- waxcrash, on 12/12/2008, -0/+71Would have thought Iron Man or WALL-E would have made the list.
- chrisc3, on 12/11/2008, -4/+52And now to piratebay....
- EagleRufio, on 12/12/2008, -1/+42Wrong! Number one is Nailin Paylin which will also win best picture.

- deviouskoopa, on 12/12/2008, -0/+24Why is the Zohan flick on there...?
- elitedw, on 12/12/2008, -6/+26***** the MPAA...
- DjOverEZ, on 12/12/2008, -7/+27axxo FTW!
- Trollbane, on 12/12/2008, -3/+21I'd be pissed off if I made The Bank Job.
BTW, where is Ironman? - hbyrne, on 12/12/2008, -1/+19Boy if those are the top 10, with a few exceptions, it's been a pretty bad year to try and buy a pirated movie.
- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 12/12/2008, -0/+17Yup, sounds about right.
Not sure how Iron Man, Cloverfield, and Wall-E didn't make that list. Seriously, Horton Hears a Who? - jameslopez, on 12/12/2008, -1/+17It amazes me that Don't Mess With the Zohan could have made so much money...
- gridbread, on 12/12/2008, -3/+18Funny thing is even though TDK is #1 on this list, it did fine at the box office and raked in tons of cash.
Oh noes piracy is the end!
I guess we will see how well blu-ray and dvd sales go, my prediction is just fine. - 0260, on 12/12/2008, -2/+14That sucks. Bank Job would've doubled it's gross if those people watched it in theater
- DrZmobie, on 12/12/2008, -0/+9Obligatory "Book was way ***** better" comment.
- farfegnugen, on 12/12/2008, -1/+9You should see it. It's surprisingly good.
- farfegnugen, on 12/12/2008, -0/+8I saw that in the theater. I went in expecting another outrageous Jason Statham movie, but was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It's a shame it didn't make too much money. It definitely deserved to bring in more than Zohan.
- PiggtailGirl, on 12/12/2008, -1/+8What? No Beverly Hills Chihuahua?
- doublefelix, on 12/12/2008, -1/+7Juno made over $230 million worldwide box office alone. I am sure that anyone lucky enough to get gross profit points on this one did not have to wait for their gold plated fountain.
- LockeNCole, on 12/12/2008, -0/+6Never said they were gonna be fair with their guess. :)
- MehgoMeh, on 12/12/2008, -1/+7I guess I wouldn't pay for Horton Hears a Who either...
- Auraness, on 12/12/2008, -3/+8Really? No Iron Man? Everyone start torrenting.
- inactive, on 12/12/2008, -1/+6or... you can just buy the ***** thing?
- doubleoh7, on 12/12/2008, -1/+5I saw The Dark Knight twice in the theatres, one more time in the IMAX, and I downloaded it. The day it's released on DVD I'm picking up a copy. Good work is rewarded whether it gets downloaded or not.

- sougly, on 12/12/2008, -1/+5What about The Bank Job? Don't cherrypick.
- DteK, on 12/12/2008, -1/+5I... I mean a friend of mine uploaded at least 800GB of The Dark Knight. Easy to see how it is #1
- OldDrtySapper, on 12/12/2008, -2/+6lol and all these movies made tons of money so heres a big ***** YOU to the MPAA
- voodoochild461, on 12/12/2008, -0/+4I cant believe that Horton hears a Who beat out Ironman, wtf are you people doing?!?!?
- Myztry, on 12/12/2008, -0/+4When Batman speaks in the film, it is better to block your ears and vocalize the sound in your head as if reading a book...
- paulvq, on 12/12/2008, -0/+3A difference of forty seeders is hardly something to be incensed about.
- MyNameIsGusto, on 12/12/2008, -1/+4It was Sandler's best comedy in years, not saying much though.
- whatthefu, on 12/12/2008, -1/+4Maybe the majority of pirates have ***** taste.
- inactive, on 12/12/2008, -2/+5What's up with "Top 10 ... of 2008" lists lately? Last time I checked we still have 20 days until New Years
- bdfariello, on 12/12/2008, -0/+3Hmm... Downloaded 'em all except Horton Hears a Who, but I did download Forgetting Sarah Marshall twice because I deleted it the first time without watching it. I guess that'll make up for it.
- icemanxp, on 12/12/2008, -0/+3I died a little inside knowing that humanity brought that movie into existence.
- deviouskoopa, on 12/12/2008, -0/+3No faith in the underdogs breaking into the Top 10 in the last waning days :-/
- inactive, on 12/12/2008, -0/+3bank what? Never even heard of it let alone pirate it.
- paulvq, on 12/12/2008, -2/+5Bank Job had a horrible marketing campaign. That's why it only made 65 million; no one knew about it.
- Portezbie, on 12/12/2008, -0/+2I did not download 7 of these 10 movies
- Myztry, on 12/12/2008, -0/+2[Receives envelope, opens envelope, dramatic pause]
And the Treasure Chest for most pirated film goes to
THE DARK NIGHT
[Audience cheers and applauds] - antdude, on 12/12/2008, -0/+2http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents (12/11/2008):
"... In news today, remember how I was saying that Warner's The Dark Knight was likely to be the biggest selling title of the year? Yeah, it is. According to this story at Home Media from our friend TK Arnold, the title sold 3 million combined units on Tuesday, a whopping 600,000 of them on Blu-ray Disc. That's right, 600,000 copies on Blu-ray in a single day. The previous record holder was Paramount's Iron Man, with 500,000 units, not in a single day but in its first week of release. One of these two titles is going to be announced as the first million seller on the Blu-ray format and soon. ..."
Original source: http://www.homemediamagazine.com/news/batman-could ... ... - flamesoftheend, on 12/12/2008, -0/+2Interesting i've recently seen in theatres/have all of these. If i pay 20 bucks to watch in theatre and eat my popcorn why the ***** should i have to pay again!!!
- fridgemidge, on 12/12/2008, -0/+2Well said, doubleoh7.
They got my money 3 times for the Batman picture (including today, when I bought it on DVD) and they didn't lose any by me downloading it. - d03boy, on 12/12/2008, -0/+2aka, people download ***** movies because they dont want to pay to see it in theaters
- inactive, on 12/12/2008, -1/+3The only time I heard about this movie outside the internet was in my class where my teacher (pirates movies) talked about how he liked it. Paulvq is right, hardly anyone heard about it.
- dagamer34, on 12/12/2008, -0/+2What imaginary standard would that be? You can go find a 4GB DVD rip if you like, though any fan of The Dark Knight wouldn't settle for recompressed (downloadable) verisons of the film.
- LJSeinfeld, on 12/12/2008, -1/+3If you look at the numbers, the number of times downloaded swings as much as approx 2.3 million times depending on the popularity of the movie.
The difference in worldwide gross, however, is as high as approx $932 million.
What I take from this is: The quality of the movie (this is subjective, of course) is way more important to the bottom line than how many times it get's downloaded. The less popular the movie is the less people will go see it -- but they still may download it.
I realize I have an amazing grasp of the obvious... -
