- Angelix, on 04/29/2008, -4/+72Seriously, pausing GTA IV for one day won't kill you.
- chocobomog, on 04/29/2008, -1/+52But... but... but.. Halo 3 hurt the box office of the highly anticipated film Heartbreak Kid. It had Ben Stiller in it therefore everyone and their mother wanted to see it, then Halo 3 came out and everyone (and their mother) played that instead. How do you explain Heartbreak Kid's failure?!? I mean, its not like Hollywood makes crappy movies that no one wants to see...
- surKaz, on 04/29/2008, -3/+48Seriously.. I don't think it will have much effect.. Like the article (more like "here's what I think") said, many people (like me) who are really into (and I mean "into") GTA4 are also excited about Ironman... so.. I can probably take sometime off GTA 3 days after playing it to watch Ironman when it releases.
- aenima987, on 04/29/2008, -2/+43no
- borez, on 04/29/2008, -3/+38Who cares, we're all gonna get it from bittorrent anyway.
- xBBx, on 04/29/2008, -3/+35I know I am going to play GTA IV a lot! But nothing will stop me from getting out of the house on the weekend to hang out with my friends, having dinner together, and catching a flick. I'm not that much of a shut in...YET...
- xBBx, on 04/29/2008, -0/+30Woa woa woa...a day? I wouldn't got that far. I'm talking about a couple of hours just to go out and enjoy the world. A day without a game of some sort might very well kill any gamer.
- curseoflou, on 04/29/2008, -0/+23agreed, GTA4 should have very little effect if any on Ironman.
also, this is probably one of the more mind numbingly stupid things i have read today, and that's saying a lot on digg. - Jalh, on 04/29/2008, -0/+23windows xp sp3 will hurt both !
- frasermorrison, on 04/29/2008, -10/+27I personally will not be leaving the house until the game is completed, not even for Iron man. I better get my holidays in, Bye Bye work! ;)
- nailPuppy, on 04/29/2008, -2/+18Average ticket price of $6.82? Wow, where the hell do you live?
- getbusylivin, on 04/29/2008, -1/+14"most people (not all) just like them because they are the trendy game to play"
IMO, most people who put '420' in their screen name are newbie smokers who just do it to be trendy.
See how easy that was. - thestrongrope, on 04/29/2008, -1/+14LOL. Yeah, Iron Man is only going to be about 90 minutes right, so if you do need to go see it, than the game should only be paused for about 3 hours... at most!
- JoEBlack982, on 04/29/2008, -3/+16nerds with no one to hang out with will bittorrent it.
fixed - funk49, on 04/29/2008, -2/+12Jesus...are you that cheap that you would rather watch it for free on a ***** Torrent rip than on a 25 ft. screen in Dolby THX? Holy *****, you need a job.
- darkmist, on 04/29/2008, -0/+9No, but final exams will have an impact on both. (or rather, both might have an impact on your final exam scores...)
- djdole, on 04/29/2008, -0/+8ohhhh my god. THEY AREN'T RELATED.
BURY - KokomoNYC, on 04/29/2008, -1/+8RAWR! I'M ANGRY!
"most people (not all) just like them because they are the trendy game to play"
Where do you even get "most" from? I didn't know playing games has become some kind of fashion thing. "Only hipsters play Atari!" Right.... - inactive, on 04/29/2008, -0/+6I think the Iron Man movie should be more worried about it being another ***** poorly done comic book movie.
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -1/+7Contrary to popular belief among the older generation (and by older, I mean the clueless old men that still infest WB Studios, Miramax, ect), I can put down my controller long enough to go see a movie like Iron-Man. Just because I love videogames doesn't mean it's like a heroin addiction.
*riding to local theatre* "OH ***** I CAN'T STAND IT ANY LONGER! I NEED MY FIX!"*goes back home* - tokipost, on 04/29/2008, -3/+9i think it will..
- deviouster, on 04/29/2008, -1/+7It's $9.75 here..
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -0/+6And since you're already out, you can kill a few hookers too.
- Bukowsky, on 04/29/2008, -0/+5It's a plausible theory... but overall I don't think there will be much effect on the overall Box Office of Iron Man.
- Awspire, on 04/29/2008, -0/+4Slipstream new service pack, create cd, backup my data, zero out and re-partition my HDD, install OS, update, install drivers, tweak, install apps, update apps, configure personal settings, defragment, create acronis image, done. Day shot.
- ozid, on 04/29/2008, -0/+4they should just start streaming movies to homes for the ticket price via the game if this becomes a huge concern.
seriously if they had it so you could go to the movie theater in gtaIV, buy your tickets, it downloads the movie while you do a mission or go to a bar or kill peeps, and when its done your cell rings and you go back to the theater, watch the movie in full screen on your TV.
problem solved. - z3021017, on 04/29/2008, -5/+9I saw Iron Man at the Australian Premier (RDJ in attendance) and I recommend this movie highly. I thought it was as good as the first Spider-Man movie.
- cerealjynx, on 04/29/2008, -2/+6Lets get to the root of the question here.
Does anyone even care? - mal1964, on 04/29/2008, -0/+4Nobody wants him He just stares at the world.
Planning his vengeance that he will soon unfurl.
Now the time is here for ironman to spread fear.
Vengeance from the grave kills the people he once saved
Nobody wants him they just turn their heads.
Nobody helps him now he has his revenge. - jpezzznuts, on 04/29/2008, -0/+4Its no different than when struggling food companies blamed everything on Atkins dieters for poor bottom lines when in reality it was simply bad business decisions. If people don't go see Iron Man its because they didn't care to do that over other uses of their time and money (which includes video games and everything else under the sun).
- ChildeRoland420, on 04/29/2008, -0/+3Heh, I take offense to that.
- Berzerker7, on 04/29/2008, -0/+3I'll be doing both. Play GTA4 until I go see IronMan. Then, when it's over, back to the house to play more GTA4. :D
- KokomoNYC, on 04/29/2008, -0/+3Try it.
- bullcutter, on 04/29/2008, -3/+6hopefully
- lostprophet23, on 04/29/2008, -0/+3$11.25 here -.-
(Toronto, Canada btw) - Gizza, on 04/29/2008, -0/+3Lucky to get in for under $16 here in Aus. And if you're really rich you can splurge another $15 or so on a coke and popcorn.
- Doktag, on 04/29/2008, -1/+4"Allowance" doesn't strictly define the amount of money your mommy gives you every week. It can also describe the amount of money you personally set aside from your own income to do what you please.
- Riggs, on 04/29/2008, -0/+3Amen to that
- kingmanic, on 04/29/2008, -1/+4If you think Ironman is a 'stupidest' hero then you haven't done a sufficiently complete survey. She-Hulk? Lawyer for super heroes. Namor? The Marvel aquaman. Forge? super power, the ability to invent stuff! Ant Man? ANT MAN! Arm Fall Off Boy? Arm Fall Off Boy! Compare that to iron man.Iron man is down right shake spear in comparison. He mostly used energy weapons so when they can condense the out put of a nuclear reactor into a mobile human sized suit.... iron man would be down right plausible... but Arm Fall off boy!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah... I haven't even dipped into the DC cheese (matter eater lad....)
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -0/+3The demo sucked.
- lostprophet23, on 04/29/2008, -1/+4enough with you
- wild, on 04/29/2008, -1/+3I hope my sarcasm meter is just broken, cause you are a pathetic douchebag if it isn't.
- dasdef, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2all i know is that im playing it right now and i feel high.
- CodeCobalt, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2Ummm, iron man looks like a terrible movie, and maybe i'm out of the loop but I did not realize there was ANY hype for it.
Iron man, will be hurting his own sales as far as I'm concerned. iron man could be badass, but i'm doubtful. - jpjandrade, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2Well, I really don't intend to go see Ironman, because I'd rather play GTA IV in my free time. So GTA IV certainly had an effect on me.
- NinjaPirateDude, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2at least this was a better argument than the Halo 3 vs The Heartbreak Kid comparison
- NGliam, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2I'm really excited about GTA4, I'll definitely be getting it as soon as I can and it will fill up all my free time (around coursework). I'm not very into superheros, but Iron Man looks cool and I'll probably go see it. I'll fit it around GTA4.
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2it doesnt take all day to watch a movie...
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2who on earth would actually call it that after 15 years of age?
- RAT-Man, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2Mason is crazy. There's no way Iron Man of all the superhero's gets to $100 mil over 3 days. $70 mil or in the I Am Legend range seems about right.
