- settsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8the final "transformations" have gotta be quicker or the *koo-kuh-kwik* will sound funny that slow.
i tested it.
with my mouth.
like you just did. - awa64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's another source for the video. Seems to be working.
http://rapidshare.de/files/10753999/sideswipe.mpeg.html
And tuxfan? I'd say the fact that a Nissan turns into a giant robot is something happening. Something DAMN SWEET. - macofish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I really doubt this is fake, elindiano.
1. the footage doesnt shake while the mask on top of the footage does.
Don't know about that, it looks like most consumer camera footage shot with electronic stabilization.
2. the film stock numbers repeat on the right side of the frame.
???, I'm counting 7:23 to 7:33 on the left and 0665 to 0680.
3. time code and "property of ILM" would be on top of the footage "burned in", not on black bars.
Why? Fits in the letterbox and doesn't cover what your working on. I doubt Dennis Muren wants to see timecode and property of ILM composited over a work in progress.
4. the aspect ratio is wrong, you wouldnt see peg holes on 16x9 footage.
16:9??? Maybe the entire monitor window, but the action safe marks look closer to 4:3
5. the action safe marks are not the correct size
What size should they be? Confused on this one; see reply to #4.
6. sideswipe is not in the movie, and he is not a nissan senta!
Can't debate this one.
Anyway your looking at a movie scheduled for 2007. Do you know what their working on right now? Test shots. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the CG characters aren't fully rigged or texture mapped yet. Bottom line; it's a long way off and there's a ton of work to do. Lighten up. - Technopope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is certainly not from ILM.
For test footage as well as most production work, ILM would have shot the live action with a digital camera. ILM pioneered the use of HDTV cameras for movie work. Video is cheap and fast, film is expensive and time consuming to digitize.
Even if it was originally shot on film, the digitizing process only scans the exposed image area, not the sprocket holes. Why waste scanning resolution on areas that will be cropped?
Finally, the film looks to be a 70mm frame. Almost all movies are shot on 35mm stock and cropped for the 16:9 aspect ratio, 70mm stock has five sprocket holes per frame, not four, and real film doesn't repeat the exact same loop of dirt/hair in the sprocket area like this clip does.
Looks to me like this is someone's demo reel showing off some fairly decent 3D work, although the shadows need work. - Girth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1gonna be so sick
- AndroidIQ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fake, Not ILM footage, Fanboy art.
- AndroidIQ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's fake,
- glucoseboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If Bay is involved, this movie will be loud and stupid.
Ahh well, at least it will look cool. - stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Of course, growing up with Transformers, I want an excellent movie. However, let's not kid ourselves. Let's all think back to the last good movie Michael Bay made.... anyone.... ... *insert cricket chirping sound here* ...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well at least with Micheal Bay you can be guaranteed that stuff is going to be blown up in many different ways!
- TimmyK., on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Michael Bay. Those two words guarantee that the movie will not only be bad, but that it will be one of the worst films ever produced. Every film he makes tops his last as the worst film ever.
- qqcourt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don Murphy denies that this is actual test footage on his blog.
http://www.d13satellite.com/donmurphy/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7815 - StarWarsFever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If they cast Leonard Nimoy for a Megatron/Galvatron voice part, i would seriously crap myself
looks so awesome, i can't wait! - IngisKahn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If this clip is real, I'm glad to see that the retained the scaling effect. For those of you who roll your eyes at this, I'll explain it. Transformers are partly comprised of a rare metal found on Cybertron, Quintessa, and Lithone that is aptly named Cybertronium. The exact method used to create it has been lost, but a large supply still remains on Cybertron and it is believed that there are still machines there capable of producing it. It is a quantum metal, not comprised of the normal mix of protons and neutrons but of a non-standard combination of quarks (it does have 77 electrons in its shell similar to iridium). This metal has the unique property of possessing a link to a pocket of subspace that holds an amount of mass proportional to the mass of the metal. Transformers possess the innate ability to shift their mass to and from this subspace pocket as they transform. This ability is programmed into their transformation cogs. The cog controls all aspects of their transformation be it mechanical or pertaining to shifting mass in and out of subspace including weapons appearing in their hands and Prime's trailer for example.
Sigh, Michael Bay... - Turlas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If they can keep up this kind of work and only make it better & better... I've been a Transformers fan ever since way back in the 80's when they first came to be here in the U.S. I have higher hopes for this movie now after seeing this test footage. Just the only thing that still scares me is that they can still go and "F" it up by making a crappy script then blowing an obscene amount of money on super high paid actors/actresses. What all do you guys & gals think?
- stakk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1tuxfan, its just the video. if you wait for it to load completely and replay if, its works (or at least did for me)
- iKato, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0About Michael Bay, say what you will but the man can direct amazing action sequences.
Not to mention "The Island" was actually more than decent. The guy's growing as a filmmaker.
Just relax. - gamefoo21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh my god... I hope its like the original Transformers... You know the one where the bad guys actually kill good guys... Not that pussy watered down crap they've been spoon feeding us for years. I remember when the series had actual violence and was good to watch. Then the censors raped it, forced it off the air, and made them make it "child friendly".
Its burned into my brain as one of the most evil acts my young mind when Megatron boards the ark and starts laying into the auto bots, there is one survivor and he begs for mercy and Megatron just puts his gun to the poor dudes head and wastes his ass...
Second movie... oh I've been hit lets go back to base to heal... Pfft what the hell kind of crap is that, I wanna see big robots with big guns inflicting massive damage. Not oh look one shot levels a city, but it dents the autobot's armour and knocks him out.
If its got actual violence, actual struggle between good and bad, and some well placed powerful death scene's this movie will rock. If its the water down crap that the reborn series was and every series since then has been... I will die inside... I've been waiting for them to bring back the evil death bringers that Decepticons are, and the self sacrificing hero's the Autobots are.
Either way I'll be seeing this in the theatre... just get the feeling this will be a theatre movie where watching at home will only spoil it. - sgtkillmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0transformers movie? dern bobby!
- DNABeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>> They don't make movies for fans, they make movies for everyone
So that everyone can hate it equally. - Camman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks a lot like that Citroen advertisement where the car like starts break dancing, cool ad though.
- AttroPheed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet *****. It looks more like a transformer than the ones from the citroen commercials. ...if that makes any sense.
- ek3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude, chuck norris for optimus ftw
- Kuth678, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"they better use a subaru!!!"
Couldn't agree more. I'll lend them my diecast smokescreen WRC impreza to use :) - StanrickKubley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, that car was more than meets the eye. Can't wait for this movie.
- cyberdrake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0check this out for more news about the movie www.transformershq.com
- JustinPM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I for one had high hopes for this, until I found out that Michael Bay was on it. I had even less hopes when I found out they wanted to use a different voice then Peter Cullen for Optimus, and no hope after they said shockwave is going to be a helicopter (last I heard). This just in, Michael Bay rapes your memory, just for some quick cash after the bomb that was "The Island".
- Xibby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"one thing that i always thought was funny was the scaling - how can a robot that transforms from and handgun or a radio (megatron or soundwave) change into another robot that transfroms from a jet (starscream) and be the same sized robot? ... should be interesting."
There is lots of stuff like that in Transformers...
"Where did that gun come from?"
"Where did Prime's trailer come from/go to?"
"How does Bulmbee fit inside of Cosmos?"
"How do the Autobots fit inside of Skyfire?"
"How do the Deceptcons fit inside of Astrotrain?"
Simply put, special shrink/enlarge rays are standard equipment for all Transformers. ;-) - DavidS2006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0George Clooney? GEORGE ***** CLOONEY!?!? I want to hear PETER CULLEN!!!! Jesus!! Peter has the MOST charismatic voice for a character I've EVER HEARD! Goddammit! I sent Michael Bay a letter stating how much I was overjoyed that he and Steven Spielberg were doing this movie, which I've only dreamed of for years, and now I find they're ruining the nostalgia by having an unwanted voice for the main characters. I even told him in the letter that the hard-core fans (which comprise the VAST majority of the potential viewership) WON'T FORGIVE voices for Megatron and Prime if they're not Frank Welker and Peter Cullen, respectively. I further hear that they're only having FIVE (yes 5!!!) transformers total in the film! I mean, *****, what else can do they do to ***** it up? Well, they could have them transform into things that they never actually were. Oh wait! Soundwave is already going to transform into a HELICOPTER!!! I was overjoyed to learn of this movie, but now, I am having severe reservations that it will in any goddamned way whatsoever live up to even the basics of what I hoped because of the horrible voice decisions, errant transforming identities, and an ABSOLUTE LACK OF THE VERY CHARACTERS THAT I and OTHER devotees wanted to see, namely the Dinobots, Constructicons, Aerialbots (perhaps) Shockwave, Insecticons, and most of the original Generation 1 suite of Transformers in general!! Jesus...this had better not be the movie they are making.
- cheesmo7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Real or not, that was awesome!
- spamminator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Confirmed as fake:
http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22178 - scootdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gotta post this to google video to see what happens. Think its a fake?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0People, it's Michael Bay! Of course he's going to turn this into a stinker! That's what he does. Give him a concept, he'll give you ***** with explosions....LOTS of explosions.
...eh, I prefer the GO BOTS anyway... - Camman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0shouldve linked this on my first post, but this what I was talking about:
http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/robots/dancing-citroen-transformer-025638.php - electronicmaji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this was a movie made by a fan old as hell two ...3d max
- ever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And some of you actually believe the the robot stuff on www.r50rd.co.uk is REAL? :D Aww come on.. The site's been up for years and it's all nicely done CGI. Great site, though. The writings are worth reading. Funny as hell. Some people are just retarded beyond comprehension when it comes to figuring out what is real and what is not..
- ehmjay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0meh...not going to lie...i was less than impressed. I'm so sick of CGI looking like CGI. We've come so far along and yet you can still tell stuff is CGI. Why is it that the effects in Back To the Future still looks better than half the CGI stuff today (view: Van Helsing)
- Rajio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I call BS
- a99tandem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did they REALLY have to use a Nissan 200SX??? It was noted above as a Sentra Se-R [sentra is the same car, but with 4doors instead of 2], but those didn't wear the Sentra name until 2001 if im not mistaken.
- stenspect, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was expecting something different but that is still pretty cool.
- Jack9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool footage. +digg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This one is very nice! They should hire the guys that made this

(rightclick-download as) - kevmasterv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It looks like a fan film made to look like an ILM clip. Also, the new line of Transformer Alternator toys are licenced by Ford and based on the newest 2005 mustang model. That model looks like it’s a 98 mustang. What do you think?
- jcoopsicle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0its not ilm footage. i assure you.
- panic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Amazing.. George Clooney would be a great voice for Optimus Prime.. maybe with some special effects to make him sound more computery, but he does have a good deep voice for that role.
- ezweave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's an older Nissan Sentra SE-R, I think. It is definitely a Nissan.
- TomJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's about time this happened.
- bcnewman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"is it me or is he not transforming fast enough?"
... and all the other posts like it, it's a ***** test!!! Relax!!! - elindiano, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ITS FAKE.
