- captinherb, on 10/12/2007, -28/+96What are you some kind of pro-alien freak. That Independence Day scene is great. Alright, a little cheesy but it still gives me chills, definitely not in the top 100
- mvanhorn, on 10/12/2007, -18/+76I came to the comments section to say I loved the ID4 speech by Bill Pullman!
- Calypsoaf, on 10/12/2007, -8/+43Man, I don't know where they're going with the ID4 rip, especially mixed in with those real stinkers. Everytime I hear that speach, I jump in my invisible F-16, fly into the night and shoot down every alien bastard that gets in my way. When its over I smoke a cigar and make love with my invisible hot model girlfriend. Yes, it's that good.
- jogleby, on 10/12/2007, -13/+47The Independence Day speech is cheesy, but it is so awesomely cheesy that it is great. Much like the line, "Give me some sugar, baby" from Army of Darkness.
- Kamill85, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Why the hell everything has to be Top 10, or 20 or 100. Make it Top 17 for a change.
- m1ek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30i wanted the fighter jet... but my mom got me the alien ship by mistake.
i cried on christmas - xmetal2001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Don't confuse cheesiness with bad acting.
- nipuL, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26I know kung fu
- meshman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24"5. “I’ve always been standing in your doorway” - Spiderman 2 (2004)"
They'd better not ruin the new one like they did the others. It's about Spiderman, not the skanky slut you want and then don't want and then are wanted and then unwanted then you both agree to want each other but actually don't and then... jesus christ. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Gee, nice fricken job using Image Shack!! no all i see on my screen is a freakin swarm of ugly yellow toads
- Narwaffle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Woah.
- aryo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18i loved transformers to death, but with michael bay directing the one coming up, i got a really bad feeling.
from entourage:
ari: "guess who's directing aquaman 2?"
e & vince: "who?"
ari: "michael bay"
e: "oh jesus"
vince: "*****!" - theungeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17You know what this list is missing? The entirety of Braveheart.
"We fought like Warrior Poets."
WARRIOR POETS, people. - bunnybash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Just a perspective of someone from outside the USA, we all pissed ourselves laughing (when i say we, i cant speak for everyone outside the USA, but literally the whole group of people i was with at the time and every time since) when Bill Pullman uttered those lines... the whole movie was one nasty ball of mozzarella that had been left to cure waaaay too long!
But then again that movie was made for an American audience and apparently you guys love that *****...
*prepares to be buried under a pile of patriotism* - spookyttww, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I agree the Spiderman films are littered with cheesiness (though the action totally cancels it out) but thats what the comics are all about, the anti-hero who is not only hated, geeky, and tragic, but mixed up in a cheesy love story. Basically it's what made Spiderman so popular, he's relatable.
- Chakz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1610. “I’m the king of the world!” - Titanic (1997)
9. “Ditto” - Ghost (1990)
8. Any scene with Anakin and Padmé - Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
7. “You had me at hello.” - Jerry Maguire (1996)
6. “Nobody puts baby in a corner”
5. “I’ve always been standing in your doorway” - Spiderman 2 (2004)
4. THAT scene - An Officer and a Gentleman (1982)
3. “You can be my wingman anytime” - Top Gun (1986)
2. “Is it still raining? I hadn’t noticed.” - Four Weddings And A Funeral (1994)
1. Bill Pullman’s speech – Independence Day (1996) - Adiddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Cheesily awesome line from Predator;
Blaine: I ain't got time to bleed. - ousthouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14You had me until #1
- jambox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Cheese and wood are easily confused.
- alx242, on 10/12/2007, -11/+22Not being an American I must say Bill Pullman's speech makes me puke buckets full...being delivered American nationalistic propaganda is quite amusing from time to time. But the declaration of Americas independence day to be the Worlds independence day just made me turn the whole thing off. Its cheesier then cheese!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Common mistake, first made by the writers of T3
Arnold was a T800 model 101 (in T1 & T2), but in T3 he referred to himself as a T101.
and for the record, as a non-American, the Independence Day speech by Pullman was the worst part of the film. It does indeed come across as cheesy and crass, and I cringe whenever I hear it. - Supurcell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Sam Raimi is the king of cheesy movies, really good cheesy movies.
- washcapsfan37, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12And they didn't even use the entire quote:
"I know now why you cry. But it's something I can never do."
Only Aahnahld could've pulled that line off and still looked badass. - laterallateral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11The problem with SW 1-3, (especially Attack Of The Clones) is as much poorness in the actual script as it is terrible delivery. Chistensen makes what seems like ***** rock lyrics sound completely alien:
Anakin: "From the moment I met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you. And now that I'm with you again... I'm in agony. The closer I get to you, the worse it gets. The thought of not being with you- I can't breath. I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating... hoping that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me... what can I do?- I will do anything you ask."
Was Lucas smoking crack and listening to Whitesnake, when he wrote that? Maybe he should have cast David Coverdale as Anakin, or something. - Seruphim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13The scene from Chronicles of Riddick, where he kills that guy with a teacup.
"death by teacup, damn why didn't I think of that?" - po43292, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I love "Verdict: [picture of cheese]"
- Bega, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12"You can be my wingman anytime" is not cheesy. It is hilariously awesome.
- FunkyPits, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11While the Pullman speech was fairly bad it is not the worst for me. That comes from the same movie though when at the end Will Smith tell the little boy "Didn't I tell you I was gonna get you fireworks." That line makes me want to murder puppies, grandma's, and anything else nearby that may irk me while in an irrational rage. As for Top Gun that whole movie is total cheese, but I still watch it if its on TNT or the like reminds me of the old days of quasi-original film making.
Now I am off to watch a remake of a remake of a movie that wasn't even good to begin with. - fuzZzy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11That might work if your picking up multiple men (something tells me that's not your goal).
- quomen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12The TMNT would approve of this cheesiness
- Cyberen, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15ID4's #1 spot is well-deserved. To imagine a president not only able to speak in complete sentences but to be genuinely concerned about the welfare of humanity over himself is so different from reality we see it as absurd.
- spearce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9that is a seriously under rated movie. you have to read the book to fully appreciate the insanity of the main character.
- DeskFlyer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Touche.
- verbose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Oh, I thought "go get 'em tiger" was kind of sexy. Perhaps you would have prefered him to reply with, "Um, it's not Tiger-man, it's Spider-man!" And then do a double thumbs up into the camera.
- xmuzik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8you could have filled that list up with 10 moments from the movie " Road House " alone
- spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8lol you're talking about romance on digg.
I'm tempted to make a comment about how I would like to stick my howdoyoudo into your bajingo. - richmondphotog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I think the ending to the perfect storm with Marky Mark in the water floating away.....that was pretty cheesy.
- jcenters, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Yeah, but they changed Peter Parker from "guy who has to deal with everyday issues" to Captain Emo. I took me a few tries before I could get past the first 45 minutes of Spiderman 2. I mean, we all have bad days, but that was laying it on WAY too thick.
To be fair though, I thought they did an excellent job with Doc Oc. - Quakes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@ahhell
You're the kind of ***** that everybody hates when they go to see a movie. - spearce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7i thought predator was awesome as they eventually stop all the dialog in the movie (as everybody Arnie could talk to is dead) and just let the two of them fight it out. still one of my favorite movies all these years later.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"I really have to object to including Star Wars, especially since it was fantasy and the other films were all trying to be realistic."
oh yeah, because Spiderman, Ghost, Terminator and ID4 are obviously not fantasy in the least
/gripe at idiot fanboy - toonworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6show me!
- beneathbrooklyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"You're ghostin' us, *****!"
- Szandor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I bet you have a whole shelf of Star Wars paperbacks.
- jambox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6how about from Commando:
[Impales chief baddy with a heating pipe]
"Let off some STEEEM, Bennet!"
or
[Dangling weasly baddy over a cliff by his lapels]
"I thought you said you'd kill me last!?"
"I LIED!"
[Drops baddy] - Grimdotdotdot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Why did you say that twice?"
"I didn't!" - CrimsonBlur, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Problems with reading comprehension? The T2 one wasn't #1, it was a "cheesy moment we love anyway". I can't agree with the ID4 speech as #1. There are so many cheesy moments in movie history that top that that I can think of just off the top of my head. ID4 wasn't a deep movie and had cheesy moments, but it's a good popcorn action flick, just like lots of summer movies are, are they're ALL cheesy, but they cheesy partly on purpose. The rest of the list is fine, but the list isn't great. The worst cheesy moments are when it's supposed to be dead serious, or when it's meant to be romantic, but if you did it in real life the girl would just laugh at you and say "what?!"
- spearce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i loved that line.
- arcooke, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I didn't think that line was cheesy at all. If something like that actually happened, a speech like that would make it into the history books, just like "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind". I loved that part of the movie.
- GoatMonkey2112, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Why the hell everything has to be Top 10, or 20 or 100. Make it Top 17 for a change."
