- digitaldivinci, on 10/31/2008, -10/+58Dugg for Jesus Camp alone.
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -2/+25the power of nightmares, most chilling documentary I've ever seen, even if it wasn't 100% accurate, it hits a cord
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_of_Nightmar ...
if you've seen it in the hype of the bush cabal, you'd get extra points of chilliness. in a time everyone was scared ***** to say the truth, these few people dared. - sgtfuzzy, on 10/31/2008, -4/+25I just watched the first bit of Jesus Camp. Fundamental religion scares me...
- ElectroStep, on 10/31/2008, -6/+25Jesus Camp tops out. Easily.
- Ghoztt, on 10/31/2008, -5/+24"Who Killed the Electric Car"
- gkwillie, on 10/31/2008, -1/+18Scariest documentary I've ever seen.
- Kumah, on 10/31/2008, -6/+22Jesus Camp changed my life. That was one of the documentaries that pushed me over the edge and sent me on a journey to find what I really believed.
Now I'm a happy atheist : ] - theadvinci, on 10/31/2008, -2/+18Man... I've seen Jesus camp... shockingly scary stuff!
- digitaldivinci, on 10/31/2008, -0/+13I had 12 years of private Catholic education. This allowed me to have enough time to formulate questions and get answers that were sickeningly incomplete.
If you're happy with it, by all means.
But honestly? ***** you as well, good sir. - mrdeathgod, on 10/31/2008, -0/+12I also have to recommend "The Bridge". This guy did a documentary about Golden Gate Bridge suicides by filming the bridge for a solid year. Numerous suicides caught on tape, lots of interviews with the families and friends of the victims, and even one guy who managed to survive his jump. By no means a feel-good movie, but it definitely puts things in perspective.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0799954/ - SmartfulDodger, on 10/31/2008, -7/+18We aren't on the playground anymore, and you can't put your fingers in your ears when you hear something you don't like. Just because the message of Al Gore and Michael Moore don't agree with you, doesn't mean either films are outright lies or junk science.
Besides, the majority of public policy wonks and the science community seem to disagree with your statements. - kkiram, on 10/31/2008, -2/+12conspiracy theories are always interesting. i enjoyed this one, but i don't know if i can believe everything it conveys. a must watch for conspiracy theory buffs tho.
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -0/+10the enron one was plain ***** up, they should throw those bastards to the people
- CrunchyDeluxe, on 10/31/2008, -6/+16Moore makes op-ed pieces, and says they're documentaries.
- mistertrogdor, on 10/31/2008, -2/+12Where is "The Money Masters" and
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6076118677 ...
"The Century of Self"
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8953172273 ...
These imply that we have all been woefully deceived for at least a few generations if not longer. - a117, on 10/31/2008, -2/+11Once again another idiot who doesn't actually listen to what people are really saying.
"That was one of the documentaries..."
-Meaning it wasn't just "Jesus Camp".
"and sent me on a journey to find what I really believed."
-Meaning he looked around AFTER watching the films to discover, deep down, what he truly believed.
So, chipwar, it could argued that YOU are the happy idiot. People like Kumah seek the truth for themselves, and that should be encouraged. People like you, chipwar, would rather people remain ignorant. And for that, I wish I could digg you down more than once because you're stoopid. - grantmoore3d, on 10/31/2008, -0/+9I just started watching it... I'm 5 minute in and I'm already terrified.
- ElectroStep, on 10/31/2008, -3/+12You might want to check one or two of those facts.
Just sayin'. - gkwillie, on 10/31/2008, -1/+9I believe that Zeitgeist is the definition of 'Preaching to the Converted'.
- risingson, on 10/31/2008, -1/+9Taxi to the Dark Side
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0854678/ - davincih, on 10/31/2008, -13/+21Al Gore scares me. I'm pretty sure he's a killer robot.
- dogson, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7why are you getting dug down, its true.
- aidanpryde18, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7Agreed, that movie scares the crap out of me.
In a similar vein, Friends of God by Alexandra Pelosi is an excellently scary documentary about much the same subject. - dieboldcracy, on 10/31/2008, -0/+6finally someone mentioned these. Everything else is irrelevent
- edjenkins234, on 10/31/2008, -13/+19give me examples of moore's "known lies"?
Ill admit he pushes a specific agenda in his movies but documentaries are supposed to take a stand and then back it up with evidence, which is what moore does consistently in his movies. - inactive, on 10/31/2008, -3/+8it begins by saying 'the jargon of economics doesn't let people understand it'.
are you incapable of reading wikipedia entries?
just another 'gold standard loving' piece that doesn't understand people's greed and lazyness won't be saved by a ***** shiny metal. - superpaulio, on 10/31/2008, -0/+5I saw a documentary about the atomic bomb testing that took place at the Bikini Atoll. It was pretty disturbing. I believe the name of the doc was "Radio Bikini."
- Herostratus, on 10/31/2008, -4/+9You want scary? Try these
9/11 The Road to Tyranny
Police State 2000 (and the sequals)
Terrorstorm
End Game: Blueprint for Global Enslavement
If you can still sleep after these your heart has already stopped beating and you're 6 ft under. They are all available streaming via google video. I was gonna put conspiracy of silence and Dark Secrets Inside Bohemian Grove too but Igor beat me to it. - Hetman, on 10/31/2008, -2/+7The only one that scares me is Jesus camp. Seriously the last thing I want to see is christian terrorist/warriors. And that is exactly what the people at Jesus Camp are trying to create. It is horrifying because people well do almost anything for their religion.
- sgtfuzzy, on 10/31/2008, -3/+7Go ahead and digg me down. Fundamental religion should scare the ***** out of you too. That is what is responsible for 9/11, that is what is responsible for abortion clinic bombings, and if that doesn't scare you, you are seriously messed up.
- Dohko_Xar, on 10/31/2008, -1/+5Not to be believed, just take it into consideration.
- Kenzan, on 10/31/2008, -3/+7Darn..I was hoping for links to the actual documentaries.
- richardstaboner, on 10/31/2008, -2/+6Have you seen the documentary? Those people loved 'em.
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -9/+13Bowling for Columbine -- http://www.hardylaw.net/Truth_About_Bowling.html
Sicko -- http://archives.chicagotribune.com/2007/jun/26/opi ...
Moore does NOT make documentaries. He makes propaganda films. - neurobox, on 10/31/2008, -1/+5You keep saying that. Debunk it or can it. There's too much that checks out in those videos to just assume he's a liar.
- Huangism, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4the scariest thing about this article is that the site has a really annoy ad where the background constantly flashes (green to white) which can cause seizure for some people
- R1100S, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4"Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" is very interesting to watch with the context of TODAY'S crisis in mind.
Pay attention to "mark-to-market" bookkeeping practices, and compare that to today's bail-out plans. Guess what "x" security will be worth in the future.....record as revenue.....profit.....fail spectacularly.
I wouldn't consider myself particularly financially savy, or even educated. But WOW...was that documentary a wake-up call as to HOW relatively few douche-bags can be greedy, not care who they hurt financially, all while getting obscene bonuses and stock options.
That documentary made me realize that HEAVY regulation of the financial sector is necessary. Hold the CEOs of major banks and corporations LEGALLY responsible for their actions. Just like an airline pilot. Sure....lives may not be at stake, but LIVELIHOODS are! Screw up? Pay the consequences. Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200 million. - inactive, on 10/31/2008, -11/+14oh enough with ***** gold standard.
economics 101 proves it's *****.
or at least unimportant.
gold is a ***** element, won't ***** save lazy and greedy people from their demise. - BadAshe86, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4Like the Academy awards have any academic credentials...there goes your credibility. Add to the political non-sense that's distorted the Nobel prize and you've got confusion written all over your face.
Any time the sources of a report try to legally censure someone because they've misrepresented the findings of their data, you need to question the conclusions of the report.
Al Gore is not a scientist. Next thing you'll be saying that he mapped the human genome and invented the Internet.... - publiclurker, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4Better than an ignorant, bitter, frightened idiot.
- Bic823, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3"The Corporation", as well.
- IgorUnchained, on 10/31/2008, -2/+5http://www.surfthechannel.com/show/documentaries/C ...
Conspiracy of Silence
http://www.surfthechannel.com/show/documentaries/D ...
Dark Secrets Inside Bohemian Grove
Both of these documentaries deserve to be on a list like this. - bagboyrebel, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Well I was going to make a joke and say the Jesus Camp should have been on the list, but I guess the author was way ahead of me.
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -1/+3Yeah, never mind our recent economic problems, printing money out of thin air is the way to go.
- JetMike, on 10/31/2008, -2/+4like to add Earthlings

I'm not a vegetarian, but this should be required watching in high school. - else7en, on 10/31/2008, -3/+5wake the ***** up
they gave a nobel peace prize to the ***** who nuked japan
doublespeak in its glory - SanTe, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2I apoligize for my comment hijack, but in keeping with the intent of the article, I.O.U.S.A. definitely should have been included:
http://www.iousathemovie.com - PennFarmer, on 10/31/2008, -1/+3No, for most of these it is not. Research would prove them to be true in the sense that some part of what they show is true, but that it is not representative of the actual situation. These are basically infomercials for the ideologies of the producers and the actual truth was frequently not invited to speak. As with all things, the burden rests on the viewer to verify what they have seen and taken in. Otherwise they deserve the moniker of "sheeple".
- maxtangent, on 11/02/2008, -1/+3Just more attacking the messenger and ignoring the message - a tactic relied on by those who don't have a logical leg to stand on and can only smear.
- JetMike, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Good one. Very effective film.
