.
- Browzer, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7No T-Rex? How in the world can the "rock and roll" hall of fame not have the guy responsible for this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDr2sW875ck - tomarocco, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7The ***** Cars?
Every song on their first two albums just oozes Rock-N-Roll. They're quintessential in a way that no other band can touch. - grabadores, on 01/10/2009, -2/+9I ***** hate the Eagles.
- sadilak, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7No Gn'R. Rush is fine/
- leamanc, on 01/10/2009, -1/+7Seriously? You may not be into a lot of these bands, but I'd say most people have at least heard of these bands. Can is kind of an obscure choice, but do you think bands like The Cars, The Cure and The Stooges belong only to elitists that "only cool people" know about?
- spaceman84, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6***** you man! You don't like my ***** music, get your own ***** cab! I pull over and kick your ass out, man!
- yugosakimi, on 01/10/2009, -4/+10The Cure, the Zombies, AND Joy Division are on this list? WTF!!
- gothelium, on 01/10/2009, -3/+9Another bury for lack of Rush. As Stephen Colbert would put it,
"That's *****." - absurdist, on 01/10/2009, -1/+6@Deathjack: Go back to listening to Hannah Montana and the Jonas brothers and let the grownups talk now, mmmkay?
- iignotus, on 01/10/2009, -3/+8RUSH!??!??! WHY NO RUSH!??!
- XBebop, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5Everybody has forgotten about one of the most influential rockers of all time: Alice Cooper.
- hypnosmurf, on 01/10/2009, -1/+6Sales aren't a great indicator of a good music. But Rush does kick ass!
- gttim, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5No *****! 30+ years, still making incredible music, incredible musicianship and tons of younger acts citing them as an influence. Not to mention Neil "*****" Peart! What more do you want?
- NiceGuyMike, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5I was hoping I wasn't the only one thinking and doing that.
I was actually expecting to see them in first place. - ncapone, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5Dugg for Kraftwerk, Can and Roxy Music. I was not expecting to see them on the list, but it needs more NEU! and The Stooges, but less Kiss.
(The Stooges still haven't made it, have they?) - leamanc, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5It's their first year of eligibility. Let's give them a chance to get elected before we call it a travesty that they didn't get in.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5completely agree but please don't use the word "electronica"
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -1/+5Mark E. Smith and The Fall should be on this list, except for the fact that far too many people have never heard of them. That's a dumb reason, he's one of the greatest rock/punk geniuses ever. And if you ask most of the alt bands you admire, most of them would put Spacemen 3 on this list too, even though they're not that well-known either. That hall of fame is more like grammies anyway, recognizing commercial contribution more than influence or artistic merit. lots of ***** made the cut.
And I think Rush is so incredibly cliche. Loved them back in the day, but i had a mullet then. - maqikelefant, on 01/10/2009, -1/+5Buried for insinuating that The Eagles, Billy Joel, The Mamas and the Papas don't belong in the Hall. That automatically makes this douchebag a musical moron. And buried because, except for a select few, this list sucks. Motorhead and KISS? Are you ***** kidding me?
- msflower97, on 01/10/2009, -0/+4That is my new favorite website.
