- jingwei, on 01/05/2009, -1/+53Well frankly, a lot of the movies on that list were probably going to suck anyway.
- nigelmansell, on 01/06/2009, -0/+31dragonball remake is a joke.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -1/+21They still use writers? i thought they used apple automatic phrase completion.
- goleopards1, on 01/05/2009, -4/+20pushing the suck to the next year...how American!
- starf, on 01/06/2009, -0/+15"J.J. was describing a scene he was shooting the day before. Midway through it, he got a great idea for a new line. Which he couldn’t write. Couldn’t shoot. Couldn’t be in his movie."
A WGA member director can't add dialog on set even if he doesn't write it down and just tells the actors? That's pretty lame. - grammarpuss, on 01/06/2009, -0/+13I've been pretty sick over the G.I. Joe movie. Will it be as good as the animated series? Will it be as good as the amazingly complicated stories featuring G.I. Joe characters I enacted in the back yard? Probably not.
- spiderbaby138, on 01/06/2009, -1/+14Writers? They just recycle old ideas. If they were comic book professionals, they'd be tracers!
- feyded, on 01/06/2009, -2/+13I believe they were still shooting Quantum of Solace during the writers strike, and it showed. It felt like a bunch of action scenes tied together with a weak narrative thread.
- 0xbaadf00d, on 01/06/2009, -0/+10Unions are great, huh?
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+9that's not dragonball...
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+9A joke that breaks my heart : (
- DrumDog2112, on 01/06/2009, -0/+8Most screenplays for '08 films were written years ago. The only effect the Writer's Strike had on these films was the inability for a director to have a writer on the set during any point of the production process.
- mysticalone, on 01/06/2009, -1/+8I understand that Dragonball is the writer's POV, but it's like that one person in the audience that you got to explain the jokes to him and it kills the joke and then he tries to tell the joke later and you feel like sticking a gun in your mouth because you thought the joke couldn't be any more ruined.
Heres a relevant example. Superman movies and Smallville the television show. Smallville can sometimes be okay to watch but other times seeing Clark unable to fly pisses me off and turns me bulky and green.
/ps Dugg for freakazoid! - elliotys, on 01/06/2009, -0/+7Im a huge DBZ fan and I got to say that so far the movie looks like *****. Piccollo looks like an albino pussy.
- GenghisRon, on 01/06/2009, -1/+8lets face it, people won't be seeing the majority of these movies for the script anyway
- drachemorder, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5Does anyone REALLY think J. J. wouldn't just sneak that line in anyway, if it was that good? Heck, I certainly would. He's probably just trying to score brownie points with the union by saying that.
- yacks, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4I think Gi Joe calls for a stop motion movie made with those action figures
- DrumDog2112, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Yeah, I'm not all for Unions, either, but if the WGA weren't involved, the writers would be making a third of what they're pulling-in now -- which isn't exactly bank.
- manzoire, on 01/06/2009, -2/+5I really wish we got those 2 or 3 lost episodes. Season felt a little too short (even though it was still completely awesome).
- SEOtonie, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Ah, damn writers. I do not really care about the movies listed in the article but more about the delayed TV-Shows
- Fanboy1, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1This really didn't say much, other than all these scripts were rushed and they could be bad. No disaster stories, yet . . .
- Abdax, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1Really? To me it felt like there was a lot of good plot in QOS, it was just poorly directed so you couldn't tell what was happening.
- 0xbaadf00d, on 01/06/2009, -3/+4Man, the 4th season of Lost was the best season of any TV show ever.
- RobotBuddha, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Land of the lost....actually sounds kind of ok. At least as a parody of the original show.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1inkers...
- yacks, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Actually, They use a room filled with 1,000 monkeys with typewriters.. They got mad because they weren't getting enough bananas.
- timothycrash01, on 01/06/2009, -1/+2Meh. Since were making 'best season of any TV show ever" claims....
Any season of The Wire pretty much puts the entire Lost series to shame. - shandromand, on 01/06/2009, -1/+2Buried for not reading the article.
- yacks, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Calm down Hulk.
- MRintheKeys, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1I think I could have eaten the originals series animation sales and crapped out a better movie than what these ass-tards are doing
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1They're adding those episodes to season 5.
- bjs3171, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1I read the article. Anyone know what movie that thumbnail is from?
I'd guess GI Joe or Wolverine... - Kidddrunkadelic, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1I think one of the writers said they finished the script right before the deadline for the strike.
QoS felt like something suited for T.V. - bjs3171, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1I know. It'll be difficult to top the sparkling dialogue, and complex characterization of that saturday morning cartoon, but I'll give it a chance.
- ansatsu29, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Agreed.
- shandromand, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1You mean like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc7ZlQfJY7g
- Scaramanga7, on 01/06/2009, -0/+0They did GI Joe without Larry Hama - that pretty much tells us trouble ahead.
- Jeremyz0r, on 01/06/2009, -1/+1http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j194/thesweetest ...
The one time he doesn't look like an albino, someone calls him one. WTF? - Spartandog, on 01/06/2009, -0/+0Strange how this article mentions films that got made despite the writer's strike rather than films that got shelved because of it. At least 12 major features were put on hold indefinitely when the strike happened, as producers decided to go with films already in the pipeline.
- trdrstv, on 01/06/2009, -0/+0and if an actor just improved a line, is that legit? (as long as it isn't written down)
- daviz0, on 01/07/2009, -0/+0the wire is pretty low on my list
- daviz0, on 01/07/2009, -0/+0you suck
- ace429k, on 01/06/2009, -3/+2dragon ball looks iffy. i'll prolly see it still.
- kiwimonk, on 01/06/2009, -2/+1Valkyrie.. It should have ended differently.
- DecoyOfHam, on 01/06/2009, -2/+1Meh... Im sorry Lost season 4 left me feeling even more lost....
- onux16, on 01/06/2009, -2/+1*yawn* I really don't know why I read that article. For those who haven't read it yet: major studios either had finished scripts before the strike and looked into altering it some time later, especially from scripts being rushed; or a particular cast member couldn't add or edit anything because he was prohibited by the strike.
Oh yeah, apparently the Dragonball movie was SAVED by the strike. Go figure... - h4mx0r, on 01/06/2009, -2/+1Does anyone know what movie that thumbnail is from? I'm really intrigued.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -3/+1They should have hired some Digg users that know their stuff when it comes to back stories and comic book characters to write some stuff.
Heck, I'd help assist in writing a script for free, as long as I got credit or something though. I'm still holding out for Terminator Salvation, I hope its awesome. I have hope. - sweet4545, on 01/06/2009, -2/+0Steven Segal did not feel a tiny fraction of a difference!
- GarciaM89, on 01/06/2009, -4/+1did anyone else see the happening...?
