- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+103A rather confident 007 walks into a bar and takes a seat next to a very attractive woman. He gives her a quick glance, then casually looks at his watch for a moment.
The woman notices this and asks,
"Is your date running late?"
"No", he replies, "I am here alone. Q has just given me this state-of-the-art watch and I was just testing it."
The intrigued woman says, "A state-of-the-art watch? What's so special about it?"
"It uses alpha waves to telepathically talk to me," he explains.
"What's it telling you now?"
"Well, it says you're not wearing any panties..."
The woman giggles and replies, "Well it must be broken because I am wearing panties!"
007 taps, taps his watch and says "Damn thing must be an hour fast" - nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -4/+55Hydrogen. Hydrogen-Oxygen is the best bond.
- omgitscolin, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30Sean Connery was the most badass, and Roger Moore was the classiest and definitely the best dressed. Pierce Brosnan was the funniest, and in my opinion the best all-around. George Lazenby was so bad, he doesn't even count.
- The5thHorseman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Dalton (didn't get a fair chance)
Connery (classic)
Brosnan (Very pop, revived the brand) - PhillyMJS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12@nreynolds:
Connery's best line in any movie was in The Rock: "Losers whine about their best, winners go home and ***** the prom queen!"
And he was the best Bond, as well, though he was great as Indy's dad. And who else could play a Russian sub captain while speaking with a Scottish accent, and pull it off? - aahpandasrun, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17I vote Pierce Brosnan. Everything else was before my time :P
- thegsa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Connery FTW!
- siodine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Anyone that has seen Layer Cake will know how badass the next bond is going to be.
- TheG2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Easily one of the most under-rated movies ever.
- Nerevar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8You guys are both really missing out. I'm only 19 but I've seen a lot of the older ones, and they are great. Goldeneye was really the only great Brosnan bond film, with Tomorrow Never Dies being pretty decent. The most recent of his have sucked donkey balls.
Connery was probably the best, but I'll give Brosnan second as he is hardly to blame for most of his movies being terrible.
As for the oldies Goldfinger is probably my favorite. - Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I like how Timothy Dalton's Bond was conflicted. He brought some additional depth to the role. The first Bond I saw was Roger Moore, though, and I grew up watching his version. Pierce Brosnan revived Bond, but to what end? It became one long commercial for BMW and other product placements. They also ran out of original Fleming stories.
I thought Connery was very charming, but I think he stayed on for too long. In the end, Moore's Bond is my favorite, particularly For Your Eyes Only. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10James Bond jumped the shark when his car became invisible. Here's hoping they pull it out of the gutter.
- CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I really liked Timothy Dalton.... he tried to make Bond grittier after the camp Roger Moore incarnation.
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I liked Sean Connery. He was a no-nonsense Bond. All of the newer Bonds might try to sneak around, unnoticed by guards. Not Connery. He'd just snap the guard's neck and and move on.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Independence day made $816,969,255 and it still sucks. Success at the box office =/= a good movie.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Anyone else ever think how awesome it would be if Brosnan and the Bond gang re-did some of the older Fleming scripts?
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Oh and not to continue the sockpuppet parade of boredom but some cool cat posted all of the James Bond intros, they're fun to watch.
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=james+bond+intros - begbegbegbegbeg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Sean Connery IS James Bond. All the others are Jimmy Bond.
- TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I grew up with Pierce Brosnan by the time I was old enough to get into Bond, so he's kind of been my idea of Bond. I'm willing to give the new guy a chance. In my oppinion Casino Royale looks like it could be a great movie. They're striping it of all the technology and letting Bond be Bond. The last few movies, while good were getting a little overdone with all the fancy implausible gadgets.
- Neploxo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+52026, Daniel Radcliffe. I called it.
- micro506, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I would have to go with Connery-Dalton-Brosnan-Moore-Lazenby (best to worst).
- nene7070, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i have to agree with this.... although Connery wasn't bad....
- anjinash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm surprised (and pleased) that Dalton is getting some love here. Connery is the popular choice, but I think Dalton deserved more than he got. His Bond was darker, more conflicted and truer to the original Ian Fleming books. Dalton gets my vote.
- tito13kfm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Sean Connery.... I'm a straight male and even i'd sleep with him.
- BassCadet, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I think it is more fun to debate the best Bond movie (Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, You Only Live Twice?) rather than the best James Bond. All Bond's (except Lazenby, he was not an actor but a male model) were great in their own way and each of those guys defined the legend. Timothy Dalton shouldn't be forgotten, he did a great job as a serious Bond and is easily the best actor of the bunch.
- w6bi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3In the books, James Bond had a bit of a streak of cruelty in him. To that end, Sean Connery probably was most true to the books.
- overaction, on 07/14/2009, -3/+6"You know Logel Moore?"
"Who? I'm sorry"
"Dobo-O-Seven!"
"Oh, Roger Moore?"
"Yes, Logel Moore"
"What about Sean Connery?"
"No, Logel Moore!"
(Lost in Translation) - moisie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think Dalton was let down by his films but as Bond I think he felt more realistic. Lazenby was by no means great but I feel he was let down by the film to a certain extent, plus he was only in 1 and I'f rather watch his bond than the last couple of Brosnan's or the worst of Moore's.
- buddylee415, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, finally someone who gives Timothy the credit he deserves. He was an 80's Bond. His movies could have been better in the 90's or maybe earlier.
Anyone ever notice that Benicio Del Toro was in License To Kill? - dslartoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Connery gets the top nod for his combination of class with a slight touch of arrogance and pure danger. There was a hint of unpredictability to the way he played the character, as if you could never tell quite what he was going to do next. He also was best at portraying Bond's way with the women.
Pierce Brosnan is next for his ultra-urbane, ultra-cool, ultra-debonair portrayal.
Timothy Dalton next for his ice-cold and somewhat brutal demeanor. Interestingly, the way he played the character is probably the closest to the way he was originally written by Fleming. Reports are that Daniel Craig is taking it in that direction, too, though.
Roger Moore -- I never saw why people liked him so much. I just didn't particularly care for the way he portrayed Bond, so he's at the bottom of my list.
Lazenby I can't comment on as I haven't seen "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". - MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Head Connery, Tails Brosnan.
Came up heads. - 3vno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sean Connery
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nothing wrong with wierd ears and a receding hairline.....
Farrell couldn't pull off the relaxed charm of bond. Clive might have managed it, but not sure. Connery best so far, holding out hope for Craig, though
as for Dylan McDermott... WTF??? No way, no way, no way. Never. - Mitijea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You left out the best one... David Niven. :)
- mikeyj10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Listen Connery's performance in Dr. No sealed the deal.
Also George Lazenby, while not a great Bond, was in a really good Bond film. - cazoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i, being a child of the 70's, am a huge roger moore/bond fan. there i said it. its not a popular thing to admit but i feel free finally having gotten that off my chest.
- buddylee415, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm going to give Craig a chance. I read Casino Royale this summer and I'm looking forward to the film version. I'm not so big on the idea of the ending changing though. I hope they change it for the better.
With this film, we will learn why Bond is who he is, why he drinks a Vodka Martini, and treats women like he does. - spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Answer is pretty much always going to be whoever was Bond when you first started watching the series
I've got a feeling I'm really going to like the new one and the direction they're taking it in - Lostcosmos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4C=C
/carbon-carbon double bond
/sorry had to. - djpm05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2not in my case. I grew up with brosnan, but I still say it connery is the best followed by moore, then brosnan. I hated dalton.
- rappatappa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sean Connery is Bond, everyone else just plays Bond.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4> Which Bond is the Best Bond?
1.) Exactly what is the point in asking this question before anyone's seen Daniel Craig as the new James Bond ? Are you stupid or something?
2.) Every professional review I've seen (several) based on early press showings of the film says that Craig is the only actor to have played Bond as Ian Fleming intended the character, and b.) is probably better than Sean Connery. Based on the many brief clips I've seen, I'd agree with this so far.
To all you Craig doubters - don't you look fools now? - lilrabbit129, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've always wanted to see a cameo of one of the previous bonds in the movie. Or similar to Connery as Indy's dad, a master-apprentice type thing.
- rmayo87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sean Connery. hands down. not that the others were bad, persay. but he's the best to me.
- Valnar300, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Definitely from best-to-worst: Connery, Moore, Brosnan
I haven't seen the other actors. Connery to me is the "classic" Bond, Moore is the "best dressed/stylish", and Brosnan seem to just not fit in.... - MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ytmnd
- isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@swayarrow
Wow I can't believe how horrible you write. - Cornea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bob Holness the original and still the best Bond.
- b0b0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Connery really defined the character, so it is doubtful that any other actor will really be able to match him. Bond is supposed to be the best undercover intelligence agent/assassin that the British government supposedly has who is routinely sent on very violent assignments during the Cold War, and Connery's performance fits this defining characteristic to a tee. Bond's blunt sense of humor is only supposed to euphemise the brutal murders that he commits; that's why all of Bond's jokes are brief, sarcastic one-liners.
Roger Moore on the other-hand tried to turn James Bond into a combination of the Simon Templar/Lord Bret Sinclair characters that he had done on TV, and it just didn't work; Simon Templar was supposed to be a suave vigilante and Sinclair was a rich playboy. It really didn't fit the Bond role as he was primarily concerned with sexuality, innuendo, and lame jokes at the most inappropriate times possible. The mission means nothing to this Bond, as he seems to be too busy fooling around to accomplish anything. - Scopitone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It amazes me how many people write-off Lazenby without even having seen OHMSS.
