- chaos7, on 05/28/2009, -9/+75no terminator movie will ever be better than T2.
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -13/+71So the other day I was high on weed pulling my girls face into my lap. She was semi conscious from three hits of acid, but I really needed it bad. The T.V. was on in the background and this Terminator preview comes on. I start thinking, "that's a cool movie." Next thing I know I'm humpin Katies head and she is FREAKIN OUT. Falling backward Katie screams "you are the terminator!" "No way man" is all I could think to say. She starts crawlin away on her butt, just like that Sarah Connor in the psych ward. I thought "man I gotta do it." So I just start stabbin at her with this empty bottle vicodin. Then my mom comes in an FEAKS OUT, yellin at Katie, telling her to get out. I swear, the scene would have been real bad if my Dad was not sitting there in his chair. My Mom sees him, tells him to "put his ***** back in his pants." Katie doesn't know what the hell is goin on, starts yelling something like "i'm gonna give birth from my mouth" or some ***** like that. I grab Katie's top and bra, pull her up, and scream "I'm sick of this *****, all you guys do is fight, I hate you both." My life really sucks. I wish I was the terminator. Then I could blow ***** up.
- cosworth99, on 05/28/2009, -4/+61I'm going to send my dad back in time to make sure JJ Abrams directs T4.
If my father is unsuccessful, T5 - "Terminator: Mike Kripke's Basement" will be soft core porn. - akaakc, on 05/28/2009, -3/+48Probably the best T4 critique I've read. Well balanced, and not a bunch of "QQ Christian Bale's Batman voice is stupid QQ". I agree, it was an enjoyable action movie - but hardly an epic Terminator movie, as I had hoped it would be.
- bobbarkerbilly, on 05/28/2009, -3/+47Sam: Hey strange kid, you're cool.
Kyle: I think you're cool too.
**Robots comes and take away Kyle.
Sam: I'm going to risk life and limb to rescue you, kid who I barely know, but first I have to rescue this chick from her parachute line.
**Rescues Moon from parachute line.
Moon: I'm in love with you and think you're the greatest thing since sliced bread even though I just met you.
Sam: You're awesome.
**Sam finds out he's a cyborg. Moon frees him.
Sam: Whoa lady, you're cool. You totally betrayed your brothers in arms for some guy you just met.
Moon: You're hot!
Sam: We should have a sex scene, but this movie is only rated PG13, dammit.
**Connor eventually teams up with Sam.
Connor: I totally trust you now, cyborg who I just recently encountered.
Sam: Thanks buddy, have my heart. - inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+36What the hell?
- edru, on 05/28/2009, -1/+36Because James Cameron didn't make it?
- bnorman, on 05/28/2009, -8/+33I disagree.
I think that T3 is the odd film out of the 4. Every other film in the franchise has the theme of "No fate but what we make" Then in T3 it's completely flipped and it turns out you can't change fate. =/ Kind of ruins the whole theme of the series. - kingmanic, on 05/28/2009, -1/+24A James Cameron T5:
160% million over budget
At least 2 actors and 1 senior production crew swear he will never work with JC again
Almost as many exploding set pieces as a Micheal Bay Film
It would be both a good summer flick and oddly philosophical in just the right way
Will go one to gross more money then there currently exists - Dunpite, on 05/28/2009, -0/+20Because it ain't the governator
- geoman2k, on 05/28/2009, -1/+18you get a digg for that, sir
- darkened, on 05/28/2009, -1/+17Well you just summed up the entire plot of the movie.
- jsmithers, on 05/28/2009, -0/+16I DON'T CARE ABOUT THIS.
BRING BACK THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES!
yes, I'm shouting, and with good reason. - inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+15Boy you are a model member of society
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -5/+18Terminator Salivation fails as a movie because it doesn't tell you ONE thing that wasn't explained by T1 or T2.
It adds NOTHING to the terminator universe, and doesn't tell you anything that you don't already know. It's worthless. There are some decent action scenes, but if you didn't see the title of the movie, you'd assume it was another Transformers movie.
McG sucks. - alphatrance, on 05/28/2009, -3/+15it had lots of pretty explosions tho!
- lateralus, on 05/28/2009, -3/+15OHH GOOD FOR YOUUUU!
</CBale> - ZimbuTheMonkey, on 05/28/2009, -0/+12But T:S is the same way.
How could Connor have foreknowledge of the T800 and other future events if the theme "No fate but what we make" is still being respected? It means that the first two movies that focused so heavily on that theme were contradicted. Judgement Day STILL happened despite the actions of Sarah and John Connor and the T800-101.
This should have been a prequel movie, showing the destruction of the machine war timeline. They should have shown us how Skynet sends back the T-1000 and how Connor sends back the T-800 as a counter, knowing full well that it will probably erase his "present" self because he programmed the T-800 to destroy all evidence of this advanced technology. - DanteDefiance, on 05/28/2009, -2/+12It makes sense! JJ loves time travel plots after all.
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+10PUT DA COOKIE DOWN!
- geoman2k, on 05/28/2009, -7/+16digg.com should be renamed bash-on-terminator-salvation.com
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8Bah, the ending sucked and the "assassin"'s where everywhere! It's a different time and a different world. Plus, the T-800 was just being produced and the T-1000 wasn't even thought up yet. In some ways, this was a prequel. This is what everyone feared, everyone is still trying to stop.
Also, the ending sucked. Emotional *****, making no sense. They should have kept the intensity with more cold-blooded terminator attacks. The beginning of that movie was intense! - atlasdugged, on 05/28/2009, -3/+11I had to stop reading the article before I hit the spoilers because I plan to see it this weekend. However I love the creative process and reinterpretation of the same theme.
- PeteyEks, on 05/28/2009, -4/+12Yea, that's what happens when a movie sucks.
- mythicflux, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8Actually T1 was also based on the idea that you couldn't change fate. Only the dialog from Kyle Reese contradicted that fact. Everything else that happens in the movie hints at an immutable time. For example Reese's picture of Sarah in the future is the one she has taken at the end of the movie. SkyNet doesn't know who John's father is, turns out to be the very man sent by John to save his mother.
If you treat T1 as a standalone movie, the message is that Kyle's mission to save Sarah is part of a causality loop that leads to war with SkyNet. Only T2 introduces the idea that the future could be changed. - mythicflux, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8Because the machines didn't realize they were in a predestination paradox. The machines were loosing and willing to try anything to win. So they sent a machine back as a last resort, but SkyNet wasn't aware that in trying to stop John's birth, they were ensuring it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predestination_parado ... - bnorman, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8Good points. That would have been a much better movie.
Go to Hollywood man! - asnider, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8Can I take this to mean that you haven't seen T2? Because, you really should.
- Hetman, on 05/28/2009, -0/+7What do they call your act again?
- wannaBdug, on 05/28/2009, -9/+16I still want to see it. Maybe it will stand on it's own.
- eraser34, on 05/28/2009, -6/+12I went to the theatre to see an action Movie.
I saw an action movie, PACKED with great action scenes, and an interesting story.
People need to stop over-hyping every movie. - cnot3, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6You forgot
Bale: WHAT ARRRRRRE YOOOOOOOU??????!??!?!?!?!?!? - LilJimmyNordin, on 05/28/2009, -5/+11"Terminator Salvation is a greatBURIED AS INACCURATE
- SteveIsTheDude, on 05/28/2009, -3/+9A giant Terminator robot in a Trailer does not a good movie make...
Saw it... Sucked. - wendelgee2, on 05/28/2009, -5/+11you'll be disappointed.
- Phernoree, on 05/28/2009, -1/+7I HIGHLY advise anybody who's interested in the Terminator saga to read the material on the following website:
http://www.goingfaster.com/term2029/contents.html
I recommend starting with the 'SKYNET' article. Never before have I read such engaging Terminator material. T4: Salvation looks completely inanely retarded after having read these articles. - DanteDefiance, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6Also it was really odd that a "old" T-800 was sent back. Machines don't age! At least T4 had the 1984 take no prisoners T-800.
- Jones82, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6You guys have just been fredlestered
- Balanced, on 05/28/2009, -5/+11By this writer's logic I don't think Aliens would be considered an Alien movie.
Sometimes a series needs to change things up a bit to grow.
From the sound of it this attempt failed.
Maybe some big-market failures like this will convince the filmmakers to try some newer stuff instead of sequels, reboots, and movies based on old cartoons. - inkubusfan, on 05/28/2009, -1/+7Salvation is to 'Terminator' movies
as
E.T. is to 'Alien' movies - chaos7, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6digg users hyped the hell out of it before it came out. they also overhype christian bale and jj abrams.
- whiledo, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6Well, if you absolutely want a fanpology, how's this: The T-800 were older and therefore simpler models. The resistance figured out how to reprogram these but not the more advanced models. Therefore, their only real option is to keep sending back T-800s.
Or maybe I misread Dante's question. It was explained in some deleted scene or easter egg or somewhere that the T2 terminator is a T-800 and the T3 one is a T-850, with the difference being a slightly different skin. It makes a sort of sense, as long as you're in a fictional universe to begin with. - regicide, on 05/28/2009, -2/+8It's a rental
- falstaff, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5And they call you guys....the aristocrats!
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5eraser34
Well i saw the movie and yeah, that pretty much sums it up. He could have had a small bit in there about the one skynet facility blowing up, but mostly it's good. - zoan, on 05/28/2009, -1/+6No way. T1 was the best. It was just consistent all the way around. The time loop made sense.
All the sequels could have remained consistent with the first Terminator. But they had to "patch" the original so they could regurgitate the same basic plot a couple more times in T2 and T3.
T4 had such potential. Oh well! What do I know? - mttyd, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5Probably to look more like humans in order to make newbs run to them and get shot (which happened in the film)... Just shows terminators even the primitive ones were trying to blend in and trick humans.
- fancywares319, on 05/28/2009, -1/+6then ur momma got scared and said ur movin with ur uncle and auntie in bel air
- ZimbuTheMonkey, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5Yup.
One of the small things you had to ignore to enjoy Terminator, I think. If Judgment Day is prevented, John Connor should not exist assuming a single timeline. - richbleak, on 05/29/2009, -0/+5God forbid every Terminator movie doesn't use the exact same formula. The movie was good and it was well placed in the Terminator universe. This critique is essentially saying this movie doesn't fit in the series because it isn't the same exact story with the slight adjustment of all the character's ages. I welcomed a look at this universe that didn't involve some unkillable zombie shuffling after almost helpless lead characters.
