- Abyss_908, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually ka-el, you're wrong the dark mirror universe only appeared in Deep Space Nine, Enterprise, and the Original Series. Bakula sucks he is one of the reasons Enterprise failed. The show was centered around him. Stewart and Shatner will be great in this movie. 2 of the best captains of the universe. But since the universe actually appeared on on DS9 episodes it would be interesting to see more of those mirror characters that have never been visited in the last days of the series since they were very busy with the domininion war. I mean there's Smiley O'Brien, the mirror Bashier, and many others. But of course some of the main ones were killed off in the mirror universe like the Sisko and Quark. I wonder if they will try to connect it with the normal reality like have Picard travel to the mirror universe and meet the mirror Picard or something. Too bad Leonard Nemoy won't be in it. With the mirror universe they could have a mirror Data that isn't dead. Glad they scrapped the prequel idea! Gonna be sweet!
- clvrmnky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!
- kimos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Remember when Star Trek movies used to be good?
Seeing Nemesis was one of the single most disapponiting things I have ever looked forward to... - g30ph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4How could you say Star Trek is dead? Star Trek is it's own universe. Just because Paramount decided to let the same guys keep failing for 10 years doesn't change the fact that Star Trek has unending potential. You might aswell say King Kong is dead because the last remake sucked. Then Peter Jackson comes along. Alternately you may say Star Wars is the greatest, then some schmuck makes 3 prequels.
- cacophony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4How about a factual writeup? The mirror universe was featured on the original series, DS9, and Enterprise. Never TNG.
- LooterMcBeer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3As long as shatner goes by the name of Denny Crane!
- MicahC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There's too much time travel in Star Trek. Have three captains in one movie is a gimmick. The problem is gimmicks tend to fail because of plot holes (example: Generations). If they would just focus on one crew and one great story, the movie would be awesome in the box office (example: Undiscovered Country).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4William will save the studio a ton of money on their travel expenses.

Star Trek: Generations did NOT feature the Mirror universe. Instead It was an alternate reality created by the Nexus.
Also, why does everyone hate on Star Trek Nemesis. I thought it was rather good. It was far better than Star Trek Insurrection.
And it wasn't Bakula that made Enterprise suck, it was the writing. The sad thing is that the stories were getting pretty good towards the end of the series, but it was too far down the spiral by then. - cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They should go back to the Genesis Project planet and bring McCoy and Scotty back to life.
- blubolt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2:) http://www.khaaan.com/
- duke_nate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What the hell, where are the DS9 guys?? They spent the most time in the alternate universe. Its time for DS9 to get its first movie.
- joemc72, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Are Berman and Braga involved? If so, suckage will ensue...
- Saint3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Voyager was the BANE of Star Trek, and helped perpetrate it's downfall. Wardvark, you should be ashamed of yourself.
- xLiKx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3great, more bad star trek movies. i hope they get a good director this time
- leftfoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What about voyager and DS9? Those kicked ass, leave Enterprise out, Rick Berman ***** the timeline up on that one =(.
- Reddog_x2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 I say let star trek rest for several years. Then bring in new writers and a new crew. And, most importantly, don't do a damn thing until you've got a great story that just has to be told. Don't put out any product just to put out product.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If they are going to make a movie, makit is damn Captain Sulu movie in the same era as STII. That, my friends, would rock.
- g30ph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah right. Yesterday this was a rumor. Today all of a sudden it's a fact. Well I hope they get Peter Jackson to do it. And please leave out Bakula. He should have killed himself after Quantum Leap went off. I'd prefer to see more of the DS9 cast.
- TheGeek27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Trek doesn't need a rest. What it needs are new, fresh ideas that don't come from Berman and Braga. Berman did a decent job on DS9, but we all know that Ira Behr was the true driving force behing that masterpiece. Berman and Braga no respect for the established universe, the general feel and intent of true Trek, and the fans of the franchise.
But someone like Bryan Singer or Manny Coto behind the wheel of the ship. These are people that love Trek and would treat it with respect. Star Trek has a special place in the hearts of many, many fans. When you start to tread on the existing universe of feelings and ideas of an established franchise, you anger the fans and lose them.
Enterprise had amazing potential to be fantastic. We could have learned more about the origins of the Federation and the first encounters with TOS aliens. They could have used the established continuity to really explore things Trek fans take for granted. Instead, Berman and Braga give us all this Temporal Cold War/Suliban/Xindi nonsense.
When they finally turned over control in season 4 to Manny Coto, we finally got to see a glimmer of what Enterprise could have and should have been. Andorians, Klingons, Vulcans, Oriens, and Romulans. That's what Enterprise needed more of. It didn't need tons of new species like Xindi and Suliban. It didn't need species that, continuity-wise, they should have never, ever run into, like Ferengi and Borg.
Yes, they focused on Archer way too much, but don't blame that on Bakula. He did a good job for the crap they threw at him for the first 3 seasons. And they certainly focused waaaaay too damn much on Trip and T'Pol. Blalock couldn't act a lick, and she had a ***** character that they messed up way too much anyway.
Why not more with Travis or Malcom? How about Hoshi?
Again, Star Trek does not need a rest. It needs the leadership of someone who loves and respects the franchise. Not someone who's just there to force their own misguided ideas into it. - clintcan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm a big trekkie fan. :), however, I do find Enterprise boring. I watched TOS, TNG, DS9 even up to Voyager (I found it quite good, contrary to what some people might think, especially in the last few seasons).
I do however think there is some promise if we let the fans do the trekkie movie stuff. I've seen star trek: new voyages ( http://newvoyages.com ), and I have to admit, the stuff is really good... good old TOS style writing; considering some of the writers are also from the original TOS series. They even have a new episode coming up, with Walter Koenig (Chekov) as guest star playing himself! I also get a kick of watching the kirk actor having elvis-type sideburns - hilarious! (Incidentally, the guy works as an elvis impersonator for a living) - Wardvark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Skip this idea, make a Voyager movie, that series rocked.
- DewayneSmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love Star Trek...only problem. Will it use the NCC-1701-A?
- Jorenko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hopefully this will be the movie that Nemesis was supposed to be. It was originally a mirror universe Enterprise-E vs Enterprise-E story, which was twisted into the steaming pile of plot-device crap we got.
I will agree that DS9 was my favourite Trek, and they definately had the best mirror universe episodes. And to cambrown99, you left out 6. Undiscovered Country kicked ass! - cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Only ever other Star Trek movie used to be good--even ones mostly, but I think Nemesis was an even numbered one and that sucked worse than 5. Only 2, 4, and 8 are worth the time, with 2 being the high point of Star Trek movies period. I'm not a Trekkie, but even I have to admit that DS9 had some amazing episodes a little more than halfway through its run.
- jla1987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not so sure I'd be drooling over this concept yet. It seems too much like a rumor started by fans. However, I would certainly love to see Trek back on the Big Screen.
- sonofalink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kirk upon meeting Picard: "SET PHASERS ON KILL!"
Picard: "What's your problem?!?!"
Kirk: "Sorry... mad cow." - Reliant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've never heard of CanMag magazine. As far as I'm concerned, unless I hear it on startrek.com it is just a rumour.
- TimmyK., on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For some reason I have a hard time believing that this is either true, or would ever stand a chance of being anything but crap. I loved TNG and DS9, but Voyager was horrid almost from the very beginning, and completely ruined the Borg. Enterprise didn't keep my interest past the first episode, even though I like Bakula (huge Quantum Leap fan). Personally other than giving the first episode of Enterprise a chance I haven't paid attention to Star Trek since the fifth season of Voyager or so. What was the point when there was Babylon 5, and Farscape. And now we have the amazing Battlestar Galactica stomping all over any other sci-fi series out there. Star Trek needs a very long rest, and it should only come back when there actually is a good reason, and preferably with another TNG style jump into a new era with new characters and situations (a forward jump that is).
- 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> Pogue_Mahone wrote: "I'd like to see DS9 characters in it..."
I feel that DS9 is the best of all the Treks. The writing was tighter and the stories more compelling than any of the other versions of the "Trek Universe."
That's not to say that I didn't like the other Treks. I did. I just liked DS9 the best. - beervolcano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope this is just a rumor about the new movie. Don't get me wrong, I would REALLY like to see a new one made, but I don't want it to be full of gimicks that will just kill the Star Trek universe forever.
As far as the TV series go...DS9 was the best...no contest!
Just a thought about a new series...what would people think about a series where the focus isn't from the Frederation's point of view? Klingon? Romulan? Vulcan(nope, would probably be too boring)? A new/different race entirely?
Anyway, what are your thoughts on that? - magstheaxe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2DS9 was the best of the Next Generation era TV series, and Sisko the coolest captain. I can't believe they'd overlook Avery Brooks in favor of Scott Bakula, given that 'Enterprise' both sucked AND blew.
- mcfo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Forget Kirk, Picard and the other one. If they're going to m ake a new Star Trek movie, have them all assassinated in the first scene and make the film about Seven of Nine and T'Pol getting hot and sweaty in a sauna ...
- monfoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Definitely leave out Berman and Braga they basically killed the golden goose. They did so much to destroy a good thing. Forget the Mirror universe how about something about the the Enterprise-C with all new and fresh characters, or how about something post DS9 after the end of the series. Another words something new and untried before (What a concept)If it's the same old crap it's still crap.
- troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would love to see this movie, only if Captain Archer, get anally molested by Klingon then publically killed but having hody dipped in acid repeatedly until he disappears never to be seen again.. oh yeah and as an encore Braga and co, get the same treatment.
- reggiedarden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is this going to be the one where Luke starts training new Jedi?
- tobtoh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Possible new ST movie ..." ... oh cool, i might go and see .... "involving a mirror universe." ... oh ... never mind.
You know the movie is going to be utter crap when they the whole basis of it is dependent on such a rubbish plot device. - cronos916, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Long live Star Trek!
- hyperfocal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Star Trek: The Undiscovered Old Country Buffet
Kirk takes the Enterprise on a desperate mission to secure the handicapped parking space from a renegade band of decrepit Klingons. The mission starts poorly since Kirk will no longer fly faster than warp .005 and travels across the universe in the left lane with his turn signals on. - freonchill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0didnt shatner and pacard do this - generations?
- Kelpesh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about a klingon only flick, no name actors and a different moral
set. it would be glorious! - jaszczesniak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Even though (nearly) every one here seems to think that the parallel universe idea is terrible, and would only be utilized in order to fore-go any continuity, we have to remember that for every choice made, the other choices available were made in alternate universes... so every thing that affects mainstream continuity affects the multiverse as well.
I really wouldn't care what they make, I love every thing trek as long it's trek, and as long as they pay as much attention to detail as possible. Frankly, continuity can always be fixed/explained, but at least try to keep it canon, eh?
However what I would like to see is a movie adaptation of DC's "The Mirror Universe Saga"... even though it's considered expanded universe... but that's up to Paramount to decide ;)
Oh, and Nemesis was effen awesome! - section31, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no sisko no digg.
- Kvetch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats awesome but where is DS9?
- moondew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It sounds terrible. It also sounds like a joke.
- 6for2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm all for more Trek, but this just isn't going to happen.
- Zaarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually, setting it in a mirror universe is a good way to do more fun stuff without either conflicting with the existing universe, or being forced to solve the problem in an unbelievable way.
A much darker movie would be good. "In a mirror darkly" was cool. To quote some guy "We put the Hoe in Hoshi" ;) - washley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's worth reposting:
http://www.khaaan.com/ - robc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So If it not a time plot then it would have to be like a good Q from the mirror universe pulls all the captains of the Enterprise to deep space 9 and Voyager is docked that way it gets everyone involved and you have defeat evil Prophets. Otherwise I think we will time have anther time plot witch may be good if done right. I am so glad that they got rid of the idea of the unknown cast. that would have killed trek
- colinemckay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mirror Universe?
