retrocrush.com — It's easy to talk about scary movies, but we wanted to highlight the individual scary scenes that really stick out. dont leave off the protocol :) - nphp20, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9umm... www is not the protocol. I think you mean http?
- JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It's not the protocol, it's a subdomain which is rendered redundant by the protocol.
http://no-www.org - Oxygen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Site is up, the pages just take forever to load.

- Cbeck527, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The Ads load right away, but the images take forever -_-
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That makes sense though. The ads will always load faster if they're off site, because, well, they're gonna pay more money for their ads to always be up.
- kevindoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Definitely a lot of classic scenes there, BUT, I don't know if I agree with the order.
- nothing7899, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This list is a joke right?
i mean.... Dumbo, Willie Wonka, Pee Wee's Big Adventure??
Those scenes are schocking and a little strange but i don't know if "scary" is the right word. Some of the other scenes on the list are just gross rather than actually being scary. (Indiana Jones bug eating scene).
Sorry, but i have to bury this article as being inaccurate. - nothing7899, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think the list should be labeled a being the "creepiest" scenes of all time.
(sorry- didn't have time to edit my coment in time. "Creepy" was the word i was looking for.)

An otherwise forgettable movie, that wide shot with the distant figure appearing from a room and walking into the hallway scared the crap out of me!
- Bloodwine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man, I can't agree with most of that list. Of course, every person will have their own tastes and fears.
The biggest omission off the top of my head? That would be the cards scene from Evil Dead. Talk about a very creepy scene that sends chills down the spine. That is far, far scarier/creepier than the tree rape scene. - spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1....When a stranger calls? You have got to be kidding. Least scary movie of all time.
- humanerror, on 04/03/2008, -0/+590. DUMBO - Pink elephants on parade
This one did it for me. Scared the crap out of me when I was a kid :) - marcomc2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wow this site is old. okay though.
can somebody please recored "100 Scariest Horror Movie Moments" on Bravo tv this month and seed it to me? please wide internet possibilities, please. - sabor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you like horror movies do yourself a favor an visit the site and click on the links of the scenes. The descriptions of the scenes are pretty funny and do an excellent job explaining why the scene is indeed scary. Be patient though, it can take a while to load.
- rheaume, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Uhm no, #1 should be Fatal Attractions
"Im not going to be ignored!!!"
*Shudder* - retrocrush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sorry for the downtime, my 100 images on one page layout was pretty stupid in retrospect. I simplified the page with mostly text, but you can still click each one for the full write up with pictures and in some cases video. Thanks for your patience and feedback.
- fczero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0no asian movies (the ring, the eye, etc)? asians have wacky ways of scaring people..
- shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the ring was up there.
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the only problem is when they are 'Americanized' (aka The Grudge), they totally loose
the content and obtain the MTV curse (lots of hype for a movie that ends up sucking!)
- steveoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Katie in the closet in the Ring remake was the scariest cutaway ive ever seen. Lacking sleep and hungover and wanting to see th movie for so long, that made me almost rip the armrest off the chair at the theater.
Perfect timing by an awesome director. If, you didn't jump, you don't have a soul. - paidhima, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some really cool scenes in there. The "Indianapolis" scene from Jaws is one of the most intense moments I've ever seen in a movie.
When a Stranger Calls was indeed a crappy movie. But that one moment when the police call, and then you see the door upstairs open, that all freaked me out.
The two scariest scenes on there for me would have to be the Poltergeist clown and the two little girls in The Shining. The clown scene frightened me so badly (granted, I was relatively young when I snuck into the living room to watch it) that I had nightmares for days and to this day can't sleep entirely well if there are dolls of any kind in the room. - huongdu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+160. PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE - Large Marge
Am glad I'm not the only one who found this scary. I was young and watching this film in the dark and it scared the ***** out of me!- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE... yeah Paul Rubens would scare me....right along with
Laurence Fishburn dressed up like a cowboy.
Rubens did try in Buffy The Vampire Slayer (the movie) to be a scary vampire, but just
ended up getting he ass handed to him on a silver platter.
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE... yeah Paul Rubens would scare me....right along with
- fani, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They forgot 2 -
1. Hannibal -- Where Ray Liotta's open brain is shown and he's fed it and he eats it. I nearly vomited
2. Sixth Sense -- where he's peeing in the bathroom and the figure goes past the mirror - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
A few of my disturbing scenes:
XX. Dawn of the Dead (Original) - Janitor Zombie pops out from the mannequins.
XX. Day of the Dead - The "Feeding" scene (end), where the Major has his guts ripped
out and eaten in front of him while still alive.
XX. The Car - #1 - In the garage when Brolin goes for part for his dirt bike, the car
is in the back of the garage.
#2 - While Broilins' girlfriend is on the phone, the wind is blowing and
the car appears way down the street as you see it approach in
the living room window... and then WHAM!
XX. Dr Phibes - #1 Nurse who has boiled brussel sprouts poured on her while she is
sleeping, only to have her head picked clean by locusts.
#2 The ballroom, where the the doctor is given The Frog mask, as the
music of Al Jolson play, the mask tightens and crushes his head and
spine.
XX Dr. Phibes - A man laying on a cot, turns out to be a device by Phibes. Which
Rises Again extracts the mans head and spine via a hole while his body is crushed
(the "Sausage maker").
Creepshow II - "The Lake", guy and girl making out, and blob starts eating the girls
side of her face, while guy backs up in horror.
Creepshow - "Fathers Day" father zombie crawling out of grave screaming "Wheres
My CAKE!"- egarc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Blood and guts I can handle, but when Will Ferrell kissed Ali G in Talladega Nights, it made my spine crawl.
- lostradamus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What about the kid catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. That guy used to freak me out! :P
- Mike23132, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Jacob's Ladder! The scene when he freaks out on the dance floor or when when he's wheeled down to get an x-ray freak me the ***** out!!
I liked seeing Seven on the list, but how about this scene: What's in the box?!? - ATHEISTinHELL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0when i saw the pic of the crate I finally found out what movie it came from i partly remembered seeing it when i was little it's called Creepshow. I remember years ago it was driving me crazy what the movie was called thanks for digging the site.
- nakatomiplaza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha...No. 11...Deliverance...squel like pig scene.
I mean isn't that a whole different kind of scarey than the shower scene in Psycho? - moonsorrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The scare movies taken by the westerner just provide me with visual shock(perhaps it's because of I am not a Christian. When I saw the movie THE EXORCIST, I did not feel horrible at all.) But the Japanese scare movies provide psychal shock, that's really scared, like THE RING & JU ON( why this movie is not on the list?)
