- benitojuarez, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I have to bury this because it says Clerks was filmed in 2004. Sorry.
- forthegift, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Glad Arlington Road is there. Nobody talks about it but it was excellent. Really like the Virgin Suicides too. This top 10 is pretty good. Not perfect but it can never be. A lot of good movies in the full 20.
- cardyology, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7SubUrbia is my favorite film ever. I love Giovanni!
- magaman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The Burbs is a classic, I'm surprised Disturbia didn't make it that was another very good movie.
- theteller, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5think it is a good list. along with first one it's a pretty reasonable top 20. i'd probably put the ice storm in there, maybe risky business, maybe a couple others. i'm not a fan of the burbs tom hanks film, but i know a lot of people are. no way everyone can agree on all of the movies so, i like it. pretty good entertainment
- konamicode, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Is anyone familiar with Penelope Spheeris' "Suburbia", made in 1984? Not only is it a punk rock classic, but I think it pretty well captures the plight of bored, poor, and abused teenage suburbanite. And also, Flea is in it.
- openthink, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Blue Velvet, American Beauty, Edward Scissorhands, Neighbors, others are on first top 10 list.
- SmokeN-DC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is a great movie I recall having a large group of friends over and watching it over and over you can still find the DVD if you look I was lucky and got one new
Great scenes Steeling some ones fresh sod and making a lawn in the mall to watch TV. - unfinity, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3American Beauty was on the first list.

- smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2yea, it's pretty lame that it was left out of both the first list and this one.
- hagfish70, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2They forgot the original Suburbia. For shame...
http://imdb.com/title/tt0086589/ - airiox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2They should have had links to the movie, possibly Netflix links, then I would have dugg it. :)
- steinstein, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Part 3 "2 new ones"
Grand Canyon (1991)
My Blue Heaven (1990) - littleorfnannie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ehh, List is ok.
No Blue Velvet? - davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2heh...you and I are on the same track. I posted below you before seeing yours.
LOVE that movie. Sadly not many have seen it in a long time. It deserves a re-release. - openthink, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2ouch. just a typo. meant to be 1994, kevin smith flix.
- DyslexicDog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2check the first list
- bubbadoo989, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ahem... missing just a few titles... what about last Summer's Disturbia?
- matts009, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Digg FTL. Digg this one down.
- krekc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Goonies anyone?
- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The ORIGINAL movie Suburbia[1984], with Flea from RHCP, should have been listed--not Eric Bogosian's. Sure, Eric's was great, but the one from 1984 was MUCH more powerful.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So long as you're referring to the original, and not the recent abortion.
- openthink, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Love Neighbors. Vic is hilarious. Pic was on the first list.
- thesmrt12004, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1still no Stepford Wives
- chicoer2001, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Where's "Over the Hedge"
- fnaqzna, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Poltergeist should be in there too.
- zeejay, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Neighbors - with John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd (whose character "Vic" is a classic.)
- yfguitarist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's because it's too "popular"
- konamicode, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It actually is on DVD. After seeing this post I immediately Netflixed it. Still as good as I remember.
- john570, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1And for some reason "Neighbors" has not been released on DVD. Drives me nuts.
- NCWdigital, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Nice list! Thought for sure they would have Edward Scissorhands on there, though.
- ELCad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I am so angry that True Stories was not on the list.
- monkeyswitch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Buried because the Original Suburbia should have been on the list.
What does TR stand for? Totally Ridiculous? - tyywebb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Indeed. The 'Burbs ftw.
- Ryan32, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Since when was Frank the Bunny "Purple"? Seriously did the author even watch the movie?
- objectcode, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0dugg both of them down
- matts009, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Ah.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2yeah, i caught onto that too, but i think they are confusing it with 'Clerks: The Lost Scene' which was released in 2004 not 'Clerks' which was released in 1994
- matts009, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Was hoping to see American Beauty on there...
- yagotmeseruchi, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Still missing my all time fave-Ghost World
- apeman300, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3two similar lists about school life movies:
http://www.scene-stealers.com/top-10/erics-top-10- ...
http://www.scene-stealers.com/top-10/jds-top-ten-n ... - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Did this article just call Arlington Road INTELLIGENT and suspenseful? And not as a joke? That was one of the most laughably ridiculous movies EVER! From the fight scene where Tim Robbins is able to hold his own against something bigger than a gnat, thereby making it completely unrealistic, to the whole ending, it was just terrible. Let's examine the ending. Spoliers in case anyone wants to torture themselves and actually watch it. Tim Robbins puts the bomb Jeff Bridges car in an effort to blow up the CIA building. He then devises a plot in which EVERY single thing has to go exactly as planned. and what was this plan? I'll list the main points:
1. Robbins kidnaps Bridges kid.
2. Robbins tells Bridges that the kid wil be OK as long as he doesn't try to get him back himself.
3. Bridges ignores Robbins and follows a delivery van that is carrying his kid.
4. Robbins fights the much larger/stronger Bridges and pretty much wins the fight.
5. Despite being interrupted, Bridges finds the delivery van again, but it isn't actually the same van. It is one that is heading to the CIA building.
6. He continues to follow it as it enters the CIA building.
7. He frantically tells the guys at the CIA (his friend) that the truck should not be allowed in the parking structure under the CIA.
8. His friend does not listen to him, not even asking for a quick search of the van.
9. Bridges decides to try to stop the bomb himself and takes off after the van, without any security clearance whatsoever.
10. None of the security tries to stop him except raising the barrier to the garage, which Bridges JUST BARELY clears.
11. The bomb blows up in the garage and destroys the building.
Here is the funniest part. After they fight, Robbins actually tells Bridges "Do you really think I would leave anything up to chance?" Well, no...Only MOST OF YOUR ELABORATE PLOT! This would be like a mad bomber blowing up a casino by setting up a bomb under a roulette wheel set to go off the first time the ball landed on 32, 0, 12, 5, 18, 21 in sequence. Could it happen? Sure, eventually it would with enough spins. And it could happen right away. But you would never plan on it to happen. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0By the way, I realize that Arlington Road is not the only movie with weak writing that has a series of unlikely events that just happen to fall into place just as the bad guy planned. That is a pet peeve of mine. (I have no problem with coincidences occurring. But not when the bad guy plans for every single one to occur.) But when Robbins asctually says that he would never leave anything to chance, that was enough for me. It was also then that I realized that Robbins should have hung up his acting shoes after Shawshank.
- stackered, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1or maybe clerks II
- benitojuarez, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1yeah but the lost scene wasnt a movie, it was just a short about the funeral. if you confuse a short with a movie i have to bury out of general principle. know what i mean?
- benitojuarez, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1that was last year. aka 2006
- 451probe, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0A list of Top 10 movies about the suburbs that lists "Arlington Road," an unremarkable Tim Robbins flick but DOESN'T include American Beauty? What...is this guy on crack? Thumbs down on this!!
