- gavroche, on 07/03/2008, -7/+46I am surprised that Nirvana's Nevermind cover from Robert Fisher was not part of the list. There were concerns that Spencer Elden's penis would offend people but Cobain said that he would only hide it with a sticker that said "If this offend you, you probably are a closet pedophile." That album cover is a must for this list.
http://www.google.com/search?q=nirvana+nevermind - michaelpinto, on 07/03/2008, -5/+32How can you write an entire article about album covers and not mention one word about the designers behind them?
- wontstoptalking, on 07/03/2008, -0/+8The Comments Suck™
Sorry, it's mine, you can't say that anymore. - deadfrank, on 07/03/2008, -1/+7where the ***** is Lateralus?
- CarStan, on 07/03/2008, -0/+6The album was very real, so was its black cover.
And i find it kind of strange to include Metallica's cover, without at least mentioning Tap's, wich gave them the idea. - wontstoptalking, on 07/03/2008, -3/+9HEY GUYS GUYS GUYS HOW ABOUT "insert album her" I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT ON THERE WHAT A STUPID ARTICLE
- DrCrankenstein, on 07/03/2008, -2/+7They mention them for the last 5, but yeah... the designers are important.
- chicken101, on 07/03/2008, -2/+6You know that's (basically) not a real band, right?
lol - retawd, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4Have you seen the Scorpions' original cover for Virgin Killer?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Killer - bleutuna, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Buried because I can't click the album's and make them bigger. How lame.
- inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Screw that album, it doesn't belong on the list.
- ausfahrt, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4No click to enlarge. Nice work when your article hinges on the content of those non enlargeable pictures.
- CarStan, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3I can't agree more with you.
I only clicked the article to look if it had Sgt. Peppers, Dark Side, and Nevermind.
Whenever i think Nirvana, or Grunge, or even 90's, this peni- eh, cover comes to my mind. - inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3I'll just do a shameless Yoda rip off.
Suck these comments do. - inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Honorable mentions

- inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2What about Spinal Tap's Smell the Glove? It's like, how much more black could it be? And the answer is none. None more black.
- bdbr, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Wouldn't that be more likely the case if you ENJOYED it?
Personally I found it neither great nor offensive. - Shakermaker, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2It seems like this list starts out as being all about album aovers but about halfway in starts becoming about the content more than the covers themselves....
- wontstoptalking, on 07/03/2008, -1/+3Dark Side of the Moon and Abbey Road (Pink Floyd and The Beatles) will forever be my favorite album covers. And favorite albums. By my favorite bands.
- BrandonKutzler, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division, anyone?
- ConceptualTrap, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1uh...the entire article is about the album COVERS
That Prodigy cover is arguably the most memorable electronica album cover of all time. Hell, I don't even listen to electronica and I knew what album that was. - wontstoptalking, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1All I saw in that movie was Jim Carrey. He should not be doing those movies. He should go back to the good movies he was in.
Beaches are fun! - BevansDesign, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1It's a shame that they went to all that trouble on Sgt. Pepper when these days we can put it all together in an afternoon in Photoshop.
You'd think that would mean we'd have better album covers these days, but... - poet, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Strom Thorgerson is the best album designer there is. Dark Side of the Moon?
He currently designs albums for The Mars Volta since the break-up of Pink Floyd. - codyman, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I have pyromania on vinyl actually.... found it in amoeba's dollar bin
- wontstoptalking, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1According to Wikipedia, one of the Beatles (Paul, I think? Look it up if you need to know) wanted Hitler as one of the cardboard cutouts. To balance it, he said they should also put Jesus. It's a shame they decided not to.
- crestfall, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1the one where they copied abby hoffman and scribbled with a black marker? oh yeah, ground-breaking!
- tyho, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I was kinda disappointed in this list as well. I always remember GnR's first album cover that was later banned of a machine/robot raping a girl.

- Chronchitis, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1Dugg for the Grateful Dead thats my favorite album of theres. i love St.Stephen and the China Cat.
- CarStan, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Where? I only see it mentioned in the comments. ??
- ltkerr0r, on 07/03/2008, -7/+8Looks familiar.

Did you notice the "_3" in your url? - thedogfatherx, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I puked when I saw "1988 Prince, Lovesexy"
What........In..........The........Hell - alexforcefive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1It's a good one. I also like the cover to "original pirate material" by the streets, and "Ys" by joanna newsom
- mrn111, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Good choices
Might I add...

(BTW, part of the reason I dugg the article was that the list was on the same page.) - ogre2112, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Funny. Some people like to have relevant discussion. Go home.
- kaplanfx, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I was looking through thinking this is a great list, but the lack of the Nevermind cover shows that they didn't quite get it right.
- MrNatural, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Two words:
Mati Klarwein - BrandonKutzler, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1http://sleevage.com/
Excellent blog about iconic album covers and their designers. - Thrilltone, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1It was the great Phil Hartman
- inactive, on 07/03/2008, -3/+4Hello!!? McFly!?? NIRVANA NEVERMIND?!????
- ahoy, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Those came way too late for them to change anything.
- wrenchone, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1It's a list of important album COVERS. Covers, not the material contained within.
- ogre2112, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Same here.. Missing Nirvana definitely.
- terrya64, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Pretty good list, I have 14 of the 23, not for the covers but for the great music.
- inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1I would have included the "White Album". Just for it's simplicity.
- Urzeitlich, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Epic fail on the quote.
