- OstrakonX, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3It's more than cool. I'm very, very relieved to see they're staying so faithful to the source.
- N01SE, on 07/18/2008, -3/+2Unless you were a huge comic book fan in the 80s or a comic book historian, you were probably like "what the ***** is Watchmen". I just hope it's not one and a half hours of people moving in slow motion.
- franklyzappa, on 07/18/2008, -1/+2The Dark Knight was cooler!
- directedition, on 07/18/2008, -3/+3... Dude, it's one of the most famous comic novels ever. If you've so much as dipped your pinky toe in the Marvel pond, you've at least heard of it.

- westover88, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2except for the fact that the comedian isn't wearing his mask and that they changed Rorschach's quote to make him look like he hates everyone not just corrupt "politicians" and "whores" which were who he was talking about in the novel.

- schmiggyjk, on 07/17/2008, -0/+12Pick up the Absolute Edition if you can find it. It is OOP right now, rumor is it will be back in stores in October. Remasted color (yes on a comic), extras, oversized, it is well worth the $60 I spent.
- fudged71, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1just got the original paperback today at coles for $22 CDN... and the color looks great
- 4everMoore, on 07/17/2008, -1/+7Yeah, me too.
- 4d669, on 07/18/2008, -2/+4You probably shouldn't, they'll destroy the ending (confirmed) and it'll piss you off. If you forget about the real story, you might enjoy it.
- boombye, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4Why would they talk about the ending of the movie before the movie comes out?
- tehknotte, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3lol confusing :S
- brainscab, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3Oh no, no giant squid attack on NYC?! It predicted 9/11 20 years before it happened...
- ConceptualTrap, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1The giant squid isnt' in it but the destruction of NYC has been assured.
- bosssmiley, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1How? We see Dr Manhattan subtracting Rorschash's intrinsic field right there in the trailer. That implies the whole "Dan, I'm not a Republic serial villain..." and "No compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddom!" thing has already come to pass.
edit: also *SQUEEEEE!!!*
- brainscab, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6Yeah they nails some of the most important panels of the book panel to frame... like the part where veidt nails the "assassin"
- schmiggyjk, on 07/17/2008, -0/+12Pick up the Absolute Edition if you can find it. It is OOP right now, rumor is it will be back in stores in October. Remasted color (yes on a comic), extras, oversized, it is well worth the $60 I spent.
- AshamedAmerican, on 07/17/2008, -4/+193Dear god they might actually just pull this off, looks beautiful. You can see a lot of the flashbacks that I thought they would dump (manhattan's origin, vietnam war).
Btw, anyone know that song playing?- thomsamuels, on 07/17/2008, -5/+8I'm not sure but I think it's Billy Corgan. Have no idea of the song though...
- toekneebullard, on 07/17/2008, -0/+137It's The Smashing Pumpkins, The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning.
Heh, and it's originally from the Batman and Robin Soundtrack. DC Universe includes song licensing I guess.- AshamedAmerican, on 07/17/2008, -0/+8Thank you, sir!
- chaos7, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3haven't heard that song in a while
- alpharaptor, on 07/17/2008, -2/+11the end is the beginning is the end gives me flashbacks of bat-nipples
- JustinPM, on 07/17/2008, -1/+5That's not the original version of that song however, it's a different mix.
- shport, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8I believe it is the original version, not be confused with The End Is The Beginning Is The End, which is a different take on the same song (faster and "poppier"), or The Ethers Tragic, which is an instrumental variation of the same song.
Good to see the Pumpkins getting lots of play in new movies with new and old tunes. - McShr3dd3r, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4I have the Batman and Robin SDTK on my PC ( i ripped it from my GF years ago I swear) and there are two versions:
the end is the beginning is the end (fast version)
the beginning of the end is the beginning (slow version) - Sabretou, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1The tune is almost exactly similar to "Stand to Fall" by Pentagram (a Turkish metal band, titled Mezarkabul in the US)
- funkypenquin, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2almost exactly similar......um....thats gonna be my new catch-phrase. Thank you sir. I dont wish I were you but I wish to be almost exactly similar to you.
- TymonBrown, on 07/17/2008, -2/+32it's a freakin brilliant song. gave me chills mixed with the imagery.
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -0/+12The man responsible for it being in the trailer needs to be named so I can praise him. Aside from being an awesome song, it's the much lesser known alternate switcheroo compared to the hard rock one most people remember (as with the video).
Perfect trailer. - Sabretou, on 07/18/2008, -0/+10It's the most perfect song-trailer combo I've ever seen. Reznor on 300's might come close. Agreed with NenDaiKi, perfect trailer!
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -0/+12The man responsible for it being in the trailer needs to be named so I can praise him. Aside from being an awesome song, it's the much lesser known alternate switcheroo compared to the hard rock one most people remember (as with the video).
- FrankFutter, on 07/17/2008, -2/+6I was rather worried they'd mess it up, but I think you're right. they just might pull it off.
- DelayedEraser, on 07/18/2008, -0/+7I'd love it if they pulled it off, but I have my doubts... Alan Moore told them to take his name off it, and indeed there is no mention of him on the official website, even though it talks about DC and Dave Gibbons. But you're right, all those flashback scenes were encouraging.
- Nateon, on 07/18/2008, -2/+13As great as Alan Moore is, he's a bit of a douche and I bet he would have said the same thing to any director.
- apothekari, on 07/18/2008, -3/+7@Nateon
He's a douche about the movies because even though these hollywood jackholes have totally raped most translations of his work and basically kept only the title, HE'S been sued and almost lost his house and the stress pretty much broke up his marriage/relationship.
He is a misunderstood genius, magus and philosopher and perhaps prophet.
Read his works and listen to his spoken word albums and open your mind.
"Look upon my works Ye mighty and despair"-Shelley - MaxwellEugene, on 07/18/2008, -0/+7I don't know the man, so I won't comment on his character. But according to an interview in Wizard Magazine I read a while back he wasn't happy at all with the motion picture adaptations of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and From Hell, so in subsequent movies (V For Vendetta, Watchmen) he has asked that the illustrator of the source material be granted full credit (and profits, if I'm not mistaken) from the adaptation.
- kitsua, on 07/18/2008, -0/+13Alan Moore refuses to have his name associated with any film adaptations of his work, regardless of who's doing it.
He insists that his name never appear in conjunction with the film's marketing and that the fees and profits go to the artists that worked on the original. From the evidence of every novel of his that has been butchered for the big screen, I reckon he made a sound artistic decision (and he is a man notorious for his artistic integrity).
Snyder has said that his greatest hope is to make a film that Alan "doesn't hate".
From the looks of it, he might be on the way. - arjie, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1@apothekari:
If you read 'Ozymandias' completely, you'd see the context of that quote. The real point follows with, "...Nothing beside remains, round the decay / Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare..." - cheddarhead92, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Alan Moore pulled his name off V for Vendetta. and it was amazing.
- larthallor, on 07/18/2008, -2/+5According to Shazam, it is "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning (Explicit)" from The Smashing Pumpkins. The iPhone app is awesome. It's kind of creepy how well it works.
- Smurf42, on 07/18/2008, -5/+1that is the right song, but i cant find it ANYWHERE, i only find 'the end is the beginning is the end' which is apparently the song in which was remixed to make 'the beginning is the end is the beginning'
- fusionFactor, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6It's not remixed. There are two versions and they're both on the Batman and Robin Soundtrack.
- raisedinhell, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6http://ka0s.com/beginning-end.mp3
don't download it for 7 minutes, im uploading now - raisedinhell, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2ok its up now, enjoy
- AWBoy666, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1Woah......an actual MP3 link on a webserver somewhere of a copywritten work?
AWESOME!!!!
- brainscab, on 07/18/2008, -1/+5 Dave Gibbons drew the whole comic without any sound effects, just dialog. I think the music made the whole trailer melodramatic in a way that the original creators tried to avoid.
- Pobotrol, on 07/18/2008, -1/+5Agreed, pop music just cheapened it. At first I hoped it might be Pale Horse! There were pop music quotes at the end of some of the chapters, maybe All Along The Watchtower, or something a bit Devo would have been more appropriate!
Still this is only an advert for the film, and it doesn't necessarily reflect the musical content of the film - kitsua, on 07/18/2008, -0/+10Well, get prepared for disappointment because I guarantee you that there will be sound effects in this movie. Music too.
Honestly, this isn't a graphic novel, it's a film - there are going to have to be _some_ concessions to adapting the original to a different medium. That's a given. Hopefully, they'll get the balance just right. It's not exactly the easiest material to convert to cinema.

- ChestonX, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1Thank You
- bonk2k, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1I think they'll pull this one off just fine. What I'm worried about is if they'll be able to pull off Watchmen Babies in 2010.
- retrovertigo, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Nice trailer, but the song tainted my enjoyment a bit simply remembering that it was featured in the train wreck of a movie that was Batman & Robin.
- Vazel, on 07/18/2008, -1/+8YOU ***** KIDS. How can anyone not know that was the smashing pumpkins? ffs...
- Superman7507, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1haha, I can tell them just by the voice, even though i don't listen to them
- phetasy, on 07/17/2008, -38/+3Sounds like Reznor. That movie is going to be badass.
- greenroom628, on 07/17/2008, -0/+19smashing pumpkins. the beginning is the end is the beginning.
- SurlyDuff, on 07/18/2008, -3/+1lol phetasy, how could you not have heard that song before?
- lance4, on 07/17/2008, -12/+25soundtrack.net might. look under trailers for song playing.
Zack Snyder = possible new king of comicbook adaptation. He perfected 300 and when he nails this, the title is his.- malex, on 07/17/2008, -6/+23I hope you're right, but honestly, 300 was a huge disappointment for me. Visually stunning and all, but dumbed way, way down.
The Queen Gorgo from the book was far more interesting, and she only had 3 lines...- dukrous, on 07/17/2008, -6/+16But 300 was never supposed to be factual, it's supposed to be a glorification of the Spartans. This was obvious from Miller's comic. Your beef is with Frank Miller, not Zack Snyder.
- WafflesID, on 07/18/2008, -6/+3Yeah, because I'm sure people want to sit through 6 to 8 hour movie to cover every little detail in books/graphic novels.
- boombye, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3Actually Waffles, the graphic novel is a very short read. The scenes with the Queen and everything kind of ruined the story for me, he had more of an unspoken love with her, and there was no conspiracy in the book.
- Caleb83, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3First, I should mention that the entire Queen subplot was just thrown into the movie. Second, dukrous, Zack Snyder took enough creative liberties when making 300 that malex has the right to complain. How long has it been since you read the GN, duk? I promise you that you are remembering it wrong.
- Sabretou, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3What malex means is that the movie didn't catch all the sublimity of the comic and its gory scenes. To make up for it, they invented the whole Gorgo plotline which sucked. Since both Miller and Snyder worked on the movie, I'd say both are responsible.
- egamipeaks, on 07/17/2008, -10/+2300 was horrible. Every almost cool scene was then ruined by extremely hammy narration.
- boombye, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2You mean the same narration that was in the book?
- egamipeaks, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1Comic Books and Film are two different mediums. Taking something from one medium and simply duplicating it exactly to another is not very inspired. There were some nice film moments in 300 hundred where music and image really came together only to be killed by an overbearing narration telling us things we already knew, and were better left unsaid.
- awiesner, on 07/18/2008, -5/+9I would say its a tie between 300 and sin city it terms of comic book adaptations. I just hoping this isn't another V for Vendetta.
- KMartSheriff, on 07/18/2008, -2/+6V for Vendetta was awesome.
Then again, I never read the comic. But still, the movie was fantastic. - Orion682, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3V for Vendetta wasn't bad if you take it entirely separately from the source material. I LOVED the GN, to this day it's my favorite one (a little more than Watchmen), but the only way you can take the movie is by pretending it doesn't exist, in which case the movie is pretty decent.
- KMartSheriff, on 07/18/2008, -2/+6V for Vendetta was awesome.
- Unriggable, on 07/18/2008, -5/+4Watchmen is infinitely more layered than '300' - there is all kinds of character development unseen in '300', and honestly I don't think the maker of 'Dawn of the Dead' can pull this story off.
- AvronC, on 07/18/2008, -1/+3Have you even ***** watched the new dawn of the dead?
- ConceptualTrap, on 07/18/2008, -4/+2The new Dawn of the Dead was garbage compared to the original. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Snyder...just that one movie he did. 300 was great. But Dawn was a mediocre zombie movie and an awful horror film. But it's hard to top the original Romero trilogy, though Garland came pretty ***** close.
- gothsquirrel, on 07/18/2008, -1/+1The song is The Beginning is the End is the Beginning by the smashing pumpkins from the batman forever soundtrack. Not to be confused with The End is the Beginning is the End also by the smashing pumpkins from the same soundtrack. Also a good song recommend you get them both
- arjie, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1I love The Beginning..., are there any other Smashing Pumpkin songs like that?
- CrowquillZ, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1It's actually from the Batman and Robin soundtrack. I used to see the video for "The End is the Beginning is the End" looped every 2 hours while I worked at the Warner Bros Studio Store and had to promote that movie. The song was specifically written about Batman for the movie. "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning" (in the trailer) is the reprise on the soundtrack. It's not just a remix, it has different lyrics.
It fit the trailer well. I'm now even more stoked about this movie.
- malex, on 07/17/2008, -6/+23I hope you're right, but honestly, 300 was a huge disappointment for me. Visually stunning and all, but dumbed way, way down.
- GoMegaMan426, on 07/17/2008, -4/+53Wow, I'm impressed. It looks really good.
- Neiby, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4That does look cool, but as a non-reader of the comic book, I don't really get the story. I've read about it and it sounds like only one of these so-called super heroes actually has super powers. So, doesn't that basically make the rest of them normal people that wear costumes?
- otros, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8Yes, that's pretty much the point. (Well, it's prolly more accurate say that it's one of the points)
- ShadowMarth, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6It's called Badass Normal. Like Batman.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BadassN ... - bosssmiley, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3That's kinda the point. The heroes have to ask themselves what the point of masked avengers is in a world that contains Dr Manhattan...
- basye, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1Well you have a year to buy the book and read it, don't ya?
- dn11, on 07/18/2008, -3/+1"***** good" comes to mind. only thing i didn't like was Dr Manhattan looks a bit too Spartan.
- boombye, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3have you forgotten how cut he was?

- xDynaBlade, on 07/18/2008, -0/+9That was actually monologue.
- NinjaPirateDude, on 07/18/2008, -1/+12holy crap i just got why it's called monologue.
- TheBSG, on 07/19/2008, -0/+4The only issue I have is that the quote is wrong.
"The whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' And I'll look down, and whisper 'no.'"- Dquist, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1Thanks. I was just going to go look that up. It has been so long since I read it, but the quote seemed like it was missing something still... Anyway, well done.
- TheBSG, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1It was pointed out to me by a friend that it's a preview for "all audiences." It's likely that the film will have the original quote, and this was just a promo recording.
- xDynaBlade, on 07/18/2008, -0/+9That was actually monologue.
- thomsamuels, on 07/17/2008, -4/+16This looks kick ass. It looks like Synder's minding all the p's and q's of what makes this comic such a landmark. Glad to have a fan of comics making comic adaptations.

- toekneebullard, on 07/17/2008, -2/+13I'm surprised to see the Capes and Cowels being translated so literally, and not looking silly. VERY well done.
- HenryJonesJr, on 07/17/2008, -3/+3I agree. This is more proof that you can do a comic book movie and stay true to the original costumes. The black leather look in movies like X-MEN (and to a lesser extent Batman) has always bothered me. The typical excuse for it is that the original costumes would look cheesy. That's a bunch of crap. As if Spider-man and Superman weren't proof enough, both faithful and successful, now you have the Watchmen where the costumes are even more outlandish...and yet look awesome on-screen. Hopefully this will lead to movies being more faithful to the books.
- boombye, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Ozymandias isn't wearing the same costume, his has nipples on it, looks like one from Batman & Robin or something, but it works since the story is a parody of the comic book world.
- fasda, on 07/17/2008, -2/+3Actually I liked the X-men's leather costumes and besides they did get added in Grant Morrison's run
- digghasnoethics, on 07/17/2008, -4/+8You don't get it, the capes and cowels are SUPPOSED to look dumb - broken personalities playing at superheros.
The movie will look OK, but miss the point - if this trailer is anything to go by.- HenryJonesJr, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3Fair point, but my statement still holds. Regardless of the intention, what should have looked ridiculous, if what we're told was true about translating comics to film, instead looks pretty damn cool. Some attempt should be made at replicating the look of the comic book, much like Spider-man and more recently Iron Man did. They shouldn't just take the easy way out and slap everyone in black leather.
- wentwj, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8I have no idea how the hell anyone could say it misses the point from the trailer. I'm not saying it won't, I'm saying it's impossible to tell by judging off the trailer. Which leads me to believe that anyone who says it, is almost certainly presupposing that it'll miss the point.
I personally think the trailer looks awesome, and while I always had hope synder would pull it off, this trailer GREATLY re-enforces that. I don't know what else I'd really want out of a watchmen trailer.
- brainscab, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3The whole Laurie Juspeczyk Silk specter thing was way overboard, when the main thrust of her character in the novel is how human and frail she is, and how ridiculous her outfit is.

- SilentSpyder, on 07/17/2008, -32/+27Am I the only one that thinks it looks crappy? It feels like they're marketing it as regular superhero movie, when Watchmen (aside from the campy costumes) should be anything but a regular superhero movie. I don't see comics by the Brits (Moore, Gaiman) as action packed slug-fests, which is what this looks like.
- HenryJonesJr, on 07/17/2008, -1/+14You said it yourself, "they're marketing it". You gotta get people into the theater to see it. That's what a trailer is supposed to do, and I would venture that this one will be highly successful at doing just that.
- floppyparty, on 07/17/2008, -6/+8Yea, I think it looks lame. Some parts look really cheap and I still feel like this movie is a big mistake. Ozymandias looks like a little bitch as well.
- erikwithaknotac, on 07/17/2008, -2/+1he looks 15
- Nosferotu, on 07/17/2008, -2/+1I agree it looks like if it's what they're marketing it as, it won't be true to the source material, but there's saying that you think it won't be great, then there's being a douche, and your comment is more toward the later than former.
- Spiderbrigade, on 07/17/2008, -0/+8Ozymandias IS a little bitch.
- BevansDesign, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5Yea, I've gotta agree. They got him exactly right. :)
- HoratioHellpop, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4How the hell can you tell that from a two minute trailer?
- bjfewell, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4what i don't get is, if a 2 minute trailer isn't sufficient to determine the quality of the end product, why are people creaming their shorts?
- fasda, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6Its not going to be an action packed film they are only showing it like that in the trailer so they don't give away the hole plot which most other trailers do.
- Tiak, on 07/17/2008, -0/+10It's a trailer, the nature of trailers these days is to put loads of action in and try to get as many people excited while knowing as little about the movie itself as possible.
It's unlikely for example, that they would attract more viewers by including a shot for their Nixon-lookalike talking. - egamipeaks, on 07/17/2008, -3/+3Yeah, I am up in the air. There seems to be way too much slow motion "badass *****" for Watchmen. It needs to be gritty. Could just be the trailer though.
- Nosferotu, on 07/17/2008, -1/+5I have wanted so bad for a Watchmen movie to be made for so many years now that, while I got that same feeling like this is being made into an action-packed superhero movie instead of the more political philosophical thought-provoking film it should be, I am hoping we're both wrong and it's going to be awesome.
Either way, gotta keep the faith. - hemetae, on 07/17/2008, -0/+5I know Snyder had said in the past that he wanted to avoid the cliche superhero movie & that he was going for a Taxi Driver meets Dr Strangleove vibe... If he pulls that off & keeps the suits from wrecking it, I'll be most impressed.
- capotesan, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3He's going to be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. This book has become such a legend that tons of comic geeks with nothing better to do are going to find minute details to rail against. At least he had the sac to take on the project. For my money, it looks phenomenal.
- RenegadeRoy, on 07/18/2008, -7/+3The book shouldn't have been made into a film in the first place. This trailer confirms that. I won't be seeing this.
- OtterStratton, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6If you've read the book recently, you should be overjoyed to see that the trailer contains so many shots that are identical to the panels in the comic book. That alone should be enough to make you completely excited and as giddy as a school girl.
- fudged71, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2that's ME !
- HappyScrappy, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2You saw 300. Same director.
I'm happy with the appearance of the characters, but given what Snyder did with "300", this could just be characters throwing punches and shouting lines at full volume.
I hope I'm wrong about this, but he's guilty until proven innocent.
- xkingADROCKx, on 07/17/2008, -7/+96This looks awesome, they've got Dr Manhattan perfectly
- bjornski, on 07/17/2008, -0/+15Agreed. When I saw him show up in the clip, I was impressed.
And the whole 1/4 of a second you got to see of Rorschach's mask was creepily well done.
I'll try not to get my hopes too high, but I'm psyched so far. - hemetae, on 07/17/2008, -4/+18Except that his blue dick isn't hanging out.
- JustinPM, on 07/17/2008, -2/+18Not a detail I was looking for honestly. You go right ahead though, I don't need it to be THAT close to the source material.
- BevansDesign, on 07/18/2008, -2/+8I must say, I'm very glad. Also, it makes sense when you think about it; why would a nigh-omnipotent being need reproductive organs? And I don't think he has to eat/drink either. Besides, he can probably make them appear and disappear at will.
- WafflesID, on 07/18/2008, -1/+7Sure looked like his twig and berries were visible at 1:22 to me.
- HappyScrappy, on 07/18/2008, -2/+8I double-checked with the comic, the only scene where you see him below the waist in this trailer (where he is blowing up armies in Vietnam) he has trunks on. But he has them on in the comic in that scene too.
So Dr. Manhattan's nudity is unresolved at this time.
BevansDesign:
*SPOILARZ*
A big part of the reason his dick matters is that yes, he can make them appear and disappear at will. But as the Comedian points out, Dr. Manhattan is losing his humanity, he can't even think enough like a human anymore to realize things like perhaps he should hide his penis.
It's a significant glimpse into his character, and taking it out would hurt the story a bit. - boombye, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5He didn't walk around with it hanging out most of the time, he wore that black underwear thing too. You might want to crack open The Watchmen again and take a look, I have mine right here.
- HappyScrappy, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2boombye:
I did take a look, thanks. A coworker wanted to borrow one of my copies, and I thumbed it.
In most of the panels, you don't even see him below the waist, so it's unclear what he is wearing in those scenes. In some he's clearly naked, in some he's clearly clothed (such as when he goes on the talk show) and in some we can't be sure. - otto989, on 07/19/2008, -0/+21:21 to 1:24
- dn11, on 07/18/2008, -4/+4he looks cool but a bit too muscular IMO. Snyer is obsessed with over developed ab muscles.
- boombye, on 07/18/2008, -1/+5Wtf? Do you even know what you're talking about? Doc Manhattan was a bit muscular to begin with, he walks around naked all the time, so you think he'd try not to walk around looking flabby.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:DocManhattan.JP ...
Look at this image, and then tell me he doesn't look muscular in that. - dn11, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2yeah, but he looked more streamlined in the comic, less like a top heavy Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's not really a big deal - it's just an artistic choice, but it's the only thing about the LOOK of the trailer that struck me as off

- brainscab, on 07/18/2008, -3/+1I like the glow effect, but he is a sold blue in the comic, not some weird over colorized blue.
- databeast, on 07/18/2008, -0/+3considering Dave Gibbons involved in this film, I've got a sneaky suspicion this was done with Dave's approval of 'this is how I wanted him to look, we didnt have the printing detail to do that though'
- bjornski, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1I like the extra shading, it gives a bit of definition, and makes the facial emotions easier to convey, and it doesn't throw off the whole look.
I don't see it as a problem.

However, due to creative differences Hayter left and they hired Alex Tse. Unfortunately, according to this (two year old) script review, "All that Tse has added [to Hayter's script] is rotten dialogue and cheesy action scenes."

- Sawta, on 07/17/2008, -20/+5That looked *almost* as bad as the trailer for The Spirit, but had a really awkward Smashing Pumpkins...er...Zwan(?) song slapped on top of it.
- sadmancomputer, on 07/17/2008, -0/+8What's stranger is that that Pumpkins song was written specifically for the Batman and Robin soundtrack
- november5th, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3It is a remix of the Smashing Pumpkins single The End is the Beginning is the End, which was on the Batman and Robin soundtrack. The original version is one of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins songs, but all of the remixes are great. Kind of a shame that it was associated with the worst Batman movie. I think the remixed version used in the Watchmen trailer is called The Beginning is the End is the Beginning. Either way - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_End_Is_The_Beginn ...
