- AmyVernon, on 07/13/2009, -0/+11No way.. The one sitting at No. 1 totally deserves to be there (trying not to spoil it for everyone)... Scary as all hell.
- damnshoes, on 07/13/2009, -0/+8When I grow up, i want to be like Freddy Kruger.
- funkymonkey01, on 07/13/2009, -3/+11Freddie should be number one
- joaob, on 07/13/2009, -0/+5Is this how you justify churning out another lazy Top # list?
- AmyVernon, on 07/14/2009, -1/+6wow, that's effed up.
- therusher, on 07/14/2009, -0/+5No. 26 is not the new 25. Go home.

- BeShirtHappy, on 07/14/2009, -0/+4I guess if a some townspeople burn you up, who knows... maybe you will!
- drew101, on 07/14/2009, -0/+4High Tension - Euro slasher most fun since Sleepaway Camp
- cyoder, on 07/14/2009, -0/+4...which is why it was #1.
- AmyVernon, on 07/14/2009, -0/+4I'm waiting for the Top 12 lists of the Top 26 lists that you cannot miss.
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3list = buried.
try harder amy, use your evilly acquired power userhood for good. - xenuxenuts, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3Freddie should be bumped up to number 2. Number 1 is spot on.
- trafficlight, on 07/14/2009, -0/+3Buried for trying to be clever with lists. It's still a ***** list, *****.
- funkymonkey01, on 07/13/2009, -0/+3not sure what you mean, but it made me laugh
- chuckDontSurf, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2The original "Black Christmas" should be higher up on the list. Scared the living ***** out of me when I was a kid.
- cockyjeremy, on 07/14/2009, -2/+4Jason > Michael. Friday The 13th is #1, easily.
- chuckDontSurf, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Black Christmas is better than both. It was the prototype for Halloween. Don't get me wrong; Halloween is a classic, and a great movie, but it didn't scare me half as much as BC.
- momedefome, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Come on , no Intruder?????? that's bullcrap
- valgear, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Psycho is not a slasher. 'Black Christmas' is considered the first 'Slasher' flick.
- valgear, on 07/14/2009, -1/+3Theyre not slasher flicks, thats why.
- blizzardice1, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2You wanna molest children?
- k3rfuffl3, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Buried for the title
- modnar4444, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2don't we all?
- Anonymous41, on 07/14/2009, -0/+2Horrible list.
- modnar4444, on 07/14/2009, -1/+3Halloween definitely deserves first place
- dvsbastard, on 07/14/2009, -2/+3Wolf Creek...
Not an outright "slasher", but easily the most atmospheric, fear inducing, pantaloon filling horror movie ever! - darwininmotion, on 07/14/2009, -1/+2That was one of the most boring and over-rated of all modern horrors. There was nothing to be scared of in that film, only the guy pulling his hands out of the nails was any good.
- SanTe, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Tarantino has good taste in slasher movies. The ending of My Bloody Valentine (the original, not the recent remake) freaked me the ***** out. I still remember it to this day, despite having not seen it in over 25 years.
- Steve1802, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1They should make a film of the Pint-Sized Slasher.
- itinerantspectr, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1What about "Don't"?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxAgXJbami8 - SanTe, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1I'll back you up on that. Intruder was awesome. The uncut version was banned in the U.S. for many years. You can get it on DVD now though.
- cyoder, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1I'll digg this, if only because I'm a huge Friday the 13th fan and Part VI was my favorite of the series, but Halloween was a classic that set the table for 80's slasher films, and much of the film used suspense over real action (and relatively little gore) to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. I firmly believe it belonged at the top.
Friday the 13th is a great series for over-the-top horror, but Halloween was original and remarkable. John Carpenter's masterpiece would be damn hard to top. I even think Halloween II is grossly underrated. - s14sh3r, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1This is my kind of list. :)
- blizzardice1, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Psycho should not have been that far down the list!
- SanTe, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1I dunno, I think the first four were all better than part 6, and part 4 is my favorite. Part 6 was the best of all of them from part 5 through Jason X. Part 4 actually had a little character development (along with the always awesome Crispin Glover), something you got almost nothing of in any of the others. And part 4 also looks like it was directed by someone who knew how to make a movie, unlike most of the later films.
- sciencelovesyou, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1I expected a list entirely filled with movies from the last ten years. I was pleasantly surprised to see otherwise.
- tdogg241, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Phantasm and Evil Dead are not slashers. Audition is debatable, but I personally wouldn't call it a slasher.
Also, remember that for every good American horror film, there are at least 10 terrible ones. This ratio likely holds true for Asian horror films, we just see the best of the best here. - xenuxenuts, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1The best thing about Halloween was the budget. It didn't rely on special effects or gore. It relied on mood and suspense.
- kenhatesemos, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1oh ***** i forgot about high tension. yes, anyone who hasn't seen it, i promise it'll be worth your while.
- kschmidt5585, on 07/14/2009, -0/+1Yes, but it should have been part 1. Easily the best in the series.
- modnar4444, on 07/14/2009, -1/+1Halloween rightfully deserved first
- N01SE, on 07/14/2009, -1/+1Phantasm and Evil Dead? They are slasher, Audition is a great Asian slasher that should probably be on this list as well.
- Mykroberts, on 07/14/2009, -0/+0Good call on Friday pt. 6.
- ichithekiller, on 07/14/2009, -0/+0I Know What You Did Last Summer should not even be on this list, much less in the top 10. I would drop it and add Silent Night, Deadly Night. I do think Scream belongs on the list for reigniting the genre but number 4 seems a bit high to me. I would also lose the Hills Have Eyes Remake (I thought it was entertaining but prefer the original) and Final Destination and add the Japanese slasher Evil Dead Trap and Severance (which is as much a slasher as Final Destination is IMO).
- inactive, on 07/14/2009, -0/+0Replace "I know what you did last summer" with "Sleepaway Camp" and you got a solid article.
I really don't think "I know what you did.." counts as a good slasher flick. Tries too hard - a fisherman's outfit and a hook? Eh... -
