Top Comic Movies Before 2000

retrojunk.com — Here are some movies (starting with my favorite and working on down) that I think were great representatives for the comic book world before the current boom of superhero movies.

      • allisonaxe, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1I hated the third one as a kid, because it wasn't the first two, but as an adult, and having had a chance to look around and read some of the comics (and then seeing the third on cable) i have to say, it still sucks, but its much more in line with the comics than I'd originally realized. (in the comics, they traveled through time, and space, and parallel universes, and only rarely fought Shredder and the Foot.)

It followed very close to the old b&w comics and to this day I find the plot darker than any Marvel movie with the teenage gang material. Plus Shredder was a true bad-ass that inflicted terror and not a corny villain that spouts off cheesy lines.

  • DeviantDragon, on 02/29/2008, -0/+10Dude, that guy doesn't know about The Mask comic books if he thinks the movie was true to the comic book story. They changed the story a lot, made it more family friendly, and took out the gratuitous violence and killing.

      I'm glad they went the route they did with the movie though. It turned out really well and I don't think a truer to the comic version would have.
