- insanecee, on 07/17/2008, -0/+14Plus Obi-Wan is in it...... and he is our only hope
- greenroom628, on 07/17/2008, -0/+13with all due respect to george lucas, giving the star wars movie helm (writing and directing) to others is part of what made the original trilogy great. its good to see that the clone wars (although animated) is looking to keep that tradition.
- jamauss, on 07/18/2008, -1/+7I bought a couple of these "Clone Wars" DVD's about 2 years ago for my son. I actually ended up sitting there with him watching them all the way through - they're pretty good.
- xboxrant, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6I figured they were going to kill the Star Wars world with this animated show, but the more I see the more hope I have.
- AshamedAmerican, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5Where have you been for the last 9 years? Lucas already killed it.
- JorusC, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5Does anyone else find it weird that they did a direct remake of their own animated series, without once referring to the fact that it's a redux? Cartoon Network already mastered this puppy; I don't think Lucas can do anything but ruin it. There's nothing as cool as the episode-long fight between Mace Windu and an entire army.
- Pusod, on 07/18/2008, -3/+7Am I the only one here who thinks the stylized look of the characters is reminiscent of Samurai Jack, or some cartoon you'd likely see on the FOX network? It cheapens the concept a little don't cha think?
- Pusod, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4no they don't suck. i love the humor. it's pretty original. i just think they could have done a better job at the over all look of this film. I'm thinking more realistic looking and less cartoony like Final Fantasy: Advent Children. I'm seriously thinking they did not want to invest all that effort and money into making such a movie which would have looked so much better on the big screen. Thats just my opinion.
- Browzer, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3That's not a review. It's an article about the movie. Reviews don't interview the director and stars of the movie.
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Have to see it in full score before I pass on my reccommendation.
- GrouchoMarx42, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4Well, seeing as the character design was influenced by the Clone Wars animated series from a couple of years ago, which was designed by Genndy Tartakovsky, who also served as the creator for Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack, that really comes as no surprise...
- thatsgoodkarma, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4There will have to be a lot of very persuasive convincing to get me to see this.
- GumdoMike, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3Lucas initially planned just a TV show. But as he viewed the first footage, "he said, `This looks great. The fans should really see this on the big screen,'... and make George Lucas more money.
- quail20, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4Was it Cartoon Network that ran CLONE WARS, THE ANIMATED SERIES? I remember watching an episode late at night while traveling and thinking it was more entertaining than the second episode of Star Wars. A month or two later a paper reported that the animated series had incredible ratings. The DVDs sold well too. From the looks of the animation the same people who did the TV show are bringing this one to the screen.
- GeddyLee24, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3Please dont suck please don't suck please don't suck. Don't think I can handle being burned by Star Wars again.
- rodrigo74, on 07/18/2008, -2/+4When it comes to writing skills, you may be right, coz both suck at it.
- jayscot, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Boooo...please bring back the sharp wit and talented actors from the days of the old Star Wars.
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2Those were entirely urnelated. Very good, but this CGI series is much more a digital return to Star Wars form than Gendy's Clone Wars, which was moreof a stylistic tie in,
Having said that solely for making clear this isn't remotely THAT style... You will probably love these more. Whatever movie had the theatrical trailer a while back surprised me. The stuff dealing with Jabba felt like Star Wars, and it has made me wonder how likely the return of Han, Leia, and Luke is.
By that I mean, I hope that george sees the peole he picked to make this imbued it with the magic SW fans wanted, and gives a little more in allowing the story to live on. AKA Episode 7-9 - quamb, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3The trailer for this got boo'd at last night's Dark Knight screening. Guessing it aint going to do too crash hot in the box office.
- dissolutionman, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Well, I suppose it was only a matter of time until Star Wars was completely CGI.
- Dundasbro, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3"coz"?
- JorusC, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2The Cartoon Network Clone Wars rock! It's pure action the whole way through, except for some brief pauses for atmosphere. Creative new villains, Jedi battling underwater, armies of clones jumping across open space to invade a battleship. And, as previously noted, it's the Samurai Jack people doing it, so it's clever and stylish.
- filmbandit, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2do those suck too?
- Apocalyptic0n3, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Not that it matters but this wasn't reviewed by Yahoo!. It was reviewed by an Associated Press writer and Yahoo! posts pretty much any AP article that ever goes up.
- Andrwmorph, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1I think the animation style is kinda silly...
- theMADone, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1all due respect? read splinter of the minds eye and tell me he deserves respect, thats the empire strikes back had he been left to his own devices. the guy should have a restraining order on anything he has been involved with in the past.
- antdude, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Yes and online too the next day after showing on TV.
- sgxyay, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1I saw this trailer when I went to see Hellboy2....it looks pretty bad, and I'd totally be up for some good animated Star Wars. The CG in the Force Unleashed game trailers looked more technically impressive than this feature film.
- slantyeyed, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1I wonder where and when the story will occur compared to Genndy's Clone Wars? Will it be the same or a different canon?
- robdiggity, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Yeah. Dude wore sweaters and sold pudding pops in the 80s?
- MRintheKeys, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0No.....there is another.....
- phrenzy, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1One thing's for sure. It can't be any WORSE than the prequels. Sad that we have to look to a ***** animated movie to redeem some of the shambles that Old Lucas has made of his franchise.
- leeda33, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0What has gotten into Mr Lucas when making this animation???? Surely, Mr Lucas couldn't have approved this or anticiapted a warm reception by us all with this one. Mind just boggles!!!! The graphic quality seemed to resemble the older versions of PS2 games. Are you sure this wasn't compiled using your concept reels?? I have loved every Star Wars episodes and this my friend, you have lost it unfortunately....
- digitalcam12, on 11/23/2008, -0/+0I like Clone Wars and all Star Wars
- TheLastLyricist, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0Clone Wars? Pre-Original Trilogy? YAWN. After decades worth of source material: comics, books, and games that the Expanded Universe offers, why does Lucas insist on milking this boring time period that's already had films, games, and a TV show devoted to it, all in recent history? I would like to see something fresh come to the big screen, such as the New Republic era, Thrawn, New Jedi Order, Yuuzhan Vong war, and hell even KOTOR. Please Lucas, stop retelling stories that we already know the outcome to. If not, then I hope that there will be a decent plot to go along with that lame Sega Saturn animation.
- Pusod, on 07/18/2008, -4/+3Not cool... see below.
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -3/+1Yahoo is going bust.
- HuskyPuzzle, on 07/18/2008, -7/+2I'm down for any kind of animated movies these days. Star Wars is a classic that probably shouldn't be messed with animated flicks are always good times...on weed.
- phetasy, on 07/17/2008, -11/+2George Lucas is a God.
