- marcusgfunk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+27greetings programs!
- morel42, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23Please don't suck.. please don't suck...please don't suck... please don't suck... FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY AND GOOD IN THE WORLD please don't suck..
End of line.. - Dhalsim007, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17... End of Line.
- stan205, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16What an original idea. The movie industry gets an A+ for ingenuity.
/sarcasm - wespadfield, on 10/10/2007, -8/+22It'll suck. Really. It will. Nobody wants it to suck, but it will. I don't want it to suck, either, but it will. We'll hang on to the glimmer of hope that it won't suck, but honestly, they'll mess it up. They always do. It's best just to leave Tron alone. Rather than a sequel, or a remake, or a 'Special Edition', I'd like to see the original Tron, re-released, on the big screen, in all it's 1982/Futuristic goodness---for a $5 ticket price. Would I pay $10? No way. Yes, I could buy the DVD, and watch it all I want, but I'd like to see it BIG. For $5. I bet it would make decent money for an opening weekend, even for 5 bucks.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14It will fail.
Why not try and create a new movie that has something to do with our current pop culture and maybe try and challenge us a little. Kind of like Tron did 25 years ago? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I hope the villain is DRM.
- RollFizzlebeef, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Wow, a random pop culture "joke" on Family Guy.
- mojoel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Now we need 'Neuromancer'
- yaryarhumphump, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Tron made me a geek... :D
please be good - Curufir, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Because that would result in a two hour film of someone listening to an iPod whilst texting L337-speak into an iPhone with their 250 pound ass hanging out of their pants as they drool over the thought of their super-size Big Mac and diet coke in front of a floor to ceiling mirror screaming "Goddamn, my generation is the coolest that ever lived."
- BevansDesign, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10"described as 'the next chapter'"
You mean like this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tron_2.0
Still a solid game. - 1iProd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8They'd best not screw it up.
- johnny23, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Great, one more cherished childhood memory down the drain...at least it's not a remake.
- iblaine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I'm making a prediction...any motorcycle in this film will bear the name of a motorcycle brand such as Kawasaki or Harley. I don't want the movie to suck but odds are it will. Tron ended just fine and doesn't need a sequel. But surely Disney will make some coin off Tron II.
- cubswin297, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I think this guy just ruined his suit - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsF2RUMmpqc
- bubba9999, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5not a chance - there's a reason why people love the originals. Thinking you can capture that affection with a remake is a huge mistake. It almost never works.
- MindTrigger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!
-bit - fantasticFlan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It's a cult classic, meaning it wasn't initially very successful but developed a strong and lasting fan-base.
- captjc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Listen Dude, This isn't the old Encom Mainframe. There you had a bunch of well written, highly optimized programs fighting for limited system resources. Whereas what we have here? A bunch of crappy scripts written by 8 year-olds, trying to find reverse in a old Recognizer. This is not a worthy adversary.
Clippy, I love you, but sooner or later, you're going to have to realize the fact that you're a god damn moron. - DaFunk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It's going to be a very difficult task trying to match the look and feel of the first movie into the second. When the original was made those graphics were cutting edge and although pitiful by today's standards were breathtaking to moviegoers in the 80's. If you simply copy what the first one looked like, people will be upset, if you go overboard and use today's CG, people will also be upset. To me, it wasn't the story but the look and the feel of the first Tron movie that made it fun to watch. I'm not expecting an academy award winning story with the second, and I have doubts it'll be able to re-create the mood of the first.
Short version: the sheer newness and "cool" factor of CG in the 80's made Tron fun and pioneering. Tron 2 won't have that in its favor. - insanebrain, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7stupid moneymakers. .. STOP ***** UP GREAT CLASSICS !!!
- Authustian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4System.out.println("Hello!");
- splice, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4i dunno about the rest of you all, but i have *really* fond memories of this movie growing up. still have a couple of the action figures and light cycles. and how badass were those arcade/intellivision/etc games, the disneyland ride, etc. lots of fond memories. the beauty of the original was cullen and bridges and the amazing visuals, but i think the best we can hope for here is that disney respects the cult appeal of the original... i have to hope for the best.
"I never should have written all those tank programs." - ChromeWaves, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Agreed! They did a fantastic job of recreating the world of Tron. It's great just walking around and exploring.
- RichLatherX23, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5And to think, that Honda Civic commercial may be more of an appetizer rather than the after-dinner mint.
- grkgod, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4will they be wearing there cool blue electric suits? this movie would be cooler as long as sark was in it. and will flynn be drinking white russians?
- lastword2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjwS_0WV-1Q
that's the director - RollFizzlebeef, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Yay for our side!
- aralls, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4It was a line from the Simpsons. I was hoping for a long string of "no" answers. I guess if Diggers don't get it, I'm being too subtle.
- sremick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'd rather they made Tron 2 and have it suck than they make Neuromancer and have it suck.
- ParticleMan420, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3the dude abides
end of line. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Hey man, watch the drink.
- rodgerdodger5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Trailer or it isn't happening.
END OF LINE. - fantasticFlan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Was it a line from a recent Simpson's? If not, I apologize for missing it.
- imtigger2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That section of the PeopleMover at Disneyland was the BEST.
"... you have escaped Tron's game grid for now user, but take heed... next time you may not fare so well."
Then, right after the Tron tunnels, your ride above Autopia gave you 2min 55seconds to smoke out, have some cocktails, or whatever, before entering the tunnel for CircleVision. :) - allahuakbar, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Dork.
- iamafatguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Thanks for that bit of nostalgia.
- brada33928, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2there's a 68.71% chance you're right.
- manicallday, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3At least it doesn't have the potential to suck as much as the up and coming Warriors remake.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0423512/
This will suck.
Cannnnn youuuu diiiiiggg iiiiiiittttt? - thephosphorbox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Been waiting 25 years for this!!! One of my favourite childhood movies finally getting a sequel..
Now.. let's talk about that Super Fuzz sequel :) - bwayne1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"According to MovieWeb, '[screenwriter Lee] Sternthal said the new concept is that the computer programmer gets trapped in a cyberworld, so that the film can utilize the Internet.'"

In other words, we should be looking forward to "Tron: Journey to the Center of Buy.com". Lame, much? - zetec, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Stop trying to be the old curmudgen.
PS: Music nowadays sucks and theres kids on your lawn. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You never know. They may follow the same graphical output and have the whole movie rendered in 5 minutes or less, or they may go with the times (I dearly hope not).
- CognitiveD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I wish they let John Lasseter do it instead of Kosinski...
Feel kinda bad for him if he's not involved..the guy have mentioned tron and his love for it (and desire to do a remake/sequel) in more or less every interview he has given. - anagoge, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It just might work.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Sadly, I can almost guarantee that MS will have part in this sequel.
- CapeKid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3All hail the user!
- imtigger2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Negative mark for using "lols" Sorry, but "LOL" is THE lamest acronym... ever. Unfortunately, it's still used by 8 year olds. Anyone older than that should be shot for using it.
HA!
Hey!.... I just laughed! Get it!? - dweeb73, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Great....another mouth to feed...
I'm sorry, this will suck for sure...makes me sad really. -
