- stlcadet11, on 10/12/2007, -5/+42Pretty cool but watching 24 minutes of a movie and not being able to see the rest for a while is kind of like jacking off and halfway through just stopping and saying... "eh, I'll finish next week".
- alanspach, on 10/12/2007, -12/+46you are a giant douche, how's that for descriptive?
- breezy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+32Would you prefer he said "click the title to watch the first 24 min. of 'A Scanner Darkly'!"?
- umrgregg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22Sorry for non-topic reply, but there should be a NSFW tag on this movie. There is some nudity that may get you in trouble. You know, if you weren't going to get in trouble for watching movies at work to begin with... ;)
- procdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Thats a pretty cool idea, showing the first X minutes of a movie. Most of the time you can get a feel for the movie in the first 10 minutes even if the ending is totally lame. Definately would of saved me my $8 that I wasted to see Bloodrayne. (btw Bloodrayne is probably the worst movie I have ever seen, the dialog was horrific.)
- bwoodall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13looked kinda 'iffy' until the 9, no 8 speed bike scene came up. they got my 8 dollars.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11You actually held out hope that a Uwe Boll movie might actually be good? What is wrong with you?
- caliform, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Cell-shaded? You are retarded. This is obviously filmed, and then Rotoscoped (in the program Rotoshop). Look it up before you blurt out incessant nonsense. It's a very difficult and artistic process which has shown it's merits in the movie "Waking Life".
- thirdman, on 10/12/2007, -9/+16You don't really get more descriptive than that
- CJHtxGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Actually Serenity offered the first 8 mins of the feature aswell, not sure if they were first, but it was nice.
- r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This is great, now all the pirate copies filmed with a video camera in the cinema will have kick ass picture & audio quality for the first 24 mins! ;)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12It says 'watch the first 24 minutes' implying that its a VIDEO and even the URL says 'film' in it. "Title says it all" = "watch part of a movie".
Duh. - russizm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6animated boobies.
- SenatorPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Poorly written? You make me cry... on the inside.
- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It was the scene about the 18-speed bike that sold me.
I hope the rest of the rest of the movie is balanced with this kind of humour :D - VirgoanVenom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I like the direction things seem to be going. First we saw the first few minutes of X-Men III, now this. I hope that trend will continue further, to the point where we will be able to one day see a full length feature film, paying for it of course. When will they see that they can make more money like that. But I don't really want to get into it now.
- ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dude, umm, I think that's kinda the point. It's been awhile since I read the book, and haven't watched the clip yet, but I think the point was that the drugs were ruining their perception.
- cameron074, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I don't see the word horny anywhere in his post. If you can't decipher the fact that he's comparing watching only the first bit of a new movie to rubbing one out then stopping halfway through, well....
here are some pretty pictures!
www.youreadolt.com - MiDri, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Tantra movie watching!
- consoneo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9"Title says it all," means I don't know what this thing is, but I'm gonna post it so people look at it.
The best thing to put in the "Description" field... is a description! What the show is about, when it's coming out... What is it??
Come on folks. - loveandrockets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, it is a brilliant movie with things called "ideas" and "talking" that Hollywood usually avoids.
- StickyShoez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Sweet film style. Crazy Show.
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31 thing, ***** AWESOME.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Should have lumped your whining in with the rest of the clowns upthread. "Watch" implies something moving - in this case a video. Just because you're ignorant as to what "A Scanner Darkly" is doesn't mean everyone has to spoonfeed us in the description field. This is one of the few times a one-liner description is actually accurate.
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Is the waitress Sarah Lane...?
- r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3well to be fair, cell shading is used for some of the special effects of some objects & backgrounds... but it is minimal.
I certainly wouldn't call it a cellshaded movie though. - dugbay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What type of nudidy is on the video? Im at work, and they monitor everything.
- mellenger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Super Troopers was the first that i can remember that let you watch the first scene of the movie online. it totally worked for me, i got up and stumbled to the theatre like some comedy crazed lunatic.
- loveandrockets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That is a humorous scene. Downey's character says they have the extra 9 gears laying about on the floor of their shop and are going to sell them back to him one at a time. They are so high they don't know.
When I saw this in the theater, it had the audience laughing. (I guess because 1: it is funny and 2: me and other people have been so high we didn't know what the hell we were talking about either.) - stranflow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Saw a pre-screening of this. I think the artwork/animation was great. There were over 40 animators to handle the rotoscoping. Beautiful and subtle details throughout. The scrabble suit was great. Story however...there were some funny and interesting scenes but there story left one longing. No character development and the pacing was painful at times.
- funkytaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't believe you saw BloodRayne. The commercials usually show some action and all it showed was a tight headshot of some dude on a throne.
Anyways, Serenity did something like this. I think you could see the first 10 minutes of the movie fullscreen. - s7r1k3r, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6elektra and daredevil were just as bad.
- cameron074, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hey it's the clue train, last stop is...you!
awesome, different kind of visual story telling, and a great story (as long as it goes by the book) - TheWestExit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When the scrable suit is introduced you can see Philip K. Dick as one of the scrambles. Micheal Jackson from Thriller also makes an apperance.
- xain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't wait for this movie
- haloevo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This movie looks good. How is this legal?
- alphamerik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5
For linux, as previous link said, download
http://ffmovies.ign.com/filmforce/video/article/717/717774/scanner_24mins_070706_flvlowwide.flv
You can then use ffmpeg to convert. - detuned, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2its legal cause its approved promotion
- myheaditches, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Serenity scene was the one that showed Simon and River escaping in the past, which I believe was the first scene.
- 4NDr01D, on 10/12/2007, -1/+324 ? where is Kiefer Sutherland ? j/k
respect to PKD, wish I could see this movie, but none of the crap theaters are playing it here... - The_Dude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The review I read said the animation style makes the movie more than the story itself. I'm not checking out the trailer because I want it to all be fresh and new tonight.
- dSlifer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't wait for the movie to come out, I love movies with a visual style rather than the plain filming and editing out scenes
- Xtrem3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Highlights:
00:00 - Anti-Piracy Notice *lawl*
13:36 - Animated waitress boobs ( WITH TAN LINES!!! ) *hawt*
20:40 - 18 Speed Bike *lawl*
23:55 - End!!!! - input, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mplayer should be able to play the .flv file as-is, no need for convert.
- christoscamaro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did anyone else see Winona Rider's interview?
She sounded and acted really strange. - devilman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It looks pretty awesome! Better than I expected.
- Clemenceau, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, that was more character-driven than I first gave it credit for. I'm definitely seeing it.
- iamagrenade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The marketing campaign worked. i just bought 3 tickets through the magics of the Inter-Web!
- rlorenzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1actually wants to make me watch the full movie now...
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Shall I explain to you what a stop sign is too? Or is too self explanatory?
