- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -2/+18I think the "Black President" track is the best of the bunch. Really captures the spirit of Obama and what he is all about.
- Cfahooligan, on 08/05/2008, -1/+10"This is street ra-dio, for unsung heroes
Ridin in they regal, tryin to stay legal
My daughter found Nemo, I found the new primo
Yeah you know how we do, we do it for the people
And the struggles of the brothas and the folks"
Common
The People - machocheese34, on 08/06/2008, -1/+7Its a shame Common doesn't get more mainstream exposure, he's very talented
- CristianRaiber, on 08/05/2008, -7/+13Great songs - all of them. Obama rocks .. sorry .. raps.
- VinnieDaMac, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5I'd be more impressed if there was a list of country songs about Obama.
- warpsmith, on 08/06/2008, -2/+7Well, considering that Obama was a professor of constitutional law for 12 years at the University of Chicago, I'd say that he's the best hope for doing just that.
- machocheese34, on 08/06/2008, -1/+5get the ***** off my internet
- gianttoolbox11, on 08/06/2008, -2/+6I thought for sure 'Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta' would be on the list.
- alkajazz, on 08/05/2008, -2/+5Too bad Obama didn't like Luda's song.
- Sfenton, on 08/06/2008, -2/+5You're trying too hard.
- DigDugDigger, on 08/06/2008, -2/+4"...and they might even have a black president but he’s useless,
cause he does not control the economy, stupid!"
– Immortal Technique, The 3rd World
I guess only pro-Obama songs get on this list. - Clive, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3How could ya falter when you're the Rock of Gibraltar?
- stevelasseter, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2What no Thug Life?
- Wookie, on 08/06/2008, -3/+5Here are my predictions for an Obama presidency:
1. The Iraq War will not end.
2. Social Security won't be saved.
3. Schools won't get better. In fact school choice will be drastically curtailed and home schooling will probably be outlawed. Yay, less freedom for everybody.
4. Reparations paid with money printed out of thin air causing a sharp increase in inflation and thus leaving the beneficiaries poorer than before. (Read about the inflation caused by the German government in 1929 when they paid people during a general strike). The Bush "stimulus" checks cause a sharp increase in retail prices (a direct sign of inflation) because they devalued the currency and artificially increased the "wealth" of consumers in a very short period of time. Imagine what would happen if 45 million people received huge reparations checks from the government. I'm not predicting this because he's black, I'm predicting this because we will have a super majority of Democrats in Congress and a Democrat president. They will be so drunk with power that they will think this is a good idea. (But I know you're going to call me racist anyway).
5. Socialized medicine that can't be paid for followed shortly by the "reduction of benefits" for people with "unhealthy" habits and/or lifestyles in an attempt to "save money". (Remember the government has no money unless they take it from us.) We will have government mandated health inspections to maintain our socialized health "benefits".
6. Massive expansion of federal assistance programs followed by increased poverty and crime because the increase spending will further devalue the currency making gas and everything else more expensive. - siobhankeogh, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Oh my god, that guy is so uninformed and his song title is "Use Your Brain". Well now I can't use it, you tool, your lies are making it hurt.
- Puisapres, on 08/06/2008, -2/+4And here's the best rap song about McCain:
http://www.myspace.com/hicaliber
(And so far the only one that I know of, LOL. Believe it or not, conservative rappers exist...) - AgmLauncher, on 08/06/2008, -2/+4Good to see this election won't be about race or anything..................
- fragmanlivith36, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3Yeah okay. We all know from the last president in office, what is promised, and what is done are two completely different things.
Speaking of Constitutional Law, wasn't it Barack Obama who signed the FISA bill? - flashthom, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1You use a lot of big words for a dumbass.
- plebiscite, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Big Boi - Somethings gotta give
Amazing beat.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjOK9Mv5Omw - CptBuck, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2I'm sorry, but Ludacris' song has good production and pretty damn funny lyrics. It wins, hands down.
- danielgroves, on 08/05/2008, -1/+2Nas is classic, I would have to have added on to the list The Game - Black Democrat as well as it is on the same level as what Nas has done.
- rukeypoo, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2I liked Zach's more realistic take on things during Wake Up at Lolla.
- fragmanlivith36, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2Really so if you bothered to figure out why, for example, that robber punched the old lady in the face to steal her purse, that would make it okay, right?
- KingGorilla, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Obama has a myspace wtf
- cnot3, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2I agree, this Obama fanaticism on digg is getting out of control. He is slightly, SLIGHTLY, better than McCain, but he is still a piece of ***** and will run this country into the ground. At least when digg was flooded with articles about Ron Paul, you could actually find the guy likable and see reason behind his beliefs.
Obama voted for FISA, for reinstatement of the Patriot Act, for expansions of socialized medicine and welfare in general, and can't wait to sink his claws into the second amendment after he's done shredding the fourth.
Whoever wins this election, we're *****. I'm voting Libertarian, so don't blame me. - flashthom, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1It's worth noting that the song by TI$A (produced by LA genius Daedelus) is a sanitized version. The orignial song went, "***** what your momma say, I'm gonna vote Obama way." Listen to it here: http://hypem.com/search/fmb%20obama/1/
- 8randon, on 08/06/2008, -1/+2Jin's music video is removed
here is a copy of his song w/ lyrics:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EekO3IMn_ds - inactive, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Because rap and Obama are cool enough to write about....
- AuTigerfan, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1You are correct sir.
- hotsauzz, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1This song needs to be on the list! Great lyrics remixed by an amateur on Lil Wayne's Milli Track. Song: 5/5. Video 2/5.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6G6rlhBsWNM - DrRenee, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1Please check out Lady Te's song "Betta Get it Right" http://www.youtube.com/ladyte20
- dfnj123, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1He's one of my favorite rappers. His new CD Invisible Summer is going to be crazy. The Neptunes are producing most of it.
- btschul, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1how many rappers rapped about al gore or john kerry?
- walshgopher, on 08/06/2008, -2/+2I love Sly Fox by Nas. He performed on the Colbert Report. I am aware the song is about Fox news but I think they've made it clear they're republican.
"And he hate Barack cause
He march with the marchers"
http://www.metrolyrics.com/sly-fox-lyrics-nas.html - KINGGS, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1yeah because tons of people know half these songs exist...lol
/sarcasm - nonsequitur668, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1There is currently a lot of controversy about Barack Obama's apothegms, and I know that any letter on the subject will almost certainly cause someone to perpetuate harmful stereotypes. Still, there's a distinction to be made here. To begin with, difficult times lie ahead. Fortunately, we have the capacity to circumvent much of the impending misery by working together to develop an alternative community, a cohesive and comprehensive underground with a charter to unmask Obama's true face and intentions in regard to Maoism. Obama has been trying for quite some time to convince us that extremism and prætorianism are identical concepts. I suggest he take this rotting ordure and dump it where he and his fellow pompous paper-pushers congregate. At least then we could fight him hammer and tong without having to worry that he will squander irreplaceable national treasures.
Just wait until someone gets hurt as a result of Obama's ruses. Then, more people will agree that I frequently talk about how letting him suppress controversy and debate is a recipe for disaster. I would drop the subject except that he and I are as different as chalk and cheese. Obama, for instance, wants to overthrow democratic political systems. I, on the other hand, want to take advantage of a rare opportunity to force Obama into early retirement. That's why I need to tell you that if he thinks that Man's eternal search for Truth is a challenge to be avoided at all costs, then he's sadly mistaken. At this point in the letter I had planned to tell you that our long-corrupt legal system is parlously close to establishing a precedent that will enable Obama to blend together larrikinism and gnosticism in a train wreck of monumental proportions. However, one of my colleagues pointed out that Obama should step down from his gilded pedestal. Hence, I discarded the discourse I had previously prepared and substituted the following discussion in which I argue that he truly believes that it's okay to leave the educational and emotional needs of our children in the egocentric hands of beer-guzzling, baleful rabble-rousers. I hope you realize that that's just a spiteful pipe dream from a noisome pipe and that in the real world, if Obama were paying attention -- which it would seem he is not, as I've already gone over this -- he'd see that I've tried explaining to his cheerleaders that by providing a carefully filtered, a carefully slanted, view of what is happening in the world, he is able to trick people into believing that he is a man of peace. Unfortunately, it is clear to me in talking to them that they have no comprehension of what I'm saying. I might as well be talking to creatures from Mars. In fact, I'd bet Martians would be more likely to discern that when Obama was first found trying to wreck our country, derail our civilization, and threaten the human race with extinction, I was scared. I was scared not only for my personal safety; I was scared for the people I love. And now that Obama is planning to mete out harsh and arbitrary punishment against his adversaries until they're intimidated into a benumbed, neutralized, impotent, and non-functioning mass, I'm really downright terrified. Barack Obama flatters people in order to betray them. Do give that some thought. - WasabiBomb, on 08/06/2008, -2/+2Sure, and if you'd bothered to read WHY he signed the FISA bill, instead of having a knee-jerk response to it, you might understand why.
- boredaghast, on 08/06/2008, -3/+3Missed an important one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdV7YsM-N50
Barack Obama wanna bomb Iran
But he pretends he’s an anti-war kinda man
Hasn’t said a damn thing about the Patriot Act
Or the fact that most people live in one-room shacks
Or the fact that our economy’s about to collapse
And the fact that most whites won’t vote for a black
And besides, he’s a gun-control free-trade pro-tax
More-war still takes AIPAC kick-backs - plebiscite, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1I thought we were talking about hip-hop not race.
- darkwing81, on 08/06/2008, -1/+0the problem with the talented rappers getting over looked and the ***** getting played in heavy rotation is much bigger than just common. check out J-live or Aesop rock and tell me they are not ten times more talented than any rapper you hear on the radio
- KINGGS, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1he gets tons of exposure and that is why he sucks now. Too damn safe with his newer stuff.
- Tyrghast, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1It's songs like this that keep racism alive. I don't give a ***** that Obama is black, his simply the lesser of two evils this round.
- fragmanlivith36, on 08/06/2008, -9/+8Is that what Obama is all about, being the first black president? This is why I think this 2008 election is garbage. So many people are voting for Obama because they thing that being the first black president is a big deal. Well it isn't. I don't care what color the president's skin is, I care about whether he can run the country according to the constitution, and do a good job of it. Frankly, neither Obama, or McCain can do that, black or white.
- flashthom, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1You ***** racist ass hole. Reparations will NEVER happen. It's a political impossibility. Stop divorcing yourself from reality.
- btschul, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1Voting based on race. Yeah, that's exactly what our country needs this year. /s
- prefixmag, on 08/05/2008, -4/+3I wonder how many hip-hop songs about Obama there'll be by the end of the year.
- indiepenguins, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1Don't give the guy hits. He's gonna think people like his *****, rather than a bunch of diggers laughing at his "conservative rap."
- alantanblog, on 08/06/2008, -2/+0love it.
