1. The Dark Knight - lvizon, on 12/20/2008, -0/+30How did the Olympics not make the list?
- vivvivtzz, on 12/20/2008, -1/+23the cgi-makeup of Two Face in DK was genius.
- thataceman, on 12/19/2008, -0/+17Too bad descent F/X alone don't make the $8.00 movie ticket worth it.
- Yetisquatch, on 12/20/2008, -1/+18Some of the worst FX in a movie this year? Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
- jmcneilly, on 12/20/2008, -1/+16"Gort Turns Into Nano Apocalypse"
Thanks... Now I don't need to see the movie... - Mosersaurus, on 12/19/2008, -0/+15I don't know where you're seeing films for $8, but I should like to go there.
The Batpod is amazing. - molko42, on 12/20/2008, -1/+11I for one am upset that Beverly Hills Chihuahua wasn't mentioned.
- AnimalTaglits, on 12/20/2008, -1/+10The best part of Speed Racer was not the beginning of the ***** rally race. This guy is retarded. It's the last 5 minutes of the movie right after Speed get's hooked by the bad guy and he has to catch up with everyone in the race. That scene was movie gold. I work at BlockBuster and we watch that scene over and over and over on the Blu-ray kiosk. It's spectacular. I can't wait for the Wachowski's next movie.
- Wulffy, on 12/19/2008, -0/+9What? You pay only $8.00 for a movie ticket? We pay in Germany EUR 8.00 to 11.00... ($11 - $15)
- ashes0, on 12/19/2008, -1/+10That's what I pay....
Movie prices differ guys
Why the hate? - Apocolypse007, on 12/20/2008, -0/+8The ads take up 5X more space than the article!
- hoodoodave, on 12/20/2008, -2/+9Popular Mechanics may call it "brilliance," but personally, I think Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion monsters are more real-looking than a lightsaber-wielding Yoda.
- CFFL23, on 12/20/2008, -0/+7No way! Those monkeys and ground hogs and aliens and space ships all looked SO real!
/s - joelcass, on 12/20/2008, -0/+7Don't forget the mighty ants!
- ashes0, on 12/19/2008, -2/+8While the effects were good The day the Earth stood still was such a crappy movie though.
Alien tree huggers?
Who wants to see that - MusicalGenius, on 12/20/2008, -0/+6The FX in Batman are generally more REAL ACTUAL events which aren't faked for film. But Speed racer, though mostly fake I still feel should win because it was MUCH more impressive from what the industry is generally putting out.
GORT WAS AWESOME. I disagree with the article. The War of the Worlds scary feeling which should have been was put into GORT. He totally creeped me out before AND after the nano crap. - Sornos, on 12/19/2008, -1/+7I don't know about that. Decent F/X is often a big decider for me when it comes down to seeing a movie in theater or not. Big sound and big visuals are so much better on the big screen. Worth 13$ to me.
- swanny89, on 12/20/2008, -0/+6I found it a bit over the top. I wanted to see more physical burnt flesh and less "Pirates of the Caribbean" holes in the face.
- birch25, on 12/20/2008, -0/+6you really didn't need to anyway.
- mrseptic, on 12/20/2008, -0/+6Having ADD must suck.
- zoethebitch, on 12/20/2008, -0/+5Dark Knight truck flip, filmed from a nearby office window:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cq6paj9RIE
(only about 10 seconds long) - wrenchone, on 12/20/2008, -2/+7Because the rest of us pay more than that.
- Sornos, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4That's what I love about the Hellboy series. Only CGI when necessary.
- InitialDMP5, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4You should see Pirates. But since you said it needs "more" I'm assuming you have.
- HanSolo69, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4Most of the effects in Iron were practical effects which is what made it SO much better than most of the genre films coming out these days.
- tgc1, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4Why did you have to bring that movie up? I've managed to forget it for MONTHS now... and tonight i'm going to have nightmares about it. Again. Thanks a lot god dammit.
Lead lined fridge.... nuclear blast.... grrrrrrrr.... - Samohtneas, on 12/20/2008, -0/+4There is another side to you. Maybe the same is for all of you.
...nah. Let the gray goo apocalypse commence! - themastersb, on 12/20/2008, -0/+3I pay that in Canada at Cineplex Odeon.
- brycehun, on 12/20/2008, -1/+4Too bad you aren't a "decent" speller
- valleyvideo, on 12/20/2008, -0/+3Holy *****.
- IRaphy, on 12/20/2008, -0/+3That's not what made it bad. What killed it was the WILD deviation from the story of the Original. They obviously had not plot when you realize the Alien (Keanu) changes his mind SOLELY on a kid missing his dad! WTF?!
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -0/+3that wasn't CG, that was just Eckhart without makeup.
- bagboyrebel, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2You know the semi flipping over was in the trailers, and pretty much anyone who cares already knows Two Face is in it.
- aceallways, on 12/20/2008, -0/+212.50 in Calgary, AB
- CynicSight, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2Digital fake *****? I think silicone is enough.
- antdude, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2$10.50 for me.
- swanny89, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2Hooray for college town prices. $3.50 matinee, $5.50 at nights with a $1.00 with a student ID.

1. Profit
Methinks it's some sort of psychology thing, like how people are less likely to put something off when they give it a deadline. I'm sick of it too though. - antdude, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2You forgot the ants. I love ants, but sorry this movie's ants weren't good.
- brycehun, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2in ten ***** pages no less
- spriggig, on 12/20/2008, -0/+2A bunch of people showered a whole lotta love on the hardware details in the Iron Man suit building scenes and it shows. That was like tech geek porn.
- randomworries, on 12/21/2008, -0/+1LOL @ killer crabs LMAO
- Sparrow06, on 12/20/2008, -1/+2how exactly? Digitally rendered cum-shots?
- Merp08, on 12/23/2008, -0/+1I love the scene in TDK where the truck flips... BOOM!
- canreacchio, on 12/20/2008, -2/+3buried for multipaged article!
- amauldin71, on 12/20/2008, -4/+5Someone got paid to put together that crap list?
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -0/+1holy ***** this guy's name is antdude, you DO love your ants.
but do you love uncles? - inactive, on 12/21/2008, -0/+1special effects don't have to be computer generated.
- Abdax, on 12/21/2008, -0/+1In fact, special effects are generally on set in the form of explosions, rain, whatever. Visual effects is anything that happens after filming.
