- Crash1337, on 07/13/2009, -0/+54Should have stayed in the movie, was a decent fight scene. Glad that there is a directors cut.
- JonTheGoose, on 07/13/2009, -1/+50The death of Hollis was one of the parts in the book that really got to me. Especially when the kids find him...
- TwwIX, on 07/13/2009, -0/+25I Am definitely getting the directors cut. Scene such as this are necessary to flesh out the characters and the world that they are living in.
It should never have been removed in the first place. - SandwichTurtle, on 07/13/2009, -0/+20Just a matter of time, I suppose.
- CaptCourt, on 07/13/2009, -0/+18Much better than most deleted scenes.
- noahgelman, on 07/13/2009, -0/+18Awesome scene. Lets you see a few more of the old school villains. But now I'm sad because he had to die like that :(
- inactive, on 07/12/2009, -0/+16Speak English
- RiperSnifle, on 07/13/2009, -0/+13Already downloaded and watched it. The Hollis Mason death scene is very well filmed and is just, well kinda different from most death scenes in movies. You'll see what I mean.
- noahgelman, on 07/13/2009, -1/+12ENGLISH *****!!! DO YOU SPEAK IT?!?!
- yutt, on 07/13/2009, -0/+8Word? Vanilla Ice, is that you?
- MrMugoo, on 07/13/2009, -1/+8Beautiful scene, the cinematography and editing was fantastic as the rest of the film. Definitely buying the Directors Cut now.
Fo Sho - parax, on 07/13/2009, -0/+7Anybody who's that easily confused probably shouldn't venture out of the house long enough to even see a movie. I have greater faith in mankind, I think most of us can handle all the complexity a good story throws at us.
- voodooray, on 07/12/2009, -3/+9Fantastic
- Philbert, on 07/13/2009, -0/+5Most deleted scenes are deleted for a reason.
- cryonix, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4^^ didn't get it.
- Jeremyz0r, on 07/13/2009, -3/+7Wasn't deleted in the screener edition I watched.
- RiperSnifle, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4I hope Bubastis rips your face off.
- OatmealBatman2, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4Just like Kingdom of Heaven, this is going to be a movie where the director's cut is miles above the theatrical cut. Not all stories can be told in two hours! Studios should learn that.
- moothemagiccow, on 07/13/2009, -0/+4I thought having him in the flick at all was kind of pointless since they didn't show the death. Without having read the comic, you'd just think he's some random old dude Nite Owl's friends with
- GhettoHmbrglr, on 07/13/2009, -1/+5compared to you maybe it seems like 15 feet
- SirBruce, on 07/13/2009, -2/+6I can't believe people are praising the scene. It had some good moments, yes, but the gang dialog at the beginning was some of the worst acting and delivery I've seen in a while. And the language of the phone call needed to be rewritten; notice how she immediately jumps to not believing Sally is back in costume. You don't say "I can't get over ..." 2 seconds after you just learned about it. This was a scene great in concept but lacking in execution. I agree that the death of Hollis Mason is very important and should be part of the movie, but I can see why this attempt at it was left on the cutting room floor, and they probably didn't have time to reshoot.
- MasterInsan0, on 07/13/2009, -1/+5Well aren't you special.
- Yage2006, on 07/13/2009, -1/+5Watchmen best super hero movie ever imho.
Will buy the extended cut when it comes out for sure :) - floppytaco, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3I know you are not Larry Wachowski but just in case you really are I just wanted to let you know that Matrix Revolutions was the most horrible movie I have ever seen. It made me wish my mom had an abortion so I wouldn't have to watch it anymore.
- VinnieDaMac, on 07/13/2009, -1/+4Most are deleted cause they suck, I think this was delete purely because of length issues.
- Kronos6948, on 07/13/2009, -1/+3Old people being murdered isn't about entertainment. It's a moving part of the story. You've obviously never read Watchmen.
- themastersb, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2lol. It was probably an R5 that you watched. That's where I saw it.
- Kronos6948, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Then allow me to rephrase,
You obviously don't understand drama. Watching an old person being murdered isn't supposed to be entertaining unless you're borderline psychopathic. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy a movie where an old person is murdered. It's part of the story. It's meant to be a MOVING part of the story, and it does just that. - frepnog, on 07/13/2009, -1/+3you should see a doctor about those feelings. they could cause harm to yourself or others.
- mindesign, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2yeah the dialog was lacking for sure but i found the fight scene beautiful.
- Kronos6948, on 07/13/2009, -0/+21984 wants their language back.
- Whatasillyhat, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2I agree, that gang talk at the start was awful, but the actual fight scene was great.
- Yage2006, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2Badumbum.
- shotgunefx, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2While it's not a bad scene, they really didn't introduce that aspect, nor the "Katies" in general. Probably would have seemed random.
Also, again, way overboard with the powers. He's an old frail guy who gets beaten to death while he dreams of what his younger self would have done. He gets like one punch in. - WELLDOITLIVE, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2And so was this one... but that reason was because most idiots don't have the attention span to handle a 3 hour movie in the theater.
- aeck, on 07/13/2009, -0/+2Wh-what?
- mywhitenoise, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I don't think it was as dramatic as the comic. Wasn't the scene extremely dark for the comic?
- mywhitenoise, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1What movie did you see? The Watchmen I saw in theaters was pretty closer to 3 hours than 2.
- OatmealBatman2, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1And perhaps the Watchmen director's cut will hover around 4 hours, I just mean to say that a complete narrative can't always be boiled down to the cookie cutter time frame that studios want. I used Kingdom of Heaven as an example because the difference between the theatrical and director's cut is 45 minutes, which made a qualitative difference in the story itself.
- Yage2006, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I already saw it. But I can see why it did not make the theatrical cut.
Actually there are a few scenes on the bluray that while are not terrible where not necessary for the theatrical cut. - Elranzer, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I'll skip the compressed Internet video and wait till I can see it in 1080P when it hits the stores.
- VinnieDaMac, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I thought the music in THAT scene was pretty good, but I didn't really feel like the upbeat 80's music really fit in with the movie in some of the other scenes.
- techlinks, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1I would wait for the Extended Cut coming out in December. It will have the Tales of the Black Freighter cut into the rest of the film, just like the novel.
- slantyeyed, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1nice, plays out pretty much exactly like comic
- TheMeatball, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1Was that Peter Stormare in the space helmet?
- antdude, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1There are more if you search for them: http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=Watchmen+%22 ... ...
- heavystone, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Why is this "news"? I take it people who loved the theater version have also seen the Directors Cut. Personally I loved the Directors Cut far more. But this scene was a good thing leaving out, mainly due to the ***** awful acting of the gang members. There is also a scene were Night Owl beats the ***** out of a Gang Member when he hears about the death on the news while in a bar.
- shotgunefx, on 07/13/2009, -2/+3One of my biggest complaints with the movie is how he made them punching out walls and all that other crap. The whole point of the book is they're regular people in costumes and have no powers except Manhattan.
The five minutes on that ridiculous fight before the Comedian takes his dive could have been spent introducing more of the minor characters that made the end actually mean something in the book. Could have saved another five with Silk Specter jumping through the roof in slow-mo for absolutely no-discernible reason in the fire except it looked cool. Take out all the slow-mo and you've got another 10, there's 20 minutes to actually get into the subplots.
And my biggest gripe, the end. I can see why they changed it, but it was bloodless and had no weight. The carnage and all of the people you spent the book getting to know was what made it mean something.
Though they did get some stuff right. Rorschach was spot on. - Joest23, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1I would rather have had that than one of those ***** sex scenes. Even if the gang acting was bad and the phone dialog was badly written, it was still better than one of those sex scenes.
