- scotland87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Great News! Wouldn't have thought it possible to create "Porno" as a mainstream film, largely because of the content and scenes described in the book.
Hopefully Boyle will do as good a job as he done with "Trainspotting" and give us all another great scottish film!- DiggFight, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14If it's not Scottish, it's CRAP!
- Anrkist, on 10/12/2007, -12/+10It's ***** being Scottish.. we're the lowest of the low... ect.
- Misaiato, on 10/12/2007, -29/+1Porno was an awesome book - for those of you that haven't read it - Ewan is gonna ***** everyone over again!
- evanfrey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10@Misaiato Thanks for being a ***** sucker.
- Misaiato, on 10/12/2007, -17/+1@evanfrey - I'm Scottish. You're welcome.
- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I am stationed in Japan. Remind me to spoil the next Miyazaki film for this *****.
- oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2"Ewan is gonna ***** everyone over again!"
Nah, Sick Boy was my favorite this time... and Spud is hilarious, i was glad there was more of him in Porno. - robotplague, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Honestly, the best news I've heard in a LONG time. Fantastic, one of my all time favorites (like a lot of others).
- The_Wallbanger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+66"Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a ***** big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of ***** fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the ***** you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing ***** junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, ***** up brats you spawned to replace yourself.
Choose your future.
Choose life."- earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29"But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?"
- flashboy131, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21"Thank you, your honor. With God's help I'll conquer this terrible affliction."
- imamessy1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"...One bottle of Valium, which I've already procured from my mother. Who is, in her own domestic and socially acceptable way, also a drug addict."
Overdose scene with Lou Reed's "Perfect Day," in the background is probably one of my favorite movie moments (but Transformer is also one of my favorite albums, so go figure). I almost want to hear the soundtrack as much as see the movie, but I don't know if they'd be more modern or just stick with mid-90s brit-rock, a few post-punk songs, and electronic numbers. - zip000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What I thought was interesting was that that quote comes at the end of the movie, whereas it is somewhere in the middle of the book.
The movie had a little uplift at the end - the book...not so much. - shaun01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you realy had to go that far?
- earthtoandy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I am guessing it will be based off the novel sequel, Porno.
good news. One of my favorite movies ever with an incredible cast
"In a thousand years, there will be no men and women, just wankers, and that's fine by me."- Jokermx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Yes, I'm pretty sure it will be based on that book.
I haven't read it yet, but I've heard that it isn't as good as Trainspotting.
Anyways, this made my day. - AllnightChemist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I'm guessing neither of you read the article.
- Jokermx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Yes, I'm pretty sure it will be based on that book.
- silverchrysalis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3thank God. i can now die happy.
- Conwaysb0718, on 10/12/2007, -0/+45don't you want to see the movie first?
- CosmicSprawl, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1I dont know if I believe it.
- dorxincandeland, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Mother of God!
- gormenghast, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Lovely news!
- Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Trainspotting is a film you just HAVE to see, you haven't lived till you've seen that film.
Although i really dislike the dead baby crawling on the ceiling scene, freaked me out the first time i saw it (i was about 12ish). Hope the sequel is as good as the original.- Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17The world's ***** bathroom didn't creep you out?
- Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Nope. The toilets shown in the film are pretty much like most public toilets in the uk, hence the reason i never use them.
- Ryan83, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8
The scene where he dives into the most rancid toilet in the universe in order to reclaim his opiate suppository is the most convincing reason for never trying heroin. I puked a little in my mouth and realized that if it had been a cigarette I could smoke and the toilet less gross, I could have been there myself. I am an unashamed member of the drug subculture until the police show up, but I would still never get addicted to heroin. People in progressive politics who tolerate most things should probably watch this movie and realize that it could only have been produced by people who have been there themselves.- manamizer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I actually think this scene is ripped off of a Thomas Pynchon book. In Gravity's Rainbow a character dives into a toilet in much the same way. Could be two people having the same idea independently though.
- treecha02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The article really made it seem like Ewan McGregor wouldn't be a part of it. It says "As recently as last week the star was reported to have said: 'They can go ahead and do it if they want, but it will be without me on board.' " The only part that says he might be involved is that Boyle "indicated" that McGregor would be involved.
The movie wouldn't be any good without him.
It also says Boyle wants to wait til the actors are in their 40's which would still be a while. This seems premature to get excited about.- creep303, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1That's easily only about 3 or 4 years at most.
Edit: wow, McGregor is a LOT younger than I thought. - martin993, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4They are gonna have to go a ***** of a long way to top Trainspotting. It has, in my opinion, the greatest opening ten/twenty minutes of any film ever. Classic film. Great soundtrack, too. One of those movies that just outright OWNS any song it uses.
I'm British so I've said this many, many times: Thank ***** for Danny Boyle. Richard Curtis and Hugh Grant can make whatever ***** they want as long as this man is around level things up just a little bit.
And anybody who's not seen Shallow Grave should do so immediately. Excellent soundtrack on that one as well. - originalzzb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2McGregor still holds quite a grudge against Boyle and has repeatedly stated in interviews in the past that he would not want to ever be involved in a Trainspotting sequel.
- creep303, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1That's easily only about 3 or 4 years at most.
- bargainmusic, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1If anyone is interested, the Iron Man picture is back up.
http://digg.com/movies/First_Image_Of_IRON_MAN_In_Grey_Suit- smallestmills, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2whoops.
- 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3I can honestly say the movie Trainspotting was a load of crap. I have been a heroin user for 15 years now. Ive managed to keep my life in control, hold a job and raise a family. The characters in that movie were unbelievable and weak willed to say the least.
- wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1I would venture to say you are a rarity. I applauded you in your achievements. For some people just handling life in and of it self can seem daunting. I wish you the best of luck in trying to balance life and your addiction. My question to you is this: What will you say to your kids when they find your rig?
- 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6My kids are teenagers now and as such I support whatever decisions they make or lifestyle they choose. My oldest, 17, is pregnant. She recently decided to move in with her girlfriend and the two of them have a loving relationship so Im sure my grandchild will be loved. My son smokes weed with his friends (they are sophomores in highschool). Usually they just do it in my house, under my roof with my supervision. I raise them to be aware of the consequences of their decisions but other than that I let them live their life by their own rules.
Im never surprised when some conservative, and its always you close minded conservatives, asks me how I will attempt to justify my behavior as if it needs justification.
Heroin use is no more dangerous or addictive than smoking, alcohol or crack. - wonboodoo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2It was fiction, not a documentary, and one great flick. Completely different, but reminds me of Pulp Fiction. A non-stop thrill-ride of humor, shock, originality, great acting, and great music. Ahm so fooken chuffed with this news.
- pathy, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6If your daughter is having a child while only 17, she's going to miss out on a lot of life. You should have guided her better, and while it is good for you to allow your children to live their life as they see fit, children need guidance and boundaries, even as they are approaching adult hood, they need that guidance and their limits set.
- 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9Re: Pathy
Who are you to judge me and the way I choose to live my life? I'll tell you what. You just go to your church, vote for your Republicans and eat your red beef and drive your gas guzzlin car all the while oppressing minorities.
Leave me to live my life the way I want to. You shouldn't be on DIGG with a judgmental attitude like that. - wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2@ 420sniper - Very cool. I hope it all works out for you.
- Ryan83, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1@420 Even if I get dugg down, I don't care. You need to be supported. Other people have addictions they can't manage, and they need help. You only need tolerance. For you, the legal consequences are worse than the addiction itself. Please stay out of prison for you kids.
- 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Re: wvdavis
thanks man. Its been working out for a while and will continue to work out. It all comes down to self discipline and control. Too many judgemental pr**ks in this world trying to tell the rest of us (the majority) how we should live our lives and what rules we should follow. So I shoot smack up. So I impregnated my daughter. So my son came to me to help him dispose of some problem he took care of.
Progressive people make up the world. Deal with it. - dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I think you guys have been played.
"So I impregnated my daughter."
?!?!!?!!!
Right...
Um, I'm no moral upstanding citizen, but I live clearly above a life that needs to be addicted to a narcotic to enjoy my life. Whatever kind of high is achieved through your drug is a personal greed at best and wasn't spent raising your kids properly. If this were real, you'd be a horrible father. You raised your kids to accept illegal substances as norm and that illicit relations with your father are okay.
Pot may not have any ill effects on most people, but that doesn't mean you need to encourage it's use. People DON'T need to get high. They choose to, and some people live better than to skip out on their lives by not doing stupid ***** like poking yourself in the arm with some china white.
I've got all the time in the world when I'm dead to not feel anything. Right now, I'm alive and do just fine living it. - Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Now you're just trolling 420.
If you did actually impregnate your OWN ***** DAUGHTER, you're one sick puppy. - wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@ dvddesign - No *****.
- 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Re: Aliarse
I DUGG you down because you are a judgemental conservative arse. - 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1RE: DVDDesign
You aer DUGG down for posting a SPOILER without warning. - Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4And you're a smackhead who shags his own daughter.
Don't get all moral on me you *****. - haggie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9420sniper is addicted to trolling...
my guess is that he's never done a drug in his life, has never shagged anyone definitely not his non-existent daughter, and still lives in mom's basement collecting star wars memorabilia and watching the DVD of Trainspotting repeatedly trying to perfect his fake accent. - Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Me too.
Edit - the addicted to trolling part, not the rest. - pathy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1420sniper,
Firstly, I'm not an American. By definition of your crazy parties, I'd be a Libertarian. I believe everyone should be allowed to do what they like with their bodies.
Second, I'm an Athiest.
And finally, I commend you for how willing you are to allow your children to live their own lives, but surely, if you are indeed a good parent, you realise that when you HAVE a kid your life does not become your own, it becomes all about your children. They are first in everything, and noything you do should be without them taken in to the most grave of consideration.
My point is, 17 is very young. At that age, it shouldn't be about a transition in to caring and looking after a human being so deeply, you should still be living your life. Granted, your daughter may realise all this, but never the less, there should be guidance in the role of the parents to make their children realise just exactly what they are doing. - 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -9/+0You are all a bunch of judgemental hypocrites much like those christians you bash on a regular basis.
I posted my opinion that the movie Trainspotting was basically an incorrect depiction of heroin use. As a longtime Heroin user I can safely say Trainspotting is to Heroin use as reality is to being a Republican. Or a Christian.
And you hypocrites have the gall to DIGG me down.
im hurt. really. - 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1RE: Pathy
I want to have sex with your mouth. Any orifice that spouts words that eloquent must be like a wet Xanadu. - martin993, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just because it isn't the same as YOUR drug experiences, it doesn't make it utterly false. Welsh himself was an addict for a time. You're being a bit of a dismissive, judgmental prick yourself. A lot of people can relate to Trainspotting. The world does not revolve around you. Movies are not made to cater for you alone. Get over it. If you're going to criticise people's work because it's not about you then you're going to be at it for a very long time.
Do as much smack as you like. Nobody cares.
- marcomc2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3HOLY *****. this is incredible! i dont really like sequels to perfect films, but this might actually be amazing. oh god there go my expectations again...please god make this glorious. and @420sniper: thats pretty ***** up man.
- creep303, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This will be highly interesting. It's neat how he wants to follow the time line of the characters' age. Hopefully this actually becomes something.
- Rimrock, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Lust for life! Choose life!
- erniecamacho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8What I want to know is: will Kelly MacDonald be back, too? And will she still look great in that school uniform?
- 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1Any movie that depicts underage sex (even if the actress is over 18 in RL) should be applauded and celebrated. I for one can't wait fto see Dakota Fanning's love scene in Hounddog.
- Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We can only pray and hope. :D
- br0ck, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2--- SPOILER ALERT --- Renton and Diane do in fact get back together in the the sequel, "Porno".
- kungfoolou, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2No Kevin McKidd (aka Lucius Vorenus) though, I guess. After all Tommy was the only one who died from the smack.
- 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1Tommy didnt die from the smack.
Tommy died from the fag disease, AIDS. - noisebleed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, kind of a shame. I've really been enjoying his work recently.
- 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1Tommy didnt die from the smack.
- ElevenisEven, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1"im cookin up"
- acdegroff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If its half as good as "Trainspotting" it will be be epic.
- 420sniper, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1The best part of Trainspotting was the ending where Ewan Macgregor decides to grow up and turn that crazy dude into the police and live his life.
No wait.
The best part of Trainspotting was when the credits started rolling. - biw314, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Porno" was also the sequel to "Glue" which is my favorite book by Welsh. I think the characters in "Glue" are even better than "Trainspotting".
- smallestmills, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not really a sequel. Glue used side characters who appear in all his novels. Glue takes place over 30 years or so, but starts before Trainspotting, runs parallel, and ends before Porno.
- rohcky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Poor, poor Kevin McKidd. Rome is over and Tommy died of AIDS. He's got nothing.
- nuschu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4A spokeswoman for Scottish Screen said: "We would welcome the making of Porno in Scotland"
- evilearsgonemad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Raise your hand if this film ever prevented you from doing heroin.
*raises hand
My favorite "coming of age" film. Spud ***** in his girlfriends bed. lol- Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Didn't make me stop doing heroin.
Watching the local smackhead's, who are nothing like the characters in TS stopped me.
- Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Didn't make me stop doing heroin.
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I had a poster for Trainspotting for YEARS on my wall during college.
Born Slippy is also the song that got me to listening techno, take that for what you will...- RedStateRetard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that soundtrack will be hard to top
- Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Drive boy dog boy dirty numb angel boy
In the doorway boy she was a lipstick boy
She was a beautiful boy and tears boy
And all in your innerspace boy you had
Hands girl boy and steel boy you had
Chemicals boy Ive grown so close to you
Boy and you just groan boy she said
Comeover comeover she smiled at you, boy.
Haven't heard that song in years, must go download. :)

I DUGG you up man. Thanks for the support. - psychosid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Like many have said.... It's one of those "must see" movies. I hope the rumors are true but I doubt it can be better that the first..... but I will keep an open mind until it sees the light of day!
comment on the original: the baby on the ceiling freaked me out too!!! - etx313, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1O M G
That news makes me a happy boy. The first is one of the greatest movies of all time no doubt! - thedez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What could it be about? This has to take place 10 years later. If any other the characters are still on drugs, the movie's gonna require some CG/makeup work.
- SailRacer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Take this entirely out of context please...
A spokeswoman for Scottish Screen described Boyle's indication that the original cast have agreed to take part as "fantastic news".
She said: "We would welcome the making of Porno in Scotland
I'm glad that the Scots would welcome the making of Porno. :)
Trainspotting was an awesome movie. It would be great to see this make it. I hope McGreggor signs on. It wouldn't be right to do it with someone else. - Elbart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ah ***** them. What is a Trainspotting sequel good for? The movie itself was nice, now they will not ruin the sequel, but the initial part too. Thank you, asswipes.
- TeamRocket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is a GOD!!!
- stray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, not ALL the characters will be back. Tommie (Kevin McKidd's character) died of toxoplasmosis in the film.
- popegroupie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with you Elbart, a sequel will do us no good!! Trainspotting is a terrific movie by itself, I'm scared to see the sequel...
- jessicafowler12, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Can i just say, not to reinstate the arguement but as far as I'm concerned 420, I think your story is a tad pathetic and if you can honestly say that your life is "working fine" when your daughter is 17 and has moved out, your son is a puffhead and you, yourself, are a smackhead...... is that regulary called "fine"?!
Maybe I'm another Conservative nutter (even though Im also a liberal) BUT i though "working fine was have a couple with '2.4' children who do their hardest to do well by their kids and push them to make correct choices; of education, of travel, of broadening their minds..
or have I completely missed the mark here?! - accordjazz, on 01/13/2008, -0/+1That's great find
