- scififan9009, on 03/29/2008, -1/+85A friend who's a huge Transformers nerd found it interesting that they killed off Jazz in the first movie. Apparently in the long-running TV cartoon Jazz was one of the very last Transformers left alive. Can anyone else confirm that?
- dinobot, on 03/29/2008, -0/+49You are right, he survived thru the movie (thanks to Daniel Witwicky - blegh) and then survived thru Transformers: 2010.
I'm just glad they're bringing Barricade back for the sequel, I just find it weird since they actually depict his death in the novelization of the movie -- kinda like Ian Malcolm being alive in The Lost World, after he was seemingly killed in Jurassic Park (at least novel-wise)- joegibes, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5...but Jurassic Park was a novel before the movie (not sure if it's better than the movie, but they're good for different reasons). Unless you mean a novelization of the movie.
- Goblin, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5At the end of the original Jurassic Park novel Malcolm seems to die (I think in the helicopter, but I haven't read it in a few years), but is then mystically alive in the second novel, The Lost World. The difference in who lives and dies between the novel and the movie are almost too many to recount.
- NenDaiKi, on 03/29/2008, -0/+6Malcolm doesn't actually "seem" to die. Ian Malcolm DEFINITIVELY dies in Jurassic Park, that was as it was intended. Then the movie changed it, was an enormous success, and Ian was artificially resurrected for the novel version of The Lost World, with only a slight nod to the miracles of modern medicine as an explanation.
It was just a necessity for making a novel of the sequel, but on that note what wasn't a necessity was Hammond. Hammond was the other main character in the novel that got killed off. There were other minor differences, but those two surviving the movie was a huge difference. The only other difference in deaths I can think of is that the asian scientist was a much bigger part in the book and ended up getting killed by a raptor.- Anubis2051, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4there was the tour guide character who got replaced with the lawyer in the movie, since the lawyer in the book was a total badass, but was a complete wuss in the movie.
- dinobot, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4Yeah, and then he dies of dysentery between Jurassic Park and The Lost Worlds, that sucked balls
Also, I wish they had included Richard Levine in the movie, all the talk about the prions and behaviors was far more interesting than a T-Rex rampaging thru the city. I also hate the fact that they combined Kelly and Arby into Malcom's daughter-of-sorts
- robbh66, on 03/29/2008, -2/+14I wish they'd killed off Michael Bay instead :/
- joegibes, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5...but Jurassic Park was a novel before the movie (not sure if it's better than the movie, but they're good for different reasons). Unless you mean a novelization of the movie.
- Ajajadude, on 03/29/2008, -0/+18Jazz just isn't the same without Scatman Crothers doing the voice acting...it kind of makes me glad they killed him off because I just can't stand hearing any other voice.
- ApokalypseNow, on 03/29/2008, -0/+11It was weird enough not having Peter Cullen do Ironhide's voice in addition to Prime's.
- Ajajadude, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5I forgot about that! That was another thing that I had a hard time getting over: Ironhide sounding like some British prick.
- dinobot, on 03/29/2008, -0/+6Better than going 'But Prahme! I want to bust some deceptichops'
- cwgannon, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5"Listen, Ironhide. We don't have enough energon to power a full-scale assault."
Nostalgia forces me to revisit that movie biannually.
- cwgannon, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5"Listen, Ironhide. We don't have enough energon to power a full-scale assault."
- gcnaddict, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5It's funny because I thought Prime sounded a lot like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh when I first saw Transformers (I just castrated myself on Digg for saying that).
Then I checked and found out that Cullen was the voice actor for Eeyore.

- effervescence, on 03/29/2008, -0/+11I always felt that Jazz should have taken Bumblebee's place. A mute Jazz who talked with music would have been a great tribute to G1, plus the voiceless Jazz in memory of Scatman Crothers would have been gold. Also, that joke at the beginning ("No you're not getting a Porche, haha!") would have had an extra layer.
And then, to round out the team, throw Arcee on there, and kill Ironhide instead of Jazz. Gives you a good opportunity for the line "There's a thin line between being a hero and being a memory."
- ApokalypseNow, on 03/29/2008, -0/+11It was weird enough not having Peter Cullen do Ironhide's voice in addition to Prime's.
- Dchandaman, on 03/29/2008, -14/+2So I find the movie to be pretty racist because Jazz was the only autobot who died in the whole movie. WTF....
- baldgye, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4yeah but that's just coz ur a prick
- apochcrypha, on 03/29/2008, -6/+31If Megan Fox returns and the movie features cars transforming into robots, then fighting each other, I'll be there.
- ewsherm, on 03/29/2008, -2/+9way to copy and paste someone else's comment...

- ewsherm, on 03/29/2008, -2/+9way to copy and paste someone else's comment...
- rmeddy, on 03/29/2008, -1/+21He died, because he was the black guy.
- greenamp, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3He was killed off rather quickly in the Transformers comics that came back out a few years back. He was shown in two parts hanging from a pole. Sad.
- Fl4sh, on 03/30/2008, -1/+1Well in the comics that mattered he survived!
- dinobot, on 03/29/2008, -0/+49You are right, he survived thru the movie (thanks to Daniel Witwicky - blegh) and then survived thru Transformers: 2010.
- frooo, on 03/29/2008, -49/+30Michael Bay - Please do not ***** this up again. Please. I beg of you.
- duggtodeath, on 03/29/2008, -3/+11Take a look at his track record: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/michael_ba ...
- ucdbunny, on 03/29/2008, -0/+9I looked, I dont see anything good
- NightVortez, on 03/29/2008, -7/+1Not defending Bay or anything but rottentomatoes is a horrible source for reviews.
- SparkTR, on 03/29/2008, -0/+9Rottentomatoes just averages the score of the existing reviews, it doesn't actually review the movies.
- duggtodeath, on 03/31/2008, -0/+1RT average ratings from critics across the country.
- CrimsonBlur, on 03/29/2008, -18/+45Again? I thought the first movie was actually pretty good...
- mrdoyle, on 03/29/2008, -29/+14are you serious? transformers is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. the transformers where in the movie just so they could spend the fx budget on something.
- mrdoyle, on 03/29/2008, -15/+6to all you digging me down, just try and list the redeeming qualities of this movie without mentioning how hot that snotty little bitch is
- obrysii, on 03/29/2008, -2/+8Optimus Prime.
- mrdoyle, on 03/29/2008, -10/+3oh you mean the hack-knee half assed version of optimus prime, who is so desperate (in such a childlike manner) to be accepted by 15 year old's all across America. buy me buy me!
- Puppyfam, on 03/29/2008, -1/+6Explosions. Lots of explosions.
- darkmotion, on 03/29/2008, -2/+8Probably the most amazing compositing feat in film today.
- bagboyrebel, on 03/29/2008, -1/+9What part of "giant transforming robots" don't you understand!
- cwgannon, on 03/29/2008, -1/+2The Transformers have become mech tanks! WOOT!!!
You cats have terrible taste. - zStunna, on 03/29/2008, -2/+02006 Camaro concept.
Marketing tool or not, that car is awesome.
- flangepiece, on 03/29/2008, -11/+5Too many damn marketing teams polluting digg? Anyone who thinks that ***** CGI Transformers bollocks had any merits whatsoever should have their internet license revoked. I think I managed to watch 10 minutes of it before leaving in disgust.
- punkcat, on 03/29/2008, -5/+2how dare you post negative comments to the CRIMSON BLUR!
digg's first super hero.
- mrdoyle, on 03/29/2008, -15/+6to all you digging me down, just try and list the redeeming qualities of this movie without mentioning how hot that snotty little bitch is
- CATSCEO, on 03/29/2008, -15/+4Agreed.
- ucg1, on 03/29/2008, -10/+8Transformers was ***** terrible. It had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
And I say this as a childhood fan of the cartoon series and toys.- Darksoul, on 03/29/2008, -3/+5It had alot more redeeming quality's then you do.
- ucg1, on 03/31/2008, -0/+1Oh snap!
- Darksoul, on 03/29/2008, -3/+5It had alot more redeeming quality's then you do.
- TobiasParker, on 03/29/2008, -5/+6My response to this movie:
No,no,no,no,no,no,no,no
- mrdoyle, on 03/29/2008, -29/+14are you serious? transformers is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. the transformers where in the movie just so they could spend the fx budget on something.
- lobsterxcore, on 03/29/2008, -17/+10Seconded. Goddamn that movie blew ass.
- 5urr3al5am, on 03/29/2008, -5/+3I couldn't wait till the1st one was done.. it was SOOO bad...
- nkwebb, on 03/29/2008, -2/+10What, you didn't enjoy two hours of propaganda and product placements?
- jisrael, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2If you didn't like the first one for the half-mast inducing Fox, the guns, the robots and a government conspiracy all brought together under a thin veil of a plot, I wouldn't count on enjoying the second one. Generally cinematic standards don't go up as a franchise moves along...
- duggtodeath, on 03/29/2008, -3/+11Take a look at his track record: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/michael_ba ...
- MookiBlaylock, on 03/29/2008, -12/+37I am excited
- Vodka2389, on 03/29/2008, -12/+5You should be more excited for the day your balls drop. (because this crap is for stupid little kids)
- Encablossa, on 03/29/2008, -5/+2You're being dugg down by marketers, either that or digg is made up of 15 year olds.
- Vodka2389, on 03/29/2008, -12/+5You should be more excited for the day your balls drop. (because this crap is for stupid little kids)
- INDOAZZ, on 03/29/2008, -3/+37More than meets the eye. This movie will be better than the first. I really hope they bring in the Constructacons that form DEVASTATOR!
check out this awesome commercial. That kids eyes are sooooo cool!!
http://www.retrojunk.com/details_commercial/432/- Kenard, on 03/29/2008, -10/+4Um, you do realize that Devastator was in the first movie right? It was the tank.
- Ajajadude, on 03/29/2008, -0/+6I think he means the REAL Devastator.
- ciano, on 03/29/2008, -0/+7He was called Devastator in the subtitles, but that was a mistake. In all other materials, including the game and the toys, the tank decepticon was called by his proper name, Brawl.
- effervescence, on 03/29/2008, -0/+6The tank was officially Brawl. His subtitle was an error. Sadly, between that and the fact that we already had one Constructicon name used (Bonecrusher) means we're probably not gonna see the whole team. And Brawl similarly nixes the Combaticons. So I guess we're left with the Stunticons vs the Arialbots for our giant movie battle.
- INDOAZZ, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3Insecticons would be another possibility.
http://www.noolmusic.com/videos/transformers_toys_ ...
- INDOAZZ, on 03/29/2008, -0/+3Insecticons would be another possibility.
- feoren, on 03/29/2008, -4/+4Two hours of a bunch of baboons ***** on each other would be better than the first movie, so it shouldn't be hard. I cannot believe anybody saw that movie and didn't leave the theater yelling in anger at spending ticket prices and 2 hours to have their intelligence insulted and their ears raped with unbelievably terrible writing.
- Kenard, on 03/29/2008, -10/+4Um, you do realize that Devastator was in the first movie right? It was the tank.
- peterandbeer, on 03/29/2008, -1/+23Yeah Jazz was one of the last left alive, but I do have some hope for this movie I mean you can't complain that they got the original voice of Optimus Prime, if they didn't do that then I would question every aspect of what they were doing. But since they knew to do that then I'm not worrying to much
- Ajajadude, on 03/29/2008, -0/+11What I don't understand is how they could get Frank Welker (Megatron in the cartoon) to do Megatron's voice in the game but couldn't get him to do the voice in the movie. It would've made that last battle in the movie that much more epic.
- Kenard, on 03/29/2008, -0/+7it's not that they couldn't get him. They didn't want him.
- RobotLeAwesome, on 03/29/2008, -7/+0Honestly? didn't care - Optimus has a way more memorable voice.
- Ajajadude, on 03/29/2008, -0/+7Really? That's pretty, well, retarded.
- Baku, on 03/29/2008, -2/+5And to be fair I thought Hugo Weaving did a great job
- theMADone, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5yeh hugo weaving did ok as long as you can put aside hes ALWAYS agent smith. (except in prucilla queen of the desert) Frank Welker IS Megatron god damn it
- bagboyrebel, on 03/29/2008, -1/+2what about Elrond?
- theMADone, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5yeh hugo weaving did ok as long as you can put aside hes ALWAYS agent smith. (except in prucilla queen of the desert) Frank Welker IS Megatron god damn it
- amanilaenvelope, on 03/29/2008, -1/+5if they couldn't get Frank weller why couldnt they get the next best thing like the guy who voiced megatron in the best wars series
- Kenard, on 03/29/2008, -0/+7it's not that they couldn't get him. They didn't want him.
- Hobbes24, on 03/29/2008, -2/+5come on man, reply button
- Ajajadude, on 03/29/2008, -0/+11What I don't understand is how they could get Frank Welker (Megatron in the cartoon) to do Megatron's voice in the game but couldn't get him to do the voice in the movie. It would've made that last battle in the movie that much more epic.
- RobotDan, on 03/29/2008, -3/+6I'm still wondering why Barricade wussed out of the final battle in the movie creating a large plot hole, but Oh well. And about Jazz, i forgot where i heard it or if i read it or whatever, but I believe they are going to "reformat" him in some way into another vehicle.
I do hope they bring in some Dodge cars. I would love to see a Viper.- Ajajadude, on 03/29/2008, -0/+17Maybe they'll reformat him into what he actually is: a Porsche. Not some damned prettied-upped Pontiac.
- dinobot, on 03/29/2008, -1/+3They depict Barricade's death in the novelization, he gets smashed to bits by Optimus Prime after he swings him at a highway pillar, shortly after Optimus had decapitated Bonecrusher.
"There followed a flurry of furious action that ended only when Optimus flipped the machine clinging to him against a steel-and-cement freeway pillar. The impact cracked and bent the column. It did worse to Barricade, who lay twisted and unmoving."- punkcat, on 03/29/2008, -4/+0nice writing style, "then some cool ***** happened and the guy was dead, on to the next chapter..."
- gambit2121, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2I doubt we'll be seeing any Dodge or Porsche vehicles, GM has pretty much got this one covered.
- bossm4n, on 03/29/2008, -8/+166If Megan Fox returns and the movie features cars transforming into robots, then fighting each other, I'll be there.
- thedragon4453, on 03/29/2008, -0/+14Megan Fox could just sit and read literature in the dentists office and I'd be there.
- cwgannon, on 03/29/2008, -1/+5That's fine. But do you really need to say ***** like that? You're just going to lower the ***** bar for the rest of us.
- Aensland, on 03/29/2008, -1/+2This is a surprise?
- bossm4n, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2It was a bit tongue-in-cheek. And after the first one, if you're expecting the bar to be raised by that much, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment. I wasn't expecting an Oscar-worthy film the first time around, but I thought it was a very entertaining popcorn/action flick.
- Fanrir, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2http://www.fhmonline.com/girls_girls_of_fhm_articl ...
- GrantTLC, on 03/29/2008, -3/+3Then you deserve everything you get for allowing Hollywood to profit from selling the same tired old formula of bad-writing, autistic directing, 1-d characters, over-the-top effects and gratuituous jerk-off material for adolescents. Enjoy Soulless Sequel 7 when it comes out.
- bossm4n, on 03/29/2008, -2/+2Relax. Don't be so damn dramatic. This is the Transformers we're talking about, not Shakespeare. I still expect them to improve on their last effort, but I'm realistic that people will bitch and whine regardless of the final product. You can't make everyone happy and there are some people you can never please. I'm typically tough on Hollywood as well, but you have to realize that the movie industry continues to separate into two distinct groups. One is aimed at purely entertaining, money-making, popcorn flicks and the other attempting to produce more story driven, character based films that now mainly come from smaller studios (which have mostly been snatched up by larger studios). Transformers obviously falls into the first group.
- GrantTLC, on 03/29/2008, -1/+1I'm really starting to hate that phrase: 'Popcorn flick'. Where did this phrase come from? And how did lots of reviews of Transformers all seem to use it as a kind of magical talisman to ward off the critics? Oh, well, there's no point giving this film a good drubbing, it's just a dumb Popcorn flick and in that narrow remit it excels" That's like saying "Oh, that gourmet cuisine actually tastes of cow *****, but what fine cow ***** it is! Someone get me a bigger fork!"
I'll be straight with you - I'm a fan of the franchise. i have been for many years, and have seen and loved more changes and reboots and new product lines than in perhaps any other franchise on the planet (I even love Beast Machines!); I was terrified when the film was announced - the possibilty for a train wreck was huge, and a train wreck was exactly what we got. Poor script, terrible characterisation (Megatron got, what, five lines?), a camera that moved constantly and effects that were so confusing it was hard to tell who was fighting who...but this does $600 mil and gets a sequel? A transformer ***** on a human is funny?
I guess what bothers me most is that audiences will happily sit there and drink it all in. They don't need plots. They don't need to care about the characters. They just need shiny shiny effects, lots of fast action and explosions and enough T&A to give them a boner and they'll empty their wallets like the slack-jawed lobotomites. Hollwood in a Nutsack. :(

- Enterpolics, on 04/06/2008, -1/+0You guys are way off and do not sound like true Transformers fans. That is a bad, but I can disagree with the need to have Megan Fox back, because she added to my enjoyment. But Transformers is not secondary.
As far as Shia, all I have to say is Evan Stevens is getting even and making that break. His Oscar is on its way...just wait and see.

- superjunaid, on 03/29/2008, -12/+6Wow this is pretty cool! This looks like a Saleen Mustang S281 RF probably the SuperCharged version or the S281 simply from the looks of the front-end and the classic rear-end bumper/spoiler combo. Ford is definitely putting out their cars and suvs in all the new movies to gain traction. So far this will be 4th movie to show-off the Might Mustang.
1st. Transformers
2nd. I Am Legend (intro scene, and trailer)
3rd. Knight Rider (pilot movie/plus more to come!)
4th. Transformers 2
It might also show up in other movies, but these are the ones I noticed so far.
Awesome pictures btw! Definitely loved the movie.- PimpinOnWelfare, on 03/29/2008, -1/+11buried for showing enthusiasm towards another episode of knight rider

- Kronos6948, on 03/29/2008, -0/+5True, it was Frenzy...but it was originally supposed to be Soundwave..
Shockwave was the one eyed laser gun from the original cartoon, and was not featured in the film or even in consideration to be in it.- amanilaenvelope, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2Oops sorry bout that, meant soundwave

"Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox [sic] and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way"
Sounds good to me - but I'll wait awhile before I believe what I read on IMDB. Bay has a habit of keeping a lid on his storylines.- flangepiece, on 03/29/2008, -0/+17By "keeping a lid on his storylines" are you referring to the toilet lid?
- NenDaiKi, on 03/29/2008, -0/+2It may be childishly insulting a director just for the sake of jumping on the hate bandwagon, but that was at least funny.
- sonicularulus, on 03/29/2008, -1/+3"has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox [sic] and revives him using his own spark"
makes Skorpinox sound really gay... - cwgannon, on 03/29/2008, -2/+3Wow. I'm pretty sure I saw all that happen in the first ***** movie they drew.
So, is Megatron going to float around, discarded, in space until he runs into Unicron who will give him a new body and troops? Because if so, lame. If not, it will probably still be lame.
I vow to spend $0 on this movie.

- Fl4sh, on 03/30/2008, -1/+1They dropped the Decpticons off where their undersea base was in the original cartoon. Some how he will be alive and if he isn't Galvatron or Thunderwig should take over. And if you don't know Thunderwig go read the original Comics.

- JayKeaton, on 03/29/2008, -12/+9I second that. If Bay directs this it will just be moar of the same, and the first one was moar than enough thank you.

- SpectreFire, on 03/29/2008, -0/+15Yeah, that was just god awful. I remember one part where the camera was just zoomed in on a Panasonic SD card for like half a minute. Ugh. If you're gonna do product placements, for the love of god make it subtle. Don't be all "OH MY GODZ! NIKE BRAND LOGO! LOOK AT IT!"

- Enterpolics, on 04/06/2008, -1/+0In order for the cost of the movie to be cut down, ad placements allowed them to get the funding they needed to make a CGI film more realistic. So as long as I see ad placements, my only presumption will be they spent good money on the CGI.

- ucdbunny, on 03/29/2008, -14/+7Wow if Michael Bay directs this all we'll see again are just flashes of the robots, explosions, 20+ year olds pretending to be slutty really smart high schoolers. I admire Bay's fortune for making big bang movies, but he really should leave childhood favorites alone.
- Darksoul, on 03/29/2008, -2/+2Oh seriously grow up and go to hell getting really sick of morons like you don't like the movies guess what no one is forcing you to go and see them.
- cwgannon, on 03/29/2008, -2/+4Aww, sad. I don't think that was an appropriate response. He's well in the right to say as he wishes, especially if it was a childhood favorite of his. What if I were to ***** all over Pokemon? Wouldn't that hurt your feelings, too?

- wolfboy2883, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1Are you kidding me? The writing is better than many shows for adults! ...and the characters had a lot more depth. You only care about a handful of G1 characters, the rest just sort of exist. Beast Wars has depth to their characters.

I even had a thought before, that time will come someone would make the movie and I was amazed someone did. Then ,after I together with my 3 collegues watched the movie Tranformers, I told them Part 2 will be made soon I think... and now....sequel 2 is coming soon. =) You know, I was sad when Jazz died. =( Who would want a good guy die? But over all I love the movie and the special effects!

No wait for the second movie or if you don't want to don't ***** speak.- cwgannon, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4Erm, way to be a ***** caveman about it, asshole.
Here's some stream-of-consciousness: The Transformers are now mech tanks. Editing was done by a human being with ADD. Ironhide (though it could have been any Autobot) asks if he should neutralize some chap's parents (inconsistent with everything in the series, ever), just for a cheap laugh. The movie has so many advertisements I should have been paid to watch it. The visual effects were appealing only if you salivate at labyrinthine, stainless-steel, alien structures wrestling in indiscernible clumps on the ground. The budget for the script was more than likely cut to make more explosions.
Those are just from an average movie-goer's point of view, so far as I can tell.
As a fan of the series, though: There's no Peter Cullen (in the first one). The guy that does Megatron's voice isn't there. And here's the topper: The Transformers play second fiddle to the so-well-acted-and-developed humans. It's like going to a Batman movie but having the story focus on Bruce Wayne. WTF?
Anyway, agree to disagree. But unquench your asscheeks, at least because you're going to pop a blood vessel in your forehead if you keep this ***** up.- Enterpolics, on 04/06/2008, -0/+1You guys make a great point between the two of you. But the ad is needed to give you the special effects. It cost to put ideas to screen like that. As far as the movie sucking it make it more realistic as far as melding the fiction into reality. So I would give it a break and see it for what it is, and that is a new adaptation giving live actors and CGI animators a job and us the pure entertainment, still exposing us to imagination and possibility. May I add that the philosophy behind this film is so thick with ideas and thoughts that if you pealed away all of the film special effects you will get a decent film with decent ideas that will one day transcend into actual thoughts of the human population
Darksoul I could not have said it any better.

- GrantTLC, on 03/29/2008, -0/+4I watch plenty of movies and agree with Yellowfish. Transformers was *****; I honestly have no idea how it made the money it did. Oh wait...Megan 'Bland-as-A4' Fox opened a car bonnet, and every adolescent within 4 miles of the screen creamed in their pants.
- yellowfish04, on 03/30/2008, -1/+0I watch movies, but I try to stay away from obvious pieces of *****. Unfortunately, Transformers wasn't too obvious right away.
