- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -9/+43As soon as someone is popular you get the love or hate bandwagon.
I mean the guy just directed transformers it a ***** movie based on a toy line, the hell did people expect? And i dont know if people remember but the 80's cartoon that we all loved and grew up with wasnt stellar writing either. - jeff419, on 07/01/2009, -5/+36never been a big fan of his movies but mad props for getting that $$$
- dylbrwn2, on 07/02/2009, -0/+25I can't sing better than Paris Hilton either, but that doesn't mean she's good.
- CaptObvious, on 07/02/2009, -3/+27I miss you more then Michael Bay missed the mark
When he made Pearl Harbor
I miss you more than that movie missed the point
And that’s an awful lot girl
And now, now you’ve gone away
And all I’m trying to say is
Pearl Harbor sucked, and I miss you
I need u like Ben Affleck needs acting school
He was terrible in that film
I need u like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part
He’s way better than Ben Affleck
And now all I can think about is your smile
and that ***** movie too
Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you
Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?
I guess Pearl Harbor sucked
Just a little bit more than I miss you
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pM8PrqY5Rg - adorkable81, on 07/02/2009, -4/+25Uhmmm, Michael Bay is a director, not a screen writer... the corny dialog and romantic plot was there because the screenwriter wrote it.
- nard3456, on 07/02/2009, -2/+20You can talk ***** about Bay all you want, but you know he's laughing all the way to the bank.
- mmembrino, on 07/02/2009, -0/+17His problem is he numbs you with constant loud robots-flying-through-walls and whatnot. If he spaced them out a bit, you'd be like whoa that's badass! every time it happened. It's like being in a room that smells bad, eventually you get used to the smell, but if you leave and come back, every time you enter the room you're like damn, that smells bad.
What a poor analogy. - inactive, on 07/01/2009, -10/+27"Michael Bay is good at action, there’s no denying that."
Yes there is.
John McTiernan is good at action movies. Take a hike blog boy. - cmister, on 07/02/2009, -2/+17Sorry, you are all wrong. Michael Bay Finally Made An Art Movie:
http://io9.com/5301898/michael-bay-finally-made-an ...
Probably the best movie review ever written. - RafishAsh, on 07/02/2009, -0/+14 The film was written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the two dudes who among other things also wrote star trek. The reason why star trek wasn't an absolute mess was because they only got to turn in a small summary to Bay before the writers strike hit. Bay then took that small summary, stretched it out for a two and a half hour long movie and added in stupid ***** like the racist twins. That's at least how the writers say it went it down, they might just be covering their asses.
- ricemonster, on 07/02/2009, -2/+16Dugg for truth.
- jmdwinter, on 07/02/2009, -7/+21WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? CITIZEN KANE? I WANT TEH BOOBS AND SPLOSIONS!! BOOOOOBS AND SPLOOOOOSSIOOOONS!!!!
/s - RafishAsh, on 07/02/2009, -1/+10Hey I can't cook so when I eat a meal that's utter ***** I just keep my comments to myself because really Its not like I could do any better.
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -2/+10If they combined all that marketing and filming budget, with an actual quality movie with good word of mouth, they could seriously make a whole lot more. (As an example think the iron man)
- markusfarkus, on 07/01/2009, -3/+11Amen
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -2/+10Not when you consider that every one of his movies have the same stupid scenes and dialogs, over and over again. It's practically his signature.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -1/+8Listen *****, McDonalds is probably the most profitable chain of 'restaurants' in the world. Does that mean the food is good?
You need to learn that people in general have awful taste, especially Americans. Mind you it sounds like you also have terrible taste, so you probably think they all have great taste. - fuzmaster, on 07/02/2009, -1/+8i just turned off my mind when seeing transformers 2, you'll enjoy it more
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -6/+13Michael Bay seems like such a waste of good special effects.
- Spacejack, on 07/02/2009, -1/+7"Transformers 2 just broke a ton of movie records... so apparently a lot of people enjoyed it."
I guess they went to that new kind of movie theater where you buy your ticket after you decide you enjoyed the movie. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6That is utter nonsense, and you are an idiot for writing it.
- Ajajadude, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6I've been rewatching the seasons I have on DVD, and I have to agree with you there.
- Crass22, on 07/02/2009, -1/+6Lets see you make a movie that can make 200 mil in 5 days.
Dont get me wrong, I hate his films, but you cant deny that success. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5he doesn't suck THAT bad
- dafragsta, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5I do enjoy some of Michael Bay's movies, but as time wears on, I can tell that his sense of narrative was probably forced on him to begin with and now that he's successful and getting more freedom, I think I can really see that breaking down. His stories have long since been an afterthought, preferring one-liners to fill the time between action sequences, but it's just getting worse. His movies aren't even enjoyable on the same level as movies like Bad Boys or The Rock.
- tr909, on 07/02/2009, -2/+6I think saying you hate Michael Bay is like the dudes that boast they don't watch TV. It's a hollow statement to make themselves feel more cultured. I'm not saying you have to like him, but there are the majority of directors that are making piss onscreen, but no one scores points by declaring they don't like them as much as Bay.
- sexyloser, on 07/02/2009, -2/+6Michael bay shouldn't be making movies period.
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5Plenty of good movies made with stupid premises and source material.
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4I can't help but to go see the latest special effects at the cinemas. Props to the sfx department.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5Blog Dude-
Make a 400 million dollar grossing movie and then I'll listen to your griping.
Otherwise it just sounds like you WISH that you were Michael Bay. - whispered, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4The movie was released and made well over $400 million dollars in the first couple of days. Chances are there will be another Transformers because of the huge success. We get it. Critics don't like it. But a lot of those that were part of the $400 million did. Writing articles like how Bay shouldn't be "expanding" begs the question, "so what?" If I had someone that could make me several million dollars in a couple of days, I say let him do his thing!
- adorkable81, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5Why would you watch all Michael Bay's movie then?
- kfxrcer1, on 07/02/2009, -2/+5That means its ok to be a piece of *****? Pirates was based off an amusement park ride and was better than this. I don't hate Michael Bay and actually kinda liked the first Transformers but Revenge of the Fallen is his worst work.
- SoulGrub, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3I agree his action scenes aren't particularly enjoyable to watch. They could do a lot better with all that money.
- zachstanley, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3You're very clever, has anyone ever told you that?
- verynegative, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Exactly. Having a big budget to waste on loads of expensive CGI and ***** all that art together with such an empty dialog will never make a good action movie or even a scene. You spoilt it. you lose all momentum.
Michael Bay is NOT good at action. In fact, he shouldn't be making movies at all - JeffD, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Man, that review kind of makes me want to go see Transformers 2 now.
- econoar, on 07/02/2009, -2/+5http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/155700
- PixelMagic, on 07/02/2009, -1/+4I'd rather be excessively rich. If someone people enjoy my work, that's just a bonus.
- Frozenfuryblade, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3Perhaps you misunderstood. You get the love OR hate bandwagon, as in only one of them.
- mlrigsby, on 07/02/2009, -7/+10"Michael Bay is good at action, there’s no denying that."
Sure there is. Sloppily cutting together scenes with random explosions and gratuitous use of slow motion is not good action. Michael Bay's action scenes are often a complete mess, and are about as fun as watching someone play a videogame. - halvertos, on 07/02/2009, -15/+18Michael Bay Shouldn't make movies.
- sanman, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Michael Bay is NOT good at action. Off the top of my head, I could think of many ways that the action could have been better in Transformers2. I thought it was pretty mediocre, actually. We didn't need to see just the Buckwheat twins taking on Devastator by themselves, we could have been treated to a bigger firefight involving more Autobots. We could have seen more kickass air battles, including Starscream more. We could have seen Dinobots for some solid action. We could have seen Soundwave launching Laserbeak, Rumble, etc.
There were plenty of ways the action could have been better. Instead, we were treated to seeing Shia and Megan running most of the time. Stupid. - Vindexus, on 07/02/2009, -3/+5I don't understand why people let Michael Bay get away with making retarded stuff because he has in the past. Just because I've ***** on your bed every week for the past month doesn't mean I should ***** on your bed tomorrow.
- pika2000, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2What's with the numerous articles about Michael Bay lately? TF2 is making enough money already. Enough publicity for this guy. Buried.
- stacigh, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Two words:
Zoom out. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2It's a great analogy seeing as all his films are stinkers.
- stacigh, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2I love how everyone is bitching about his less than mediocre directing skills and yet they all paid to see it anyway. At least I had an excuse. I was lured into watching it as part of a double feature just so I could watch Star Trek again. Now there's a good flick.
- seroevo, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Funny thing for me is most of the criticisms about Transformers 2 I felt about the Dark Knight, which everyone loves (too long, unnecessary characters and subplots, lots of laughable dialogue, etc).
Point being, I don't really know what people expect from these movies, though I'll generally agree with the article but go further, and say that ANY movie better have a very good reason for going beyond 2 hours. -
