- Racerx52, on 10/21/2007, -2/+76I entered the movie expecting to be disappointed beyond belief. I was fooled.
Transformers kicked immense levels of ass. - mbaguy4000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+56While the special effects were great, hearing Peter Cullen's voice again is what done it for me.
- RadicalEdward, on 10/11/2007, -6/+44I just got back from seeing the transformers movie. At first i thought it would be friggin lame, but aside from a few brief cheesy scenes i thought it was pretty damn cool. I see a lot of movies and honestly i've gotta say it's the best movie i've seen in a long time. It would have been better if it was an R rated version.
ROBOT LOVE! - shadekeiko, on 10/11/2007, -1/+32That movie was immensely entertaining. The entire theatre that I was in was cheering and just having a good time. It was incredible. The special effects were amazing - they looked real despite the fact that the actual circumstances were obviously fantastical in nature. I smell an Oscar...
- CurlyHayami, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27Dude-I was absolutely blown away by how real they looked-in the closeups and everything-so NICELY done..ILM outdid themselves-best SFX since Sith.
- YourTechSupport, on 10/21/2007, -1/+28Well. You're supposed to be able to fill in the holes yourself.
1. Bumblebee was an advanced scout, had apparently been there long enough to find the clues to the allspark and know that Ladiesman217 (lol) had them. So he put himself in a position to protect sam and find out what he could.
2. Megatron didn't need to hide himself, he was there to kick ass, chew humans, and conquer the universe. He doesn't have to transform into anything.
3. The movie had so many plain fun and funny moments I have trouble picking out a favorite.
4. If you want a 'true to canon-fodder' movie, go watch the old 80s cartoon version. - Maynza, on 10/21/2007, -2/+29I thought the movie was ***** awesome... I mean it was just so ***** cool I can't express how cool without saying *****.
And to answer the title, yes. - Murphious, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21Great article but a stupid headline..
It should have read something like "Transfomers: Inside the special effects with popular mechanics" - Haon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18I just got back from seeing it and I must say I was impressed. Best effects, maybe. The camera was all over the place sometimes making it hard to see though.
- eatsushi, on 10/21/2007, -2/+18This movie actually made me sit up for the first time during some fight scenes and even the transforming. I felt like a little kid again!
- MackPrime, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17it really does look like they are in the room or on the street. you'd think it was far more advanced "animatronics" than CGI.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13So,
Megan Fox = unrealistic
Giant space robots = ? - Zanick, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16As soon as the head of Sector 7 came out, did anyone else yell out, "Don't ***** with the Jesus?"
- crushfan, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14"More than meets the eye"?
- jrak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10More like best Robot acting ever...
- djphatjive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10I've seen it twice already. Looking forward to seeing it 2 more times at least. Can't wait until 2 and 3, seeing that they signed on to do 2 and 3 already. Well everyone but Bay. So who knows about him, Let Spielburg direct one.
- rustybones, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I reckon these "special fx" are way more kick arse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akNJ6S2UqsE
- 00monkey, on 10/21/2007, -1/+9megan fox is what did it for me :P ,/...
- Jawsome, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Awesome movie
- htdub, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Great summer movie.
- mikemil828, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6They have to make a few choices on how much of the more retarded stuff in the Transformers canon to allow in the movie. Think about it, don't you think that a robot about as big as any other transformer, is somehow able to shrink himself so that other decepticons can hold him like a pistol, totally ignoring the law of conservation of mass, might make a few audience members go, wtf? Besides, a jet is a lot cooler than a pistol anyday of the week.
- hockey, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8No offense but having it 'R' rated would not have fit with the spirit of the Transformers. Remember this is based on a cartoon from the 80's that we watched as kids. Why turn it into an 'R' rated flick when it's original premise is a cartoon show? Not everything has to be "mature" these days.
My 2 cents. - motivatedguy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7That's how I felt as well. When I left the theatre I want to march over to Toy's R Us and buy some transformers but it was after 11pm!!
- Patmos, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I'm just glad Cullen's and Hugo's first dialogue didn't start out "Mr. Anderson".
- DryMaltExtract, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9What special effects? I couldn't see ***** because the camera was always zoomed way in, shaking around, or flying past the action that I wanted to see. Someone teach this stupid ***** to direct.
- mdavis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5You know what-I noticed the same thing! I thought it was my projector and it was driving me mad...
- shadekeiko, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8Pity you can't even spell "Michael."
- troglodytejb, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Dude, don't forget the Australian chick...
Hot, check.
Programmer/1337 haxx0r, check.
Australian accent, check.
I'd put her at a tie with Megan Fox, and Megan Fox is just about the hottest hottie to hit the big screen in a long time... - bigtizzle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I think your first hint that it's a visual effect is the fact that they are GIANT ROBOTS TRANSFORMING INTO CARS AND BATTLING EACH OTHER.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I'm not bashing you or anything - but I'm just wondering what you're comparing the CGI in this film to
oh and
"extremely overexaggerated and overanimated to the point of idiocy in every single action"
I think that can be used to sum up the animation of the cartoon as well. - bigtizzle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5They brought the cube to the city so that they could show giant robots smashing through buildings. What more reason do you need? :)
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5So you're one of the few who walked in expecting an Oscar-award winning epic, rather than a entertaining summer flick about gigantic robots from space.
- djphatjive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Yea because Megatron transforming into a little tiny Gun would have made it totally better and more real. Go back to watching your cartoons you moron.
- SpaceParanoids, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I'd rather see Jackson or Cameron.
- SlantyEyes, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6True, but Megan Fox is so hot that a Rated R movie may provoke a nude scene...
- polyGone, on 10/11/2007, -1/+510,000 individually modeled parts. Wow. I am starting all my advanced classes at school. I couldn't imagine the time it would take to create something like that.
- TwiztOG43, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5thats what i thought too! damn that movie was badass!!!! great story line, except for the last part. why did they decide to bring the cube to the city and risk human life?
but other than that damn, i prolly will see it again. but hard to believe how long all that animation took to create WOW!!! - aliengoods, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4- Not everything has to be "mature" these days.
I'll agree and add that not everything has to be PG-13. That's why most movies are pulling in dick. Most aren't really kids movies but they try to fit them into that nitch anyhow. Can you imagine how 300 would have been with a PG-13 rating? Or look at some greats from the past. Animal House, Stripes, or Aliens with PG-13 ratings? Sometimes you just need the characters to say '*****' to make it a believable scene. - SenorCardgage74, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Which of course is how a Camaro becomes an 80 foot tall robot the size of a small building.
- steveoco, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Is it just an American thing that people clap and cheer etc during the movie? I read on aintitcool and stuff that people are always clapping and stuff. That personally takes me out of the movie when someone behind me cheers or claps. I don't experience it often where I am, and most people get told to shoosh.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I think you need to go back and watch the cartoons again, sure they had more back story - but come one Megatron transformed into a gun, you can't tell me that would translate to film well
Try compressing an entire series into a 2.5 hour screenplay without leaving half of your audience scratching their heads or bored. - russelbutt, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6best.. everything.. ever...
'til all are one' - YourTechSupport, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I didn't. But thanks for reminding me where I knew that guy from.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5You can blame VW for not allowing Bumblebee to be a Beetle, I don't know what the hell their problem was.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Haha, that's precisely what Mattel wants you guys to do.. works pretty well I guess. The movie was meant as a marketing tool to generate new sales of the transformers brand.. and it looks like an awesome film that I definitely will see, even though I didn't watch or play with the product as a kid.
- Sedjet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Michael bay didn't want Megatron be a gun because that meant he would be size changing and Bay didn't want any size changing transformers.
- arrrrgh, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8Buried for flame-bait title. "Best special effects ever?" Please.
- berzerk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I thought the closeups ruined it on a few parts especially during some of the fight scenes.
- isewise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I really enjoyed the movie, but I know what you mean when the camera is too close during the fight scenes. You can't see all the action, the camera is too zoomed in and you only see a small portion of this huge fight. I'm no director but, I think the close shots keep the intensity up, makes you feel like the robots are fighting inches away from your nose.
- pbaker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Who honestly would digg this comment down? "Oops, my bad" - optimus prime. the acting of all of the federal agents was horrible, it felt like MIB was in charge of the government. This was made to make
