- AshamedAmerican, on 04/06/2009, -1/+99What they did to Deadpool in that movie was the real crime.
- agentsrecord, on 04/06/2009, -4/+74"Interestingly, most people think that the leak will actually do the movie good, as a poll among our readers indicates that 40% would be more excited to see it in the movie theater or on DVD"
You know, it would have been REALLY clever if Fox released an unfinished copy of the movie mere weeks before it was due for the box office to drive up interest in the finished piece.
But I wouldn't give them that much credit. - Knowitallism, on 04/06/2009, -3/+67I did it.
- cl2yp71c, on 04/06/2009, -1/+55To eat the beef.
- bbqsalad, on 04/06/2009, -2/+49cus the cow is a lot better and in HD with surround sound?
- DevSingh1359, on 04/06/2009, -4/+43This movie sucked on all sorts of levels. But at least I got some good laughs out of the unfinished special effects and director's notes.
"CLAWS GROW HERE"
*red arrows point to Schrieber's nails* - jericko, on 04/06/2009, -0/+37If its a good movie, people will go see it.
Look at Taken, there were even blu-ray rips of that movie out before it hit US theaters and the movie rocked so much, its already at 140 Million and still pulling it in. - evilesttoast, on 04/06/2009, -0/+36I wanted to believe so hard that wasn't Deadpool. So hard...
- pradaaddict, on 04/06/2009, -2/+27I downloaded it. The movie was disappointing but it was cool to see the CGI as a work in progress, it kinda gives you a bit of insight into how the CGI gets done. The only part that I really liked was the title sequence with Wolverine and Sabertooth fighting in all the great wars.
Seeing the workprint did spark my interest in the film, X-2 was so crappy that I didn't pay any attention to Wolverine before this workprint leak fiasco and if someone asked me to go see the final version in threaters I probably would just so I can compare the versions and see what the product looks like finished. - RJ0534, on 04/06/2009, -0/+24An illegal download does not necessarily mean a lost sale.
- ZimbuTheMonkey, on 04/06/2009, -6/+27No amount of special effects is gonna save this movie. The dialogue was ***** and the acting was worse. Does Marvel even read the script before green-lighting a movie?
- kekoa543, on 04/06/2009, -0/+20I'm so glad I didn't pay money for this. The only reason I wanted to see it was because of Deadpool, which they ruined so atrociously I feel I even want my 2 hours back. He has no mouth but he must wisecrack...
- aceakm, on 04/06/2009, -0/+18Ryan Reynolds was awesome as Deadpool when he was talking. All 2 minutes of it.
- AshamedAmerican, on 04/06/2009, -0/+16He has Wolverine's healing ability.
He has Spider-Man's mouth.
He has Punisher's arsenal.
He converses with himself constantly.
He breaks the 4th wall regularly.
He is completely *****.
When we see Wade in the beginning, THAT is Deadpool. Throw a mask and a few guns on him and that is Deadpool to a tee.
Does that help? - DevSingh1359, on 04/06/2009, -1/+14After seeing 20th Century Fox take huge dumps all over properties like X-Men, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Dragonball, and even almost sabotaging Watchmen, I really don't feel sorry for them.
- thornghost, on 04/06/2009, -1/+14Conspiracy theory time:
If this movie is a stinker, and Fox knows it, then they could have conceivably released this leak, knowing how many people would download it. When the numbers are low, instead of having to admit they made a bad movie, Fox turns the whole thing around into a huge PR and legal attack against torrenting and says that the movie didn't make bank because of piracy, not because it was bad.
They're not recouping their losses, but at least they get something positive (for them) out of the deal. - hybrid45, on 04/06/2009, -1/+13Does a bear politely sit on a golden toilet in a mansion, take a *****, and then clean itself with a platinum bidet?
- Langford, on 04/06/2009, -0/+12I'm sure seeing the leak probably impacts different people in different ways. Some will want to see it on the big screen, some will not want to see it again, and some may pretend they've not seen it and then pretend to psychically know what will happens next when at the movie with friends.
- Captainbobo, on 04/06/2009, -1/+12They raped Deadpool. Just like how Stephen Spielberg raped Indian Jones.
I hope someone else does make another film where they just ignore this whole "incident," just like with the two Hulk movies, where the Edward Norton just ignores the awefulness of the Eric Bana. - CoreyTamas, on 04/06/2009, -0/+10I feel pretty bad for Hugh Jackman right now. An actor loses a lot of sleep wondering about the success of a film in which he is the headliner, and this is probably really worrying him. If it were just some RIAA exec, I wouldn't let it bother me... but I kinda like Jackman.
- TheXboxReview, on 04/06/2009, -1/+11Well, the milk in this case had no special effects. Which the movie depends on.
- Meyithi, on 04/06/2009, -1/+11Film is crap - they can now blame the leak as the source of fail instead of the truth which is the film is crap!
- chrisvc86, on 04/06/2009, -1/+11For me, seeing the leaked makes me want to go see the real finished product even more. Its the whole seeing an unfinished cut and seeing what changes they made that intrigues me. Yeah, the movie seems average, but it's entertaining. Shame on them for what they did to Dead Pool.
- hybrid45, on 04/06/2009, -1/+11I think you meant to write X-3. X-2 was actually the best of the bunch. But that's like saying this pile of ***** is better than that pile of *****... so w/e...
- moofree, on 04/06/2009, -1/+10It was still better than X-Men 3 with CG.
- rbfbeerguy, on 04/06/2009, -2/+11The movie sucks, watched it and it could not be any lamer. I rather watch X-3 than this ever again. Even unfinished it just builds on boredom and bad plot twists.
- fangor, on 04/06/2009, -1/+10You haven't seen it, have you? It's a workprint, which means it's the entire movie, sans special effects. There are tron-o-riffic polygon placeholders where things like buildings and airplanes are supposed to go. If anything, seeing the work print made me want to go see it MORE (I wasn't really going to bother before).
- lintmonkey, on 04/06/2009, -0/+9F...friends?
- WhiteMike87, on 04/06/2009, -0/+9but what was the point of cyclops?
- Calamier, on 04/06/2009, -2/+11The arguments of MPAA are crumbling around them. Next week the result of the pirate bay trial will be released, without a doubt, cleared of all charges.
- GodTM, on 04/06/2009, -0/+9Wait a minute... I thought they removed it from the Internet? :D
- dsmx, on 04/07/2009, -0/+8Never forget it was announced that this movie was removed from the internet.
- beachsouthpaw, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7***** Deadpool. At least I didn't have to spend money just to be saddened and pissed.
- Philbert, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7And with effects.
- smpaisnutrients, on 04/06/2009, -1/+8to give them an excuse to cast captain picard. also to give deadpool eye laser.
- kevro, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7If the studio was smart they would look at all the feed back from fans, hold the release until later in the summer and polish the film more. That's the biggest test audience ever. The movie will make over $100,000, 000 regardless.
- sadisticmind, on 04/06/2009, -1/+8they look alike to me
- pixelate, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7*spoilers*
He doesn't turn into a mute with all of those different powers.
He starts out a wisecracking normal guy who is an expert assassin (with swords and firearms).
Eventually he finds out he has terminal cancer, agrees to a procedure that will give him a healing ability (derived from Wolverine's DNA). But something goes wrong and he ends up horribly scarred. The experiment does keep him alive, but the cancer and his healing factor are constantly at war within his body and mind (which also results in mental instability). But even through all this, he's still 'the merc with a mouth'.
I think he also has a personal teleportation device in the comics, so that's ... sort of in the movie.

I hope he gets a spinoff that sticks more closely to the comic book version. I thought Ryan Reynolds was a great fit for the part, and I think the idea of *A* Weapon XI as a final battle wasn't a bad one. But making Deadpool that final monstrosity was kind of hard to swallow, and it just served to take away his trademark qualities. - mediamaker, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7I finished the effects on my own
- Zenophon, on 04/07/2009, -0/+7I am Spartacus
- TomTruelle, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7Me too, it was awesome.
- Rndm_Tngnt, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7Marvel had no control over the script (or anything involving this movie for that matter). They sold the underlying film rights to the X-Men and related characters to Fox.
Fox called the shots on this turd. - GoKings, on 04/06/2009, -1/+8I really hope this doesn't drastically affect the movie release numbers. This is one of the pirated movies that I simply don't agree with. There's a lot of movies that I would just never go see, and so I download them. Maybe if I recommend it to someone else they will go buy/rent the film. No money lost, or in some cases money gained. But downloading a movie that hasn't even been released in theaters kind of sucks, and before it is even finished is even worse. I hope people still show up at the theater, even though the reviews have been lackluster at best.
- Captainbobo, on 04/06/2009, -0/+6Its okay, he can cry himself to sleep on his bed of money and his pretty face...
- Myonosken, on 04/06/2009, -0/+6I think it is important, though, how many of that 60% are less interested. If it is more than 40% it doesn't help the case really.
Edit: I note they don't mention this in the article. Whether people THINK the film will do worse as a result of the leak is a different question. There's also the issue of the survey being carried out by a torrenting site... - chrisvc86, on 04/06/2009, -1/+7I agree with you there, but to give them credit, since that cut they have done extensive reshoots, and poured millions into the movie.
- squeevey, on 04/06/2009, -0/+6that was Ryan Reynolds (van wilder) - DEFINITELY Not Dane Cook.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458525/ - lucidapathy, on 04/06/2009, -0/+6I couldn't disagree more. X3 was pretty awful. W:O wasn't that bad. It felt a bit forced, and rushed especially the whole romantic relationship thing. All in all though it was head and shoulders above X3.
- Dinsdale77, on 04/06/2009, -0/+6Guilty
- smpaisnutrients, on 04/06/2009, -0/+5I'm still gonna see it in theaters, but now I won't have to wait another month getting excited to see deadpool. The film was certainly entertaining, but they took the existing story canon and promptly decided to forget about it. Comic movies seem to be doing this more, as well as the final boss characters like Deadpool. Instead of making some new challenge they just coral a bunch of abilities together into one bad guy. It's very unoriginal. I'm also interested to know how Deadpool can bend his arms with those long ass swords in them.
Furthur, way to go Marvel, you ***** up even adamantium now. Apparently it comes from space (instead of being made by humans) and CAN be destroyed if you shoot it with adamantium. And all you have to do to get it on your bones is inject i t into your skin. Nevermind how you'd fail to get proper coverage, or that adamantium is 1500 degrees and would melt your skin and bones, even if you could regenerate. Pah. -
