Optimus shouldn't be rendered like the cartoon/toys for the movie, but this is a wee bit overdone. I don't like the flame details at all either - if they eliminated 20% of the design elements he would look a lot better.

If it is the first... get a life and stop harassing the people who want to see stuff like it was. Change isn't always good.
If it is the second, please don't knock the people who remember Transformers for what they really were. Well to be fair, the producers wanted to use the Beetle for Bumblebee, but VW refused because they didn't want their product associated with "violence". - chadlewis76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2From the trailer, it looks like it could be an *ok* Bay-style action movie with robots. To call it Transformers though, is misleading. They've changed the look of every character, the names of some, and completely revamped the story. This movie has almost nothing at all to do with the original source material. I really wish they would've given this movie to someone who had at least a small amount of respect for the IP. Transformers can and have been re-envisioned in a realistic manner in graphic novels, without ***** on my childhood in the process, and it's a shame Bay doesn't have the vision or the creativity to do that for this movie.

- ProfessorRiffs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1While I've been very unhappy with what I've seen of Prime so far, the pic on the cover of this mag takes it back a bit, back into really-actually-looking-like-Optimus-Prime-land. The head looks WAY better, and I dig the very obvious parts of the semi truck on the chest. I've heard that the look of the transformers will be changing with time, so hopefully this is the direction they're heading.

Sure Prime looks not all that bad but still barely reckognizable and as for Megatron well I won't even go there. Well I hope the movie is not all bad I personally haven't liked most of what I have seen so far in terms of Autobot and Decepticon designs. They already had the designs to work with the original 80's cartoons. Megatron was a gun/cannon now he's a scorpion wierd looking thing. Optimus Prime with the exception of his head also could have been done a lot better. This whole let Hollywood completely re-design things is ridiculus.
What they are doing to the transformers here would be like if George Lucas completely re-designed Darth Vader for episode 3. The transformers are almost unreckognizable in this movie.

It was only after they got to Earth that they updated the vehicles they turned into to become more appropriate and blend in with everything else. I'm sure being a flamer was part of that :P

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok we all know Optimus PRIME died 2 times Once in the Movie, brought back in the show as for evil purposes and than died again (face fell off ) and apparently went up in flames with the Ark(fallen transformers grave) into the sun. Later on found again and the Quintasons brought him back to life where the Golden age of Cybertron was formed again.

Honestly, I can't understand why people bother with these kinds of concerns. If the movie's crap, you still have your precious DVDs of the original series. Michael Bay hasn't invented a new kind of film that actually *reaches into the past* and makes the G1 cartoon suck. No one is going to come out of this movie and say "You know what? Those transforming cars were pretty damn stupid. What a stupid five-year-old I was!"

me greatly. Sure i was a huge 80's/90's Transformers fan like everyone else. I even enjoyed the BEAST-WARS/Beasties
and BEAST MACHINES made in CANADA with great graphics, BUT I HATE THE ***** THEY HAVE NOW WITH aNIME' SYLE CRAP AND BUGG EYED HUMAN KIDS!! IT'S HORRIBLE. Transformers:Cybertron and all the others sucked ass.
And this is similar to the designs i'm seeing now with this movie there bodys have an Anime' twist to it and i don't like it~
PRIME SHOULD NEVER BE TEMPERED WITH nor SHOULD MEGATRON ( unless it's GALVATRON hahah)
PERIOD!~ I mean at least get the F'n colors right! A Blue Diesel Truck with Red Flames ???? Come on people !!
And are they even going to talk or have the hatered /emotion they had for each other in the old shows or animated Movie?
