- Altair27, on 01/10/2009, -2/+108Hopefully after these negotiations fox will finally agree to eat all the dicks.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -5/+68Of course it was going to be released, and on time. Both studios just want to make as much money as possible.
The only people that are going to eat many dicks will be the audience, if they take out the giant inter-dimensional squid or stray from the original classic in any other way.
Also, am I the only one who doesn't remember a scene in the graphic novel depicting JFK's assassination? According to this trailer, the Comedian was the guy behind the fence on the grassy knoll.
http://digg.com/movies/Watchmen_Japanese_trailer_n ... - michaelpinto, on 01/09/2009, -3/+59I hope so — I'd love to see this film!
- fpaudon, on 01/10/2009, -1/+53JFK's assassination was mentioned in Watchmen when Dr. Manhattan was blamed for not preventing the assassination.
wow, i feel pathetic now - DarknessGP, on 01/10/2009, -0/+35"It's not about money... it's about sending a message. Everything burns! "
- SeaweedWater, on 01/10/2009, -10/+42No squid alien thingy ending = still screwed
- GeneParmesann, on 01/10/2009, -3/+32I have a feeling that when this meeting happens FOX will take all the settlement cash, put it in a big pile and set it on fire, stating that they didn't do this for the money but because they are bat ***** evil.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -4/+31It'll still be all in slo-mo.
- Nn010385, on 01/10/2009, -3/+26Why don't you just go read the book instead of expecting everybody to explain it to you?
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -2/+25Same way your mom can still do the laundry while getting double teamed by the neighbors I'd guess
- bvooste, on 01/10/2009, -3/+23I don't know how Fox can be engaged in serious talks while its mouth is full of acres of dicks.
http://www.cracked.com/blog/fox-can-eat-several-di ... - failedprototype, on 01/10/2009, -5/+23I don't see why everyone is so resistant to the changes to the movie. All the fanboys seem to want a scene-for-scene interpretation of the graphic novel but if you already know what's going to happen in every scene, why even bother going to see the movie? Sure the squid ending was taken out but the vast majority of movie goers aren't going to be terribly understanding of "Oh yeah, a giant squid just blew up New York. Just so you know." The original graphic novel isn't perfect. In fact, it's nowhere near what it's hyped up to be. If they want to change a part here and there, I'm all for it.
- jcroweall7, on 01/10/2009, -3/+20By making a movie, they're already straying from the original source. The format is as important to the storytelling as any scene, character or plot development.
I have a firm belief that there are ways to work around the squid (if the rumors are right), and I mostly hope they pick a good one. The intent can still be there without adding $25 mil to the effects budget. - alF56x, on 01/10/2009, -0/+17God damn ***** you... I was reading it also. Thanks for ruining it dick.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+16WANT CALAMARI
- arlesquin, on 01/10/2009, -1/+17It was implied that the Comedian had a hand in JFK's assassination.
He says, at one of Nixon's inauguration parties, half-drunk, (half?) joking "Just don't ask me where I was when they killed JFK! - HanSolo69, on 01/10/2009, -1/+16Fans rejoice! Everyone else kind of shrug your shoulders in a sign of indifferent solidarity!
- MeatMountain, on 01/10/2009, -6/+21Real fans wanted it to die because of the rewritten ending.
- toledojon, on 01/10/2009, -1/+15Changed ending or not, the movie looks damn entertaining and I look forward to seeing it not because it's Watchmen, but because it looks incredible in its own right.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+14He's an understudy for the Blue Man Group.
- AgarwaenUmarth, on 01/10/2009, -1/+15Using a bomb would start the war. The only thing to do would be to focus humanity on an alien threat. Enter squid.
- Jambi, on 01/10/2009, -0/+14Yeah... this is the sort of story tailor-made for an HBO miniseries.
- whahaa, on 01/10/2009, -0/+12that's why it's going to be 2 hours and 45 minutes.
- macfan93, on 01/10/2009, -2/+13I have a feeling that the squid ending will still be there, but that Snyder filmed an alternate ending for test audiences. He knew that they would talk and he wants to put in a shock for the die hard fans at the end when they see the squid ending. At least I can dream.... right?
- Ferago, on 01/10/2009, -3/+14they already took out the giant squid.
- Leems, on 01/10/2009, -1/+11Nobody bitched about the Dark Knight after all they hype!
- asdfgafawer3, on 01/10/2009, -0/+10Fan or not, I don't see how any one could read it and think "yeah, this would work well as a 2 hour movie."
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -1/+10http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=watchmen+wikip ...
- Mersonix, on 01/10/2009, -0/+9The fans will look up and shout "save it" and Fox will say "Maybe"
- AgarwaenUmarth, on 01/10/2009, -0/+9There's a reason for the squid that's rather integral to the scheme. They'll have to have something similar or the plot falls to pieces.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -1/+9Snape kills Dumbledore

It was all a dream - daschupa, on 01/10/2009, -0/+8An exerpt from an article on digg a few weeks ago.
http://www.cracked.com/blog/fox-can-eat-several-di ... - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+8How can Fox be in the talking with all those dicks in their mouths?
- MeatMountain, on 01/10/2009, -2/+9lol spoilt
- DevSingh1359, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7Then I'll send a box of fireproof, indestructible rubber dicks.
- allisonaxe, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7they'll burn those, too. save your money.
- Dukewintermaul, on 01/11/2009, -1/+8<Agreement/same point, but worded slightly differently as to get far more Diggs>
- jcroweall7, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7This is good news. I saw the (new?) trailer before Gran Torino last night and actually got swept up emotionally by how good it looked.
- inactive, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7Was The Comedian behind the fence in the graphic novel?
- fadingsignal, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7Acres. Acres of dicks.
- sockfire, on 01/10/2009, -1/+8<generic comment about movie underperforming because of an assumption about how it will end>
- DarknessGP, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6It's not like the movie wasn't going to come out. Fox just timed it right so they can swoop in and get movie from the release and dvd release... let's face it, they knew it was coming, they just waited until Warner past the watertower (point of no return) so they could cash in on it.
- TheKappa, on 01/11/2009, -3/+9I'm a "real fan", owning three different copies of the story and having read it more than two dozen times.
I don't care about the changed ending. In fact, I think the changes suit the cinematic version better than the inclusion of the squid.
But I'm sure you're much more of a "real fan" than me.
Or maybe you just like to whine. - DevSingh1359, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6Those evil, evil bastards...I will send them a box of rubber dicks if that happens.
- Rickimaru, on 01/10/2009, -1/+7As long as they keep the same message that the end of the book conveys I see no reason that they can't remove the squid. Yes it does change the story some, but you can still get the theme and what it represents across in different ways I feel. The movie is an interpretation of the novel, not a scene by scene recreation of the book. If I wanted that I would just read it again, I am excited to see how someone interprets it in the cinema format.
- dylio, on 01/10/2009, -2/+7SPOILER
Ozymandias still may just use a nuke/bomb/whatever to kill off half the populace. I never saw the reason why it had to be a squid. That always confused me.
EDIT: I know Veidt wanted to prevent nuclear war, but regardless I could see them twisting the ending. - RandaII, on 01/10/2009, -8/+13You know whats funny is that you all fanboys will bitch about the movie not coming but when it comes out you will say you are all disappointed and bitch and whine it's pathetic. watch when the movies comes out you will all bitch on how bad it was. so please do us all a favor and shut the ***** up. thank you
- smj887, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5I'm not big on graphic novels/comics, so I may be wrong, but Dark Knight wasn't based on any specific graphic novel was it? If so, then of course no one complained about the Dark Knight not doing the graphic novel justice, because there was no comic for it to do justice to - unlike Watchmen, which is supposed to be based on one of the greatest graphic novels ever.
I can definitely see all of the enthusiasts here complaining once it's out, but I can also see there being very little bitching because the movie looks incredible. - anubis2night, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5This lady doesn't have much of a clue as too what the real issues are behind this fiasco. She goes on to bitch about Gordon but it looks like she never really took a look at his side of the story nor the timeline. Buried for being a small time hack that wants to cash in on a good story with weak reporting.
- GhostFreeman, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5Nobody else wants them. WB is the one taking such a big risk on this movie. I say eat up, douchebags.
