- metapop, on 12/01/2008, -4/+58Tr2n > TRZ....
That is, unless TRZ has Tron Paul in it. - smileylich, on 12/01/2008, -1/+30Should've called it TROFF
- scooterbaga, on 12/01/2008, -3/+30When did everyone decide Tr2n was a bad name? Or is this a delusion of the author?
- duggtodeath, on 12/01/2008, -5/+28Doeznt matter. Thiz iz ztill going to zuck.
- magneteye, on 12/01/2008, -2/+23Ok, first off I DO want to see a Tron sequel. I saw the original in the theater back in 1982, and I know a new one will disappoint, but my sad, wet appetite wants more anyway. ***** it!
Next, TRZ? WTF is TRZ? It makes me think of TMZ. Paparazzi on light cycles?
Lastly...
Yes I'm old. Old enough to remember when the MCP was just a chess program! - tinkafoo, on 12/01/2008, -1/+17please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good please be good
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+16I guess Tron 2 would be too simple.
- scooterbaga, on 12/01/2008, -1/+13He could be the submitter communicating his opinions about the article...
Naw, that's just crazy talk. - inactive, on 12/01/2008, -2/+14"TRON PAUL: The R3volution"
I'd buy that for a dollar. - craighoxton, on 12/01/2008, -1/+12"Buy 20,000 of TRZ"
- RealmDown, on 12/01/2008, -0/+10no no no no no
( my bit impersonation ) - fatlip, on 12/01/2008, -0/+10a gold-backed dollar, no less!
- themurph2099, on 12/01/2008, -1/+9Calling it TRZ is a bad sign.
- blankoboy, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8TRZ = fail.
It should be "Tron 2.0" if anything or perhaps to a lesser degree "2RON". - pyrorain, on 12/01/2008, -1/+9WIll it be as good as the first one?
- Zoplax, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8TRZ?
Soundsl ike the sound Tron 2.0 would make when it BSOD's. "My name is TRZ......z.z....zzzz........" - DephexTwin, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8You mean Tron™ Beta?
- Lucifugerising, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8Did someone text this title to the producer or something?
It's sounds like something a teenage girl would type. - DephexTwin, on 12/01/2008, -0/+8Finally, a movie about Temple Ramat Zion, the conservative Jewish temple in California! I always said that someone needed to tell their story.
- gamer_013, on 12/01/2008, -0/+790° angles or GTFO!!
- DrakeGTA, on 12/01/2008, -1/+8Or Tron 2.0 :(
- bardo77n, on 12/01/2008, -0/+6Zima guy, is that you?
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+6***** title ever.
Their committee minded attempt at "youngster speak" is laughable. Sounds like DMX' retarded younger brother. - metapop, on 12/01/2008, -0/+6i thought it was a great name. i generally hate marketing crap like "fourthm3al", but tr2n worked really well with that font.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2323/2706014853_3f9 ... - TheWriteGuy, on 12/01/2008, -1/+6***** THE TRZ!
- bossgu, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5nice?
- davincih, on 12/01/2008, -6/+11Can't wait to see this. Really looking forward to it, and the plot sounds awesome.
- drewniverse, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5I don't care what you call it, the only way anyone's going to refer to that movie is "Have you seen 'The New Tron' movie yet?"
or
"Tron 2 is going to be sick! Too bad the name sucks, whatever it is." - shadowman99, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5Despite the fact the title said "TR2N" everyone knew what it meant and said "Tron 2" when discussing the film. It was a creative typesetting choice that some people might find retarded... but the title was easily recognized and associated to the first film.
Purely as a piece of graphic design, I liked the TR2N logo. TRZ done in the same typesetting will not have nearly the same visual impact.
Disney is throwing away the name recognition if they do this (and I have my doubts. It's only one report). Marketing would at least require "Tron 2: TRZ" or something similar.
- MuddyBulldog, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5I never had a problem with TR2N. It was instantly recognizable. Tron 2.0 has already been used and may be confused with the videogame (and anybody who played it would understand why the producers would want to avoid that confusion at all costs). TRZ is unrecognizable and, well, stupid.
- Guitarsenal, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5I hope it doesn't end up being a TRD...
- MacGyver2210, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5Step 1: Announce the possibility of a popular sequel.
Step 2: Give absolutely no detail on the plot, but let people speculate and then steal their more popular ideas for the plot.
Step 3: Produce a movie from the stolen ideas, and let a ***** gossip rag name it.
Step 4: Profit! - myotive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5What about the obvious "Tron 2"?
No...that's be too easy... - johnnysaucepn, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5Done that.
- scooterbaga, on 12/01/2008, -0/+4If it's a programmer going in this time... Won't they be running into versions of themselves as different programs? Oh, and if Flynn has gone bad they better have a damn good reason...
- antistupid, on 12/01/2008, -3/+74 RLZ
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+4I've seen the Comic Con light cycles trailer and it looked really good, but I don't like the TRZ name change.
- scooterbaga, on 12/01/2008, -1/+5Well it doesn't need one, but it's going to get one. It also, in theory, fits nicely with the 'philosophy' of the movie. Remaking the first would be the thing we don't need.
In fact... I could see Disney cranking out a Tron sequel every quarter century or so as a really cool thing. ...Shame I wouldn't be around for Tr4n. - directrix13, on 12/01/2008, -0/+4Only if there are hot chicks in extremely tight glowing clothing.
- BrokenVisage, on 12/01/2008, -0/+4Dugg for 'Paparazzi on light cycles'
- infinigtr, on 12/01/2008, -0/+4Tron Guy will need a new costume!
- seantubridy, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3So is the Z supposed to look like a 2? Even the generic and over used 2.0 would have been better. Even if it was the game title.
- Namco, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3After we paid off our rent-to-own Curtis Mathis television, we rented a Magnavox VHS VCR. We decided against the Betamax format. I know it was a gamble because we weren't sure which format was going to gain popularity and take off. The store also rented movies on pre-recorded VHS and Betamax tapes. I believe our first VHS tape rental was Tron. After we watched Tron, I believe I played some Speedway on the Odyssey 2.
- shimmi147, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3Really, Z is just an N on its side.. plus it looks like a 2
- RavagesOfTime, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3*in Dragon Ball Z announcer's voice*
Stay tuned for the next exciting episode...of TRZ!! - stubear, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3It's probably going to be the type of movie only a teenage girl will want to see so I guess there's no loss there.
- DephexTwin, on 12/01/2008, -1/+4Was that a cry for help?
- Recoil, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3What's wrong with just calling it Tron 2, or even Tron 2.0? TRZ...? What kinda brand recognition suicide is that?
- ametitul, on 12/01/2008, -4/+7nice one i really want to see this
