- EpicSelekta, on 05/21/2008, -4/+29Fun fact: Christopher Walken was in the tryouts to be Han Solo. Once again, Harrison Ford to the rescue!
- stevens8204cw, on 05/21/2008, -9/+32Thank you Harrison Ford....thank you!! You are the one true Indy.
- MrM1yagi, on 05/21/2008, -12/+28I can see Arnold.

- mr5150, on 05/21/2008, -0/+8Bladerunner, The Jack Ryan series (Patriot Games and Clear & present danger and The Fugitive all kicked ass, so STFU *****.
Like every actor he has films that sucked but who cares Indy is back! - spyd3rweb, on 05/21/2008, -5/+12Nathan Fillion
- RedShirtNumber2, on 05/21/2008, -3/+7Christopher Walken as Indiana Jones: Snakes..Ehhhh..Geesh. Snakes. It had to be Snakes. I'd love to have a wife, a nice little house, a couple of kids, a dog, maybe a bit of singing, and no guns and no killing, but no I get Snakes instead. Why did it have to be Snakes?
- counterplex, on 05/21/2008, -0/+3My name is Indiana Jones. I'm an ARCHAEOLOGIST YOU IDIOT! I'm going to ask you a few questions... Who is your daddy and what does he do?
- Louis11, on 05/21/2008, -2/+4Of all the actors to be complaining about . . . you choose the one that gave us both Indiana Jones and Han Solo?
- falstaff, on 05/21/2008, -1/+3Don't............get too cocky......kid. Needs more cowbell.
- Louis11, on 05/21/2008, -1/+3Everything is always political . . . when it's politics we are talking about, fine, but when it's a movie article . . . shut up.
- Drahkir, on 05/21/2008, -2/+4You think the new Indy will tank? It could be 90 minutes of Harrison Ford complaining about arthritis while doing the crossword and everyone and their grandmother will STILL see it twice this summer. As long as he's dressed as Indy during said activities, of course.
- CrimsonBlur, on 05/21/2008, -7/+9In retrospect, Harrison Ford is probably the perfect actor to play Indiana Jones. Selleck would have worked and played the role well, but I think Ford's natural ability to play a character like Indy is much stronger and cemented the character's iconic status (just like Ford did with Han Solo).
These fluke casting replacements happen all the time. Harrison Ford is an example of not being the first choice but ultimately proving to be the right one. There isn't really any reason to ponder who else could have been in the role beyond pointing out why we're lucky it turned out to be Harrison Ford. - shauncorleone, on 05/21/2008, -0/+15 years ago, Josh Holloway. But he'll be 39 this year.
- petebot, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1There's a new Indiana Jones movie? Good god, I hope Shia LaBoeueieuoief is in it!
- Evildudetx, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1He would have only been 20 when Raiders was made - definately not old enough......
- coldfusion1970, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1Man. I loved Short Round in 'Doom and Goonies.
- diggydougie, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1But after the first movie or two He could have cast younger better actors for the part. Just look at all the different batman actors.
- warlokaz2004, on 05/21/2008, -3/+4I avtually think Tom Selleck would have done a good job as Indy -- he was ok enough in "High Road to China." -- I also thought (being a teenage comic book fan in the 80's) he'd have made a good Tony Stark (back then).
- EpicSelekta, on 05/22/2008, -0/+1Worse yet, recall that Han was a smuggler... then think about Christopher Walken in Pulp Fiction.
- cloud4197, on 05/21/2008, -4/+5Yeah, thank got they picked Harrison, but then they went and ruined it all buy casting Shia LeBeouf. What a d*ck.
- petebot, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1Maatt Da-mon
- n8f8, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1WAY off the mark with Selleck. His Jesse Stone movies may be made for TV but they are highly rated and a lot better than a lot of the dreck at the theaters. He would make an awesome Indy.
- yacks, on 05/21/2008, -1/+2Armour of God(2) was a pretty good movie..
- mastazed, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1personally i didnt agree with that list, i dont think anyone but Ford could have played Indy. The Terminator would have been a good laugh but i would never recommend it, Douglas is too much of a pussy to compete with Ford.
- dslartoo, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1I actually quite liked the screen test Selleck did for the role (which appeared somewhere in the extras in the 4-disc boxset that came out a few years back). I think he would have made a fine Indy as well, but I'm still glad Ford got the role of course. There is only one Indiana Jones, and Harrison Ford is he. :)
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -3/+4Richard Chamberlain ... Allan Quatermain
ANYONE ? The Lost City of Gol dwas AWSOME back in the day ! as was King Solomon's Mines! - inactive, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1Technically you're right. I think Lucas met him when he was roofing his mansion or something. He ended up being an actor by accident, he never aspired to it. But that realness that he still has, that's something audiences identify with. Ford is someone we could all have a beer with, someone that would pull over and help an old man change a tire on the side of the highway.
- coldfusion1970, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1But JC is the authors choice. He was never considered for the role.
- Bloodwine, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1I agree with those who say that Nathan Fillion could possible fill those shoes. He has a similar brand of humor.
Another choice would be Joe Flanigan from Stargate Atlantis. - petebot, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1Hayden Christiansen.
- Mootabolife, on 05/21/2008, -1/+2IDK.. Douglas could have been good too.
- Huangism, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1the answer is simple... no one
- cdigioia, on 05/21/2008, -3/+3You know it's really hard to say - now we can't picture Selleck because of the Indiana Jones we've all seen & loved was Harrison Ford.
Of course Tom Selleck would play the character differently (which to us would look wrong due to what we've already seen). If Harrison Ford had never been Indiana Jones in the first place, maybe Selleck would have been just as great in a different way.
For the record the little kid in me says ***** no that's *****, But maybe... - Evildudetx, on 05/21/2008, -1/+1Kurt Russell probably could have pulled it off - after making the jab about Big Trouble in Little China, he would easily have worked out. Tell me you can't see a Jack Burton-esk guy running around in the jungles shooting at *****?
- dhuffman1223, on 05/21/2008, -0/+0matt damon
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -8/+8Selleck would have been awesome too.
- RedShirtNumber2, on 05/22/2008, -0/+0Samuel L. Jackson as Indiana Jones: Nazis! I hate those MUTHAF***AS! Normally, your Nazi asses would be dead as f***ing fried chicken, but you happen to pull this sh** while I'm in a transitional period so I don't wanna kill you, I wanna help you. But I can't give you this Ark, it don't belong to me. Besides, I've already been through too much sh** this morning over this Ark to hand it over to your dumb asses.
- stiriaz, on 05/21/2008, -0/+0Treat Williams would have been a good Indiana Jones 5-10 years ago. He'd probably still be good as Indy.
http://www.stiriaz.com/eveniment/interes-public/no ... - zaldoe, on 05/21/2008, -2/+2lol Arnold
- Charlotte_Web, on 05/21/2008, -1/+1I don't think there was ever any question that the role was going to Harrison Ford. He had an established relationship with Lucas at that point.
- MikeonTV, on 05/21/2008, -1/+1Wasn't Jackie Chan in the first one? Kept screaming "Hey Indy, Hey Indy"
- yujie, on 05/21/2008, -2/+2What about Samuel Jackson?
- ziffel, on 05/21/2008, -2/+2Danny DeVito FTW
- arcooke, on 05/21/2008, -3/+2I got to go see a preview screening of the new Indiana Jones movie tonight and it was actually really good. A little bit "out there" compared to the others, but it fit well. My biggest complaints: a lot of completely ridiculous scenes and way too much CGI. There was one scene that may as well have come straight out of a Hanna Barbera cartoon.. for those who have seen it, I'm talking about the car/cliff/tree scene. What the hell were they thinking?!
- fearofsociety, on 05/21/2008, -4/+3I'm not a fan of Shia either. I dugg you up.
- virtualball, on 05/21/2008, -2/+1I won't "click down," I'll *Digg* down!
ZING! - cryofan, on 05/21/2008, -1/+0how come I am the only person here who realizes that this digg thread is simply part of an advertising campaign for the new indiana jones movie and that digg is getting paid to boost this thread.
