my list goes to 11. - Firemeboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29As long as they included 'This is Spinal Tap', they should have gone with the top 11.
- bloqmon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27"What the hell are you singing?"
You dont know Jungle love? That ***** is the MAD notes. Writen by god herself and handed down to the greatest band in the world. The mother ***** time!
"You mean those guys in that Prince movie?" "Yea, Purple Rain. That ***** is so gay. ***** 80's style" - punch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24How did The Wall not make the list???
Floyd haters! - theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14The Wall #1, Tommy #2, This Is Spinal Tap #3. The rest? Who cares?
- elroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Why is THE WALL not on the list (in the #1 position).
Whoever wrote this is an ignorant fool. Don't waste your time reading it. - pseudojd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Blues Brothers? It had some rock.
- tekmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Pfft... what about "Wayne's World"?
Zang. - invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10High Fidelity - I need to watch it again!! It's been a few years since the last time I saw it.
Personally, I would have liked to see Airheads on that list
/ducks in anticipation of flames - PantherX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Agreed about Hedwig... and where the hell is High Fidelity?
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Top The Rock Movies as determined by IGN?
Did I miss something? - animalgod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yeah, and what's with the 29th and 48th anniversaries? Who gives a *****?
- hmemcpy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny FTW!
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7No Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? Bogus!
- rtakach, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Led Zeppelin: Song Remains The Same
- Lynx34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5And The Kids Are Alright at #4
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Exactly!!! How could they miss The Wall??!?!? This is like a total outrage. That movie speaks volumes. I can't believe it. They PURPOSELY didn't include it. Its a damn conspiracy.
- moosebumps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm not suprised that Hedwig made the list, but I would have placed it a little further up the chart.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5WHERE'S THE WALL?!?!? DUDE?!?! This is a TOOOTAL joke. THE WALL?!?! I can't believe it. No digg like AT ALL.
- TommyRubbish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"The Wall" and "High Fidelity" totally got the shaft, man.
"School of Rock" deserves to be up there too. Tight script, well cast, awesome soundtrack - a big flip of the bird to MTV and a much needed lesson to anyone below college-age of what good rock 'n' roll was, and how to save it. - Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4wow I clobbered that comment up badly.. I mean to say "The Top Ten.." Dunno how that happened... Yeah. uhm.. digg on.
- pseudojd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Rattle And Hum?
- Piper7865, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5What about the Ramones Rock and Roll High School ... quality quality as well as where is Pink Floyd's "The Wall"
- Noctem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Almost Famous, awesome - One of my favorite movies of all time. Good list; This Is Spinal Tap is funny, those guys have made some great fake documentary movies.
- Piper7865, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Mod up to blogmon for the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back Reference
- foshizol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34. Song Remains The Same
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I can't believe "From Justin to Kelly" didn't make it!!
- biglouddrums, on 10/12/2007, -1/+411. 24 Hour Party People
- CCRider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Couldn't agree more with the 1st place. One hell of a movie.
- ivanjs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Jesus Christ Superstar is my favorite-Awesome music, great vocals, amazing bass lines-and very controversial for its time.
- ouais, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Where the hell is "The Wall" and "Wayne's World"?
- BlackCow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was thinking that waynes world would be on the list but I guess thats the wrong type of rock movie. Still an awsome movie though.
- kimastergeorge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4One good movie that's rather small and recent that not many people have seen is DiG! (Plus it's name fits with this site well.)
It's about a psychedelic-revival band called the Brian Jonestown Massacre, when contrasted to their more popular friends, the Dandy Warhols, who originally imited BJM's sound. - cbiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3# 8 "A Hard Days Night"
A 'typical' day in the life of the Beatles during Beatlemaina, including many of their famous songs. - UnseenLlama, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Where is La Bamba!?! Riiiiitchiiee!
- afpunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't wait to see where I Wanna Be Sedated starring Vincent Chase ends up on this list.
- wjibaja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I personally would like to include The Blues Brother. Just my pick.
- dmax801, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Tied for #1 and #2 would be "The Last Waltz" and "The Kids Are Alright." "Spinal Tap" at number 3. "New York Doll" at #4. :One Trick Pony" at #5
All the others suck. - Lunarshadow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No Detroit Rock City? It's a travesty.
- krakelohm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How could it be weird with a kickass plot like that?
- Zer0Fade, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Purple Rain was and awesome movie and and even better sound track. Darling Nicky anyone? Morris Day and Prince? Great movie in my eyes but I grew on on funk and love prince's style. The music was incredible in that movie. It should have been ranked higher.
- VicGolgo13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Iggy Pop at his best... Totally Rock & Rule!!!
- LordRahl72, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4No Rockstar? ok I know the movie sucked, but Michael Matijevic of Steelheart's vocals kicks ass in that movie.
- archerx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh come on don't digg him down, that was pretty witty!
- archerx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh yea, they end up in Mexico, Have awesome hair and pointy shoes!
- devilman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I totally agree This is a complete travesty that "The Wall" did not make it let alone be in the top 5. These people who put this together are obviously lame!!!
I also agree that DIG! should have been there, one of the best rockumentarys I've seen. Plus it's got a cool name.
How about Quadrophenia? It's about mods and ROCKERS! Ok that might be pushing it, but it's another great Rock Opera by The Who.
No digg! - archerx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3What about "The Leningrad Cowboys go America" Best movie about a rock band ever!
Seriously you guys have to check it out, its a funny movie about a band from finland that tries to make it in the USA, oh its pretty weird too :) - 13tongimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw The Doors on the list and stopped reading. I love the Doors (the group), but that movie is weak and doesn't belong on that list. I saw from the comments that The Wall isn't on it, so that just com firms my belief that "Top 10" lists are just a waste of time in general, and this one more so.
Lazy "journalism" at it's finest. - flair1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I call BS unless "The Wall" is at least in the top 5
- cbiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2# 9 "ELVIS"
This magnificently produced biop of Elvis Presley contains an eerie, almost frightening portrayal of Presley by Kurt Russell, who literally seems to be inhabited by Elvis' spirit.
Physically, the movie is perfect in casting and location - you could see a freeze of any frame of this film and know it's about Elvis. -
