- laraemeadows, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26The Princess Bride is Number One! Who could disagree?
- AriaStar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18Anyone who doesn't like The Princess Bride hasn't seen it.
- hipnerd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16esbern1: "who the ***** watches romance movies? gayest submission i've ever seen"
Have you ever even spoken to a woman without giving your credit-card number first? - geeklibrary, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15That's my favorite book, as well as movie of all time! William Goldman is a wonderful writer.
- absinth1977, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Mawwidge... Mawwidge if wut bwings uf togevah... today.
Mawwidge, that bwessed awaingement. A dweam, wiffin a dweam...
Hells I love that movie. - GiJoeBob, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14It was Tim Curry that made Legend so great. He was a badass.
- mtrip, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Disliking Princess Bride isn't an opinion, it's a character flaw.
- decepticrat, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Morning sickness?
- silverchrysalis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Legend is truly a neat movie, if a tiny bit cheesy. Hard to believe how sweet and innocent Cruise seemed back then...
- ISurfTooMuch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Ladyhawke is an awesome movie. I have to agree that the score really doesn't fit, but it isn't a major distraction from the film.
Watch it. You won't be disappointed. - absinth1977, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Oh.. and as to Legend, probably the -finest- movie Tom Cruise has ever been in. Simply for the fact that he hardly ever opened his mouth.
Tim Curry = the -MAN- in Legend. Darkness FTW. - shadowette, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I have seen and love all but LadyHawke. I've never even heard of that one. Is it still good, or is it dated?
- empressofmetal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Aside from the typical funky late 70s/early 80s score (I have no idea why a medieval tale would have Starsky and Hutch music), it holds up perfectly. I highly recommend it. It's one of Michelle Pfeiffer's first roles.
- slickhare, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9AH-HA! I knew there were women on Digg! And they said I was crazy...
- thegoldenavatar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Although I'm not a big fan of Stardust, still dugg for Neil Gaiman since American Gods is my favorite book.
- AriaStar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8The name "Prince Humperdinck" has always made me laugh.
- cbergeron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The first thing the cynic in me did was scan for The Princess Bride assuming it wasn't listed.
I was thrilled to see that not only was it listed, but it was #1. Happily dugg for accuracy. - CaptEnder, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Ditto.
- neodorian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Does it make me a geek that I've whispered that to little brothers, dates, and whoever else was sitting next to me at every wedding I've attended?
- chubbybubba, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Princess Bride was awesome, very heartfelt and not as cliche as one might assume..... just don't tell people I said so......err....em..... I only watched it to see Andre the Giant!
- chubbybubba, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this. I am not your King."...............now that's romance!
- Ninja337, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7300 is Romantic movie of the year. Think about it
- TropiCara, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3no, it makes you awesome!
- SushiCW, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Humperdinck! Humperdinck humperdinck humperdinck!
- cbergeron, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Or she's seen it, she just associates it with the ex-girlfriend you saw it with and refuses to like it for that reason.
:( - LucasVB, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Ah, looks like you're right. To my defense, I've always watched it in Brazilian Portuguese, since that's all they air around here.
- empressofmetal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Gaiman wrote the story; Charles Vess did the illustrations for the illustrated novel.
- freebot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Just want to point out that Stardust was written by Neil Gaiman and Charles Vest, together.
- LucasVB, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Unconceivable!
- dobesov, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Well all hail the 1980s... back when Hollywood still had some imagination. Maybe it was the rampant use of cocaine but the 80s sure gave us some fun cinema. I tend to think happily ever after is on the list only because of the stifling lack of fairytale movies in existence.
- silverchrysalis, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4turd.
- fridaporvida, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2oh, i love everything about this...except ever after...i don't adore that movie like the others. put mannequin up there and you got a fine lookin group of movies. i'm a sap. i know.
- shreela, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Princess Bride is awesome, so is Ever After. I would switch Splash with Roxanne though. "Worms, Roxanne, Worms", ROFL!
- TruthforAll, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If its so gay, why did you click on it? eh??
- SpikeLee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I would add in a lot of animated movies, but they might clog up the list. Good list though. I like Splash.
- SpikeLee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Because the Internet is the sharing of ideas; Digg is the same as well.
- Augie1969, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Check it out. Yes the soundtrack is odd, but just remember when the film was made. Matthew Broderick is classic as the thief who helps these two on their journey, and his comic moments add just the right amount of humor to a rather dark-looking movie.
- DivineLackey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Digg ripping off? lol that's funny. but ok. If you say so. I forgot anything that has voting is a digg rip off lol. Damn elections ripped off digg. Sometimes we see good idea and run with it and try to make it our own in a different way without ripping off or detracting, but i wouldn't expect you to get that. I personally thought a poll would add and allow people their own favourite. I wonder if you'll even know I replied, oh right digg doesn't let you know someone replied :p What a great thing.
- Ravenlock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The Princess Bride, "Undisputedly one of the greatest movies ever made." Can't argue with that statement at all. The film is perfection.
- ScornForSega, on 10/10/2007, -5/+6How YOU doin?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Legend is the greatest fairy tale!
- Lane5slacker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Because you linked to horrendous looking and "Digg ripping off"-ing blogspam that doesn't really add anything to the conversation.
Thats why - annenugent, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1nobody likes krull?
- Mers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What, no Conan? Pining for his lost Valeria, whom even death could not stop from coming back and saving Conan in his time of need!
"All the gods, they cannot sever us. If I were dead and you were still fighting for life, I'd come back from the darkness. Back from the pit of hell to fight at your side." - fantasyflamz, on 02/16/2009, -0/+1I'm very sick of the "save the princess" gag. Also, I can't believe they didn't have Stardust on there.
- weeFred, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wheres natural born killers?
- Iamthechamp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Inconceivable* It looks like you need to watch it again...
- TypeEE, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Best 5 are all between 1984 - 1987. Is this article 10 years old? or there wasn't a great romantic fairy tale for 10 years?
- BrodbeckAlberto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You only live once -- but if you work it right, once is enough.
