Sounds to me like he's saying number 4 doesn't make sense with a repeat cast and the idea that he'd play Doc is clearly a joke about his age and the age of Marty.

I hate digg for this, people need to start researching. - mrdlcastle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it would be good to have a older Marty who is looking for someone to take over the reigns because of his Parkinsons'. That way you bring attention to the disease but at the same time don't make fun of it.
I would also have him looking for a replacement traveler and he sets to handle the day to day operations (designing, improving, etc.).

There will be no part four, it just won't work. The Delorean is gone, Doc is living in the past with Clara and Jules and Verne. Marty and Jennifer will get married and marty will probably become a huge rock star b/c he didn't get into that car crash with Needles. That poured most of his life into rebuilding Doc's first time machine to perhaps change something that happened. Say for example his girlfriend from the first three movies was killed or somthing like that.

Basically yes the whole plotline from the original movie is finished, but why not start a whole new one?
I was thinking maybe an evil genius would come up with his own time machine, this one however would be a bit more advanced.....
For example, it'd be something cool like a Mclaren, that way the car would hit 88 mph before the delorean.
I see the evil doc played by Gary Oldman.
Anyway, have it so current marty finds out this evil genius' plot to enslave the human race with the time machine and he gets some kid that was a lot like him at his age to help him go after the guy.
And get this, have some fun with it, make it so Doc shows up to help marty build a time machine, but make it an alternate dimension doc who instead of making a time machine in 1955 he made a dimensional traveling machine.

The only way it would work with what MJF said is if he played an aged Marty who became a scientist (inspired by Doc Brown), but not be Doc Brown himself.
But it STILL wouldn't be the same. What was great about the trilogy is that is kept the same cast for all the characters (except Jennifer and an old George) even though the characters differed a bit in different time periods - jo42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0More proof that Hollywood does not have any creativity left - since all they can do is rehash olde stuff.
