- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -7/+18Gotta hand it to them, they really nailed this list. I don't even feel like trying to defend Weezer, that song really did suck.
- GregLoire, on 10/19/2007, -1/+7The list is about bad songs, not successful ones. The author of the article even says that some of the tracks on the list were financially successful.
- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -0/+6Perhaps her intention with that song was to get a second career that paid her far more than her first career ever did.
If that is the case, SUCCESS. - Ndiggnation, on 10/20/2007, -0/+5Weezer fans: I don't care what they say about us anyway.
I don't care 'bout that. - VargVikernes, on 10/19/2007, -1/+6Half of this list is *****. Believe by Cher was a massive hit when it came out. That single basically put Cher back on the charts. And Kokomo... I agree with MC Hammer and Eminem being up there, but come on... Kokomo, We built this city and Believe were all massive hits at the time and decent compared to their previous work. Nowadays it's just popular to have a top 10 list of everything I guess...
- endustry, on 10/19/2007, -0/+4Wow. I didn't know Eminem was white.
- KidDynamo0, on 10/19/2007, -0/+4Better question: what the hell was Hammer doing in a speedo in the first place?
- minorthreat, on 10/19/2007, -2/+6don't get me wrong, that weezer song sucked.. but its a joan jett rip off? Its not even the same chords, its sounds nothing like I love rock n roll.
- Lynxpro, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3I can't get through a minute of that song, and it wasn't just because as a fan I felt totally betrayed over what they did to sell their greatest hits album...lying to the fans over Diamond Dave's "return". And now they have Eddie's son in the band instead of Michael Anthony. Talk about douchebaggery at its finest.
- slashbot, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3I second what others are saying. Claiming gimme more as a colossal flop does not sync with reality. The fact is, as far as she is concerned, the song is a success.
I do agree with most of that list however. - Speaking, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3HAHA... John Stamos on drums for the beach boys!!
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Add "Take it easy" by The Fugees to that list.. They broke up after their grammy nominated and critically acclaimed album (The Score) changed hip-hop forever. Bad blood shows on this terrible sounding, cliche single they released as a comeback and prelude to a reunion that has still never happened.
- mishaco, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3no stone roses ?
- lynch, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3The best part of all of these was Phil Collins *in* the bone thugs video.
- ChronicColonic, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Without You by Van Halen - Being a Van Halen fan, I really wanted to like this album. That is just not possible. Eddie's guitar work is great as usual, but Sherone does not fit. The song itself is forgettable at best. I am glad I did not part with any cash to purchase that CD.
- Ndiggnation, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Ahh, Britney had a terrible performance a while back. Really? Got it by now.
Who cares? - JustAboutReal, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2you really can't cite commerical success as proof they're not 'terrible comeback singles'
It's not a comeback single if it's a flop - SirFoxx, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2The Van Halen song "Without You" doesn't belong on this list at all. You not have cared for Gary as lead singer but this song is nowhere a "worst" comeback song.
- Premier, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2What the heck is that in Hammers speedo?
- sterntastic223, on 10/22/2007, -0/+2funny enough, i saw the "making of" of pour some sugar on me and they said the beat of that song was an attempt at a rip off of "we will rock you"
- Litespeed, on 10/18/2007, -1/+3I don't know, I quite like that Van Halen song.
- AlleyKatz, on 10/18/2007, -1/+3Sometimes the gurly girl comes out in me and she dances to "Gimme More" ^.^ .....I liked Kokomo btw
- silfiriel, on 10/18/2007, -1/+3neeeh, cher doesn't belong there
- petebot, on 10/23/2007, -1/+3The really sad thing is that song was one of the better ones on that last album. I burned it from someone else and listened to it once maybe twice, to give it another shot. completely forgettable. And this is coming from a (now embarrassed to admit it) Weezer fan.
- airj1012, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2I agree, some of those were pretty bad, but I don't agree with Bone Thugs N Harmony's "Home". I think that one is ok.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Several of these songs went to number 1. Kokomo and Believe comes to mind. I think We Built This City may has as well.
- xtc46, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2I'm sorry but you cant state that a song is "one of their biggest successes" then say it was a flop (unless the band it self is a flop which the beach boys weren't). This list is crap.
- ScornForSega, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2I'm torn between my distaste for Enimen but my love for Robert Smigel. Unfortunately, that song was better than any of Triumph's albums. :(
- USB2point0, on 10/19/2007, -7/+9yeah, can't really digg this. Gimme More is selling like crazy. Even if I don't like her, I have to admit, she can sell records.
- r00tus3r, on 10/19/2007, -2/+4Kokomo ROCKS! and so does Cocktail!
- Lynxpro, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2I thought it was a documentary of him on skid row when I first saw that video years ago... In his defense, he can play guitar like Madonna can't.
- hoax689, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2oh come on that vanilla ice track is the greatest, so funny at the start when he's hiding in the dark i thought he was some black gangster until the zoom in LOL
- adamriggins, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2An interesting tidbit about "Beverly Hills" by Weezer- the producer of that album gave Rivers Cuomo a song-writing project. The idea was to take the beat of "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leopard, and write a new song based on the beat to that song. That is where the rhythm of the song came from. Coincidentally, the same producer did the same project with Tom Petty for the song "It's Good to Be King" (or whatever the name is).
- Gustomucho, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2The beat isn't bad. The lyrics are weak. The "more" in a Froggy voice is the reason why I will ALWAYS change channel on the radio. I hate the frog voice, who's idea was it anyway?
- cmw72, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Gimme More had/has what it takes to be a smash hit. It really does all come down to the production. If Britney had have blown everybody away at the VMA's, and not just blown, she'd be on top of the world right now.
Believe was gimmicky (the vocoder), but a decent song nonetheless.
American Life would - inactive, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2What was that Paul McCartney 9-11 song that got too much airplay?
- cmw72, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Dammit ... got cut off.
American Life would have been a good song, were it not for that Horrible rap.
Gary Cherone was a great lead singer for Extreme, but they tried to make him sound like Sammy, and it just didn't work.
That Starship album was classic 80's pop, as was Kokomo.
And the Weezer CD flat out rocks. - BelieveItYo, on 10/19/2007, -4/+6Problem is, "gimme more" swept the country as the #1 song... so as much as britney spears is a future cow, not dugg
- isayx3, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2They need to comeback to have a comeback single
- acidbathfan, on 11/06/2007, -0/+2Wasn't the guy with the mullet on the tv show Full House in the music video for Kokomo ????
- Lynxpro, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2They didn't come back from that. The song was a failure. It sounds terrible. They shouldn't have used the name "Van Halen" for that train-wreck of an album. I'd venture to say that the Nintendo Virtual-Boy was a greater success than that disc.
- DanJohnHarris, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Can't believe he put Eminem on the list, or Kokomo. Both are awesome songs.
Ass like that is just Eminem ***** around, dissing michael jackson and the little slut stars that prance around hollywood half naked to be famous.
Turn on your radio to a rap station, or mtv, and it will be filled with songs that actually uphold the idiocracies Eminem is making fun of in the song. The only thing I can guess is that the dungeye who made this list actually took Eminem seriously, and missed the satire.
Kokomo is a sweet song, no one can deny it. Dungeye dungeye dungeye - gemmakicn, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2What about the most recent Paul Mcartney single? I couldn't believe a Beatle could write a song that bad..
- cvrefugee, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Only the rhythm and clapping sound similar, other than that you're right.
- mastercheif, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2The list is about bad comeback songs, not popular ones.
- lukak, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1What are you talking about? Cher is a robot.
- pipipie, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1I remember Arsinio (i know i can't spell his name and i'm too lazy to look it up) had him on his show back in the day and was making fun of hammer for the roll of quarters in the speedo.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -1/+2Yep, some horror ones there! Dugg
- oldhick, on 10/19/2007, -2/+3Who?
