http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/tls/trailer/ - Machinesamba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I know that my opinion is in the minority on this, which is totally cool, but I wanted to chime in and say that I'm excited to see a new director on the X-MEN. I don't really think Brian Singer is a very good craftsman. His action sequences are horrible and the completely sub-par script for the second film was even worse than the one for the first, which is really saying something. I'm a huge comic book fan (in fact I work in comics now) and it's a little bothersome to me that such mundane work gets so profoundly celebrated. As far as I'm concerned (and this is all just my opinion being thrown into the great big pot) there’s been one scene worth a ***** in each X-MEN film and both have been about Magneto. Him as a child in Germany in the first film and him escaping from the plastic prison in the second. Those were great scenes that felt fresh and different. Beyond that there seems to be no imagination, depth or even just flat out serious ass kicking (any one of the three will do for me) in the two previous films. I have no idea if this third one will be an improvement or not, but I wasn't even going to go see another Singer X-MEN so at least the team change will get me into the theatre. Thanks for letting my voice of dissent be heard. Peace.
- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Lord of the rings for starters...
- Broadway, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11It's got the kid from the IBM linux commercial! Look closely at the end of the trailer.

The Director of "The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl" and the "Spy Kids" movies probibly wasnt a fan favorite either until he put out a little gem by the name of SIN CITY.
opinion? This movie is going to kick ass. - jizzimmy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Heh, Juggernaut looked kind of weak.
- drdcuddy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11did anyone see the asian guy that could make his face turn completely into spikes- resembling his asian hair do?
- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8phoenix is going to own all.
- lukaso, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I can't believe I forgot Lord of the Rings. Goodbye Godfather.
Here is the list of Top Box Office Trilogies:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/trilogy.htm - DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Uh incorrect, before he was the director of "The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl" and the "Spy Kids" he was the director of "El Mariachi", "Desperado" and "From Dusk Til Dawn". He's always had a following.
- Nodren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6he does, but if he was completely CGI we'd all have complained about how they overdid it.
- vpcwiu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Anyone else think Juggernaut looks like Man-At-Arms from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe? heh heh...
- lavawalker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Here is HD. albeit the teaser version.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/tls/hd/ - DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"I don't know, I just thought it was weird considering how little the letter X is used in our alphabet."
"X" has been overused in marketing since the early "extreme" 90s. Now we have a lower case "i" in front of everything. What makes X-men notable is that they came out in the 60s, long before the extreme era. - ngageguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It would be great if they gave Jean a dark phoenix outfit like the comic (any of them) or let her do a "phoenix effect" ala CGI of course. Anyone care to try and photo-shop the actress in a comic-like Phoenix Effect? Something like what is seen on this page for instance? http://www.thephoenixforce.com/darkphoenix.html
If this is 1/2 as good as the other movies, I will die happy. - crapiolio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5WOW, that's cool. X-men armies!
- lukaso, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's gonna be really really good. I think this will be in the top 5 trilogys of all time along with Star Wars, Indianna Jones, The Matrix & The Godfather. Knocking Back to the Future down to #6.
What are the other all time best Trilogys that I am forgetting? - Brhine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The dark haired girl is Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, without the Mystique makeup. I'm guessing she was either cured or is near Leech, the boy who provides the cure. He is played by Cameron Bright who was the boy in God Send and is in Ultraviolet. He also played the decendant ancient younger bodied boyfriend of Carter in Stargate-SG1
- Tripmoneyuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"sorry to burst your bubbles but the script aparantly was really bad, and the director of rush hour isn't exactly a fan favourite either. trailer looks good, though so do most trailers. opinion? its going to stink and kill the x men movie franchise."
I read the supposed script for this film that was released online (quite a while back) & the original script was bad, but it's all been rewriten since then.
They have all the ingredients for a kick ass movie, so it will be a real shame if they mess it up. - MattZed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4sweeeeeeeeet!! i love beast..
- vpcwiu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't think you can leave out the opening sequence in X2 with Nightcrawler.
- merdeisel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6A little late now but i wish that they used a hotter girl for Rogue, she was always a babe.
- pinnette, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6the last 2 xmen movies were great(imo) and both were "tainted by fox". I don't understand your point. I would also like to point out that the '90s Saturday morning cartoon was pretty cool and should be released in a dvd set. This was also "tainted by fox". I hate that they cancel great shows like Family Guy and Arrested Development but they do put them out in the first place.
- sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This, and Spiderman 3, will sell obscene amounts of tickets. You cannot debate this.
- Chongo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3they did....but I'm thinking it's going to be like from the comic book Red Omega style. Notice how Beast gets near the child and his hand turns normal...... Red Omega had a DEATH factor where any non-mutant who gets near him dies. maybe it's like a anti-mutant factor or something.
- sk545, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3where's gambit?
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This actually is the first X-MEN movie. The last two were Wolverine: The Movie 1 & 2. It took a director who wasn't Bryan Singer to achieve this.
There's a reason why Singer couldn't keep the camera off of Hugh Jackman's bare chest, afterall... - TheGalacticFork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh shat.....now that's how you end a trilogy....
This is going to be one to see. - imdwalrus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What's wrong with Beast as played by Kelsey Grammar?
If you ask me, he's just about perfect for Hank McCoy. Sure, he might not be the first choice come action scenes...but when Beast is in the lab or elsewhere, Grammar's (faux?) intellectual streak is going to work wonderfully with the character.
Can YOU think of a better choice for portraying the character?
(Crap. This was intended in response to dolemite right below me; I have no idea why it jumped up here. The new comment system hates me...) - Dolemite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Bah!
These films are continued bastardization of classic X-Men Story lines:
1) God Loves Man Kills
2) Jean Grey -> Phoenix
3) ArcAngel
4) Rogue -> Evil Rogue
When are the classic X-Men lineup of characters going to have main parts for an entire film? In films #'s 1 and 2, Colossus was a bit player now in #3 he's being billed as a main character. In X-Men 2 Nightcrawler was introduced and according to IMDB.com he's not even in the new film. Beast finally appears in the third film starring none other than Dr. Fraiser Crane.
The X-men films are beginning to slip into Batman-esque lameness.
Same thing goes for the Villans. - whowantthefunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That was really stupid to post that comment...What if someone who hasn't seen 24 is reading this?
- whowantthefunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Maybe we should get some discussion going on the content of the trailer. Here are my thoughts:
1) When Wolverine is talking about "I'm not your father. I you want to go, make sure it's what you want." I think he's talking to Rogue and I think she might be going to be "cured". This is supported by Iceman getting cosey with Kitty Pryde (after he freezes the fountain) which would make Rogue desire human touch more and also by if you look in the scene where the X-men are lined up you see from left to right: Beast, Storm, Wolverine, Kitty Pryde (I think, much smaller than Rogue, but could also be Jubilee I guess, cause Kitty's power wouldn't be very good for making a frontal stand), Iceman, and Colossus (Looks like they are standing front of the soldiers that Magneto is attacking, you can see some along the walls in the back of the picture). Also backup by the fact that when Storm is saying "There is nothing wrong with any of us", she is talking to Rogue and Xavier, so maybe Rogue went to Xavier to talk to him about the getting the "cure".
2) The scene wear Wolverine is kneeling and Storm is hugging him near Prof. X's wheelchair...follows a scene with Prof X facing Phoenix earlier and still in the same room. In the earlier scene it appears Phoenix is making everything in the room whip up in a torrent. I'm guessing that Xavier stops Phoenix somehow telepathecally but this leads to Phoenix somehow either killing them both or dissappearing into some place only Phoenix can go (this would be more true to the comics with Phoenix's origin).
3)The explosion through the water in the scenes with Cyclops...It appears Cyclops gets overwhelmed with finding Jean and in a desperate attempt tries to burn the water away with his optic blast (I think the scene with teh water vaporizing actually follows the one where he takes of his glasses and fires his blast). This might awaken Jean (from the energy), which in turn knocks him backwards. This is then followed by Storm dispersing the mist that formed from Cyclops blasting the water. Then we see Storm finding Cyclops and Logan finding Phoenix (notice the rocks floating in the air behind Logan's left shoulder.
4) The scene with Logan flying into the wall of the infirmary follows the one at the end where Phoenix is asking him to help her (just before she busts the door in)
That's all I got for now. - DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5The Aint-It-Cool-News crowd has trashed it, but I can at least tell from the trailer alone that Ratner has a much better handle on how to do action scenes than Singer does.
- Meshyf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Finally something at the movies to get excited about. Beast is awesome!
- tmanka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Now if they would ONLY RELEASE THE HD version of it I could see it FULL SCREEN!!! (My laptop display can show 1080i natively)'"
I would be shocked if your laptop shows 1080i, more like 1080p, I am not aware of any laptop/computer monitor doing anything in an Interlaced mode over a progressive. - dweeb73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3as long as she doesnt appear as Catwoman!
edit: whoops wrong reply box..damn this new digg - quamb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4actually Robert Rodriguez was/is a fan favourite. Bad example there.
Just because he did kids films never spoiled his 'cult' following.
Where as- Brett Ratner, a b-list director, has been called upon to direct a big budget sequel with a bad script and little to no time. And X-men aint your run of the mill action film either. There was a reason Fox hired Bryan Singer for the first 2, and wanted him for the third.
Already spoilers have leaked and it aint pretty- major xmen characters die, stupid romances, derivative set pieces etc etc. Though yeah, I am hoping it still kicks ass despite the bad press. - BaCk1a5h, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Rambo!
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I hope Storm gets killed off. Halle can't act.
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I know it's trendy to make fun of Godfather III... but it really did have the best plot twist of all three of them.
- MLBudToo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Awesome trailer. Now here's hoping that the best parts of the movie weren't just shown to America, as is the case with many a trailer...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2One word.....AWESOME! Can't wait!
- vpcwiu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Beginning? It's been lame since the first movie in my opinion. I didn't think Singer did any justice to the franchise in the first film. X2 was a little better but still far from its potential when you compare it to other franchises like Spider-man.
- Sniper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Let me guess. Cyclops dies?
- 1337d00d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Im pretty sure they are making Indiana Jones 4,, is that a quadradry
- blankoboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Didn't get me all that jazzed....getting tired of Hollywood crap lately.
/meh - brenthals, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've heard that there will be a Wolverine movie next.
- nfbarrett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2he is the kid in "Ultraviolet"
- Steaminx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2She's hot though...
You can't deny that. -
