- mikebeauchamp, on 10/12/2007, -13/+47Alternatively, I wish the GOV/MIL wouldn't waste tax payers money paying people to surf the ***** internet while at work.
- pgorley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29Of course this isn't legal. Right on the main page they have a link to serial numbers for popular software.
- Unr3a1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27By legal, i am guessing you mean illegal not that I really care.
- sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23The US Top 20 on that site is depressing, I can't wait until this regurgitated hip hop R&B pseudo rap junk phase is over & done with.
WTB the 90's back - Krutch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Guesing I shouldn't visit this link from work then. Wish the GOV/MIL would start using alternative browsers.
- ZeNiTRaM, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18http://www.google.com/search?q=intitle%3A%22Index%20of%3A%22%20.mp3
There you have more than 700.000 folders. Most of all with illegal MP3. And, guess it, Google is linking them. So, GOOGLE IS ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111 (sarcasm mode off) - sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14A few pop ups, I imagine some of them could possibly contain some spyware, google toolbar blocked 2, but 1 managed to still pop up which got filtered via my hosts file, so it didn't display.. I don't know what else he could be referring to.
- mdempsey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Lol, how in any way is this legal at all?!? Cool site though... :-P
- shinaku, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I pirate Metallica music.. not because they're good, purely out of spite.
- Dementual, on 01/27/2008, -0/+10Heh, this is in no way legal. I mean, they have a link to program and game cracks right in their navigation.
I still dugg it. - kudos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Pirate Bay is legal in their jurisdiction, Sweden, there's plenty of places where it would not be legal. Unless this site is run from a similar copyright haven, it is in fact illegal.
In any case, downloading using the links from it is still illegal. - aaronlidman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10warning to those of you still on IE.
- bigd063, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Sweet!!
(Removes Azureus and Limewire)
Wait, this isn't legal?!
(Reinstalls) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13I wonder how long it'll be until this site is shut down. So illegal.
- Xtrem3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Hehe, legal yeah right...
Oh wait it's on the internet and is a large catalog of mp3s, except free; it must be legal, just like allofmp3. - falcyn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10OK guys, he was partly right saying it's legal. The site itself isn't illegal. It's not hosting anything. It's one huge index. Says so right at the top of the page - "Indexing 438,416 MP3s". The files themselves are hosted on sites ranging from Geocities to the University of Arizona (wonder if they know they're hosting illegal MP3s :P)
So the site is as legal as, say PirateBay. Still questionable, of course. The music, as always, is quite illegal. But the site is a very good idea. One problem I noticed, though, a lot of links to MP3s are dead. But that's the nature of downloading music.
EDIT: On the bottom of the page: "This site does not store any of the files listed on its server. We are just indexing other sites contents!" Right above "Farted in : 0.0625 seconds" - ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Just coz it doesn't have a banner saying "illegal music downloads here!" doesn't mean it is legit. I think it's pretty obvious it is not legal.
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I don't really care if it's legal or not, music is music, and I will get it any way I can. I can't believe how many people are soooo against illegal downloading of music.
- suede, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9erm... how about windowsmedia.com? I know you're gonna hate me for saying it, but half of their "streaming music" links straight to the mp3's... and they're not exactly gonna take that site down, are they?
- cooltom2006, on 10/12/2007, -9/+15By legal he most definatly means illegal. No digg
- HarryBauzonia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I don't have IE. What's it doing?
- sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Those disclaimers sound like a bunch of ***** to me, I constantly see them on various torrent & search sites that I frequent for various things, along with the "Internet Privacy Act of 1995 by Bill Clinton" which doesn't even exist.
I'm mooching while I can, I'm sure the site will be shut down in no time. - pr0t3st, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://www.kohit.net/_/arc/M/168
Free and legal? Look at all of these Metallica mp3's. - iSEPIC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Allofmp3.com isn't free, and it is 100% legal in Russia, and it doesn't quite fit illegal (yet) in US Import law, so what's your point?
- DeeEffEss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Remember kids. It isn't illegal if you don't get caught ;)
- cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Let's forget you even suggested I am "defending" the RIAA. I've worked with independent artists getting their music online and talked with various people I know that produce music. They put their heart and soul into this stuff. When they give away a CD to promote their album, they're giving something away for free. If they decide to put it on iTunes and give a "free" download... that's free too. If they decided they didn't want a dime for doing the song, and just wanted to share it with everyone... then its freely distributable. Put in any of these things, there's such a thing as a copyright.
Don't collapse your gripes with the RIAA into your total disregard of copyright, because they're two different things. You don't have to turn my stance on the "rights of creators" into "defending the RIAA" so you don't have to ancknowledge I have a point. It's BS and it sucks.
We're encouraging a culture where people think they're entitled to steal something, just because they can. Why save up for the latest album when you can find it online for free? That's the truth of it, usually hiding behind the smoke and mirrors of BS complaining about the RIAA. If the RIAA try to sue someone for putting their purchased CD on an iPod, I'll be the first in line doing my bit to speak out. If they try to say putting DRM on a CD is acceptable, I'll be there shaking my head and criticizing the label and the artist for letting it happen (in my opinion, where the pressure starts).
I'm not going to sit around sipping coffee, downloading illegal music, and spouting communist garbage about how I'm doing my bit against "the man", though. Let people work hard and make money for their accomplishment. - gschoots, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I expected it to be run by chinese/russian operators but according to it's whois information it is US based, so get your stuff while RIAA is on the case...
- lokean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The musicians don't receive any money? Yeah, right! You forget how they are getting screwed over by the record companies! Most musicians don't make their money by selling records. If you want to support them, go to a concert. The RIAA is not protecting the interests of musicians (that's why lots of them are not happy with it) but of the big label bosses.
- Strangers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's not including zipped files, and sites that blocked googlebot that contain music.
I doubt rapidshare and their ilk are included too. It's amazing how much is out there - marksy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2keeps crashing safari for me when i try to download. meh, i'd rather isohunt for albums - good collection though
- Cmain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think they have some other network sites.
http://www.kovideo.net
http://www.komp3.net - NerveBand, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A perfect example would be tyoogle.com
You can find mp3s on google. Should google be shut down because of this? NO. So what makes this website any different? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Isohunt battle will decide if this site stays. It does the same thing kinda as ISOHunt and heck, even google. It just crawls other sites.
- cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This "labels are screwing musicians, so I'm not screwing artists by stealing music" argument is such BS. I wish people would STFU about it. A lot of musicians do NOT PERFORM, they just create music. Look at guys like Prince, who got his rights back. While it is true that many musicians don't get paid a lot from the labels, some do, and others simply do not do performances. This would be an appropriate attitude if we had a website that charted what each musician's deal was with the record companies, and we could really talk numbers... but we don't, so stop using generalizations to bolster BS. It's just not right.
Dammit, now I sound like the Church Lady. - HarryBauzonia, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Is this really legit?
I found a lot of stuff I like. - cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Partly legal", "only indexes"? Oh... you mean like Napster was "partly legal"...? Google indexes the INTERNET. Comparing Google to any site that simply indexes ONLY music available (however many OTHER site brands/focuses they have on other sites), is a lot different. It's like a warez site for music. Don't get it twisted, even if its legal in the country to host such a site, it doesn't mean it's "legal music" which is the title of this Digg submission, and the only reason it should be marked "inaccurate". There are lots of these sites out there at any time, its not that "special". If anything, just say what you mean, don't trick people.
- stuffhappens, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Agreed - a lot of the music on release today is the same basic stuff rehashed again and again, with hardly anyone actually playing instruments.
I can't stand the way 'fizzy's sonic mix' and the like simply means stretch out a track by adding 2 mins of fast, repetitive drum beat at the start, a few dabs of echo, drums in the middle again, a few repeat samples of the vocals, more drums at the end and, hey presto, one decent tune totally ruined for all except those on certain substances with a fscked up perception of reality.
My main music era is the 80's (new romantics and all that stuff) and I recently came across the 12" remix of Spandau Ballet's 'Gold' (done by Gary Kemp himself) and the remix was totally different yet kept the spirit of the original and was actually (IMHO) better.
Trouble is, anyone with a PC or Mac is now able to mess around with beats, loops and samples - and pretty much everything they generate sounds like everything else. - Snooper1989, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Alternatively you could just get game remixes from OCRemix.org and the like...
- iSEPIC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1>so stop using generalizations to bolster BS. It's just not right.
Since you seem to defend the RIAA, why don't you tell them this. I mean, they generalize they loose so much money by pirates, I mean, they generalize that those pirates would then BUY the music if they didn't download it. Why not generlize this; Most music download (by pirates) suck, and they get rid of it after hearing it the first time. I'm sick of buying an album only to have heard one or two songs on the radio, to find out that the rest of the cd sounds like crap. And don't give me this generilization that I can listen to a preview on iTUNES becuase it's only 30 seconds. I'll pirate the music, if I like it, I'll buy it from allofmp3.com -- If the are TRUE musicians, and not some "boy-band" RIAA Puppets, they will find a way to get their music out, big or little profit. - TheWalkingDude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I've already found a couple of kick ass tracks, thanks Mistafox.
Sure it's not perfect, some of the links are crap, but I stick links like this into a folder. When I'm looking for something particular, I try every link in my list and I usually find it on one of them. It's a good source; here's a couple more for your collection:

http://hype.non-standard.net/ - joeljkp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We find it unethical. Any other questions?
- joeljkp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A hardnose every-minute-counts work atmosphere is detrimental to productivity. If you claim to want such a slavedriving government work environment, you both are ignorant of the factors that influence productivity and are clamoring for inefficiencies of a whole new order of magnitude.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"This site does not store any of the files listed on its server. We are just indexing other sites contents!"
Well how the hell is it http://www.kohit.net/download/353678/simple%20plan%20-%20jump.mp3 then? - mechtech, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Here are some precautions that you can take to safeguard yourself against an RIAA lawsuit:
Very simply put, pay for your music. This is by far the easiest and most full-proof way to ensure that you won't be sued by the RIAA. Basically, you won't be sued if you don't do anything illegal. Obvious enough, right?
So far, the RIAA has only sued users sharing more than 1,000 songs. If you are illegally downloading music, I can't promise you that there is no lawsuit in your future. Keep in mind that, despite the fact that file sharers sharing less than 1,000 songs have avoided lawsuits so far, the illegal downloading of music is still that--illegal.
http://mp3.about.com/od/isitlegal/a/riaalawsuits.htm - invisiblesun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm actually quite impressed. I found the one song that could brighten my day. I'd been searching for it for ages: King Harvest's Dancing in the Moonlight. Of course they had it labelled as Van Morrisson, but I expected as much.
- nunbot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2url rewriting, follow the link to the actual file :)
- CupofDice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It is not a 'yeah maybe'. If you use something like Free Download Manager, it says it is handling the redirecting.
- yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I can smells some illegality.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That seems like a waste of a lot of time instead of just buying what you want, or a track for a dollar. It's got to take maybe 5 minutes to go through for just the possibility of finding it, at an unknown quality, so unless you value your time at less than $12 an hour, it doesn't make much sense. But hey, it's your life, and I guess I just wasted two minutes of mine thinking about this. Dammit.
