I saw it yesterday when it came out in Australia, and being a big Xfiles fan I was really really disappointed. It could have just a result of my constant hyping for the better part of a year, but I think it was also just a nothing movie.
And Xibit was so so painfully crap.

Here's some non-spoiler tidbits: They mention "William", you do see more than 2 familiar faces, the whole movie plays out like a two-hour/two-parter episode, a monster of the week bit. I really liked the show up until Season 7, as did a lot of fans. This movie doesn't have one explosion, not one alien, not one gun being fired. And I feel bad for everyone involved in the creation of this movie that pitted it against TDK. Because, even being a huge X-Files fan, I would have rather paid $20 to see TDK twice than to see each once. Not that it was a bad film. It's not. It's like a MOTW episode. A long one. I don't remember one part that made me think "oh, they had to do this as a movie"... it does seem like it's about 4 years too late. And the whole idea that they could do a mythos arch movie set for the invasion in 2012... I doubt this movie will break even. Excuse me, I have an IMax movie to see....

It had a very real, visceral feel. It was smart. It was psychological. I needed to think. I liked that I needed to think. If this one does well, however, Carter has said the next XF movie would deal with the whole mythology 2012 alien apocalypse thing.

When I heard that the new X-Files movie wasn't going to continue the plot, I lost a lot of interest in it. i am very saddened that this movie was as bad as it was :-/
watching the acting.. it was liek no one even wanted to do it.. there was no emotion when tehy talked about sam. they should of not even said anything about her.. i understood where they were going with it as soon as i saw the picture on the door. no need to go in to the minute talk in the car about her.

the movie doesnt really have anything to do with xfiles cept lame referances to a psychic .. who the movie kinda revolves around and i found it funny as hell that it did becaue they talk about him being a pedophile the full time and how he molested 37 kids...
