- pondster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OMFG! That kicks Royale A$$, Arcades arn't that powerful yet but I can just imagine the lawsuits when it does. He gets totally thrown around when he crashes, and the in game movements are really timed nice with the hydrolics.
- Nerfdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...neat?
my 240sx, SCCA membership, and plethora of suspension upgrades (not to mention the KA-T i'm building) cost a fraction of that thing... and it's a real-life experience. but hey, whatever floats your boat, right? - slowspin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't care that it's old or whatever, but I do have just one complaint:
When you post a Video on digg, I would love if everyone would make it a little more clear. It this case, at the end of the title it says "(Video)".
I would prefer if it read:
VIDEO:The most Awesome Gaming Machine ever made
Not to be picky, but when you are at work, you need to know that stuff before you click, it sux if you don't. - DavidW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm with Force Dynamics, the company that built this machine. It's a production prototype of our 301 motion system.
Tsu2, nobody ever broke their arm testing the 301, and it doesn't move any more than you see in the video. Verify before you post so you don't make you and somebody else's company look bad.
It is all realtime, and it uses either built in outputs or our own software to pull data about vehicle position from the games.
Re: Mario Kart - be careful what you ask for.
We're very sorry that the video image quality doesn't live up to some of your high standards - however, we decided that we were better off spending our money on R&D rather than on fancy photos of yet another painted plywood box. So it goes.
There are more videos on our web site at http://www.force-dynamics.com/video.shtml. Enjoy! - LukusLuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1go buy a car with money saved from buying this thing, and drive that, real force feedback
- Oxygen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks like something Yoshi would have made
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HMMM.....I'd rather just go pick up a brand spankin new Scion tC.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Heh, the Force Dynamics 101, hell us Race-Simmers have known that forever, the base one with no LCD is about 10000$ USD, the loaded one with is about 17000$ USD, I've had the privelage of using one at Indy Motor Speedway, god it was so sweet,
- Dragular, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Wow, it's amazing that he coded it to match so perfectly with the car physics in a retail game."
This is why I want details... if you watch closely, his movements on the steering wheel don't perfectly match up with what's going on onscreen (especially near the end), plus (despite the fact that it's blurry as heck) it looks like video footage, not video GAME, going on onscreen.
Maybe with some tweeks though... who knows. - zoomie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In my best Will Smith impersonation..."I've got to get me one of these!!!"
- Tsu2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I know a guy whose brother worked on that project. That video shows it on a comparatively low setting. It can be put on so high that it will literally flip the whole thing over on its side if you crash on that demo. I think I remember him saying that an early tester actually broke his arm because it flipped.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well, I can't wait for the $2000 LCD screen to come flying off of that thing the next time you take a spill
- f1gm3nt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0After you start watching, you start to ponder what would happen if he hits something. Then he flips the thing. Great I love this thing.
- tacom8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that thing is slick, would be the perfect bar toy next to the golf simulator at sports bars. slap a nascar sticker on it and its worth its weight in gold...

- thechitowncubs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool
- MightyGiant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just think how awesome tetris would be in that thing.
- MasterDwarf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*best Keanu Reeves*
Whoa. - dragoonz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can this machine simulates a real feeling when getting shot?
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it looked like fun till it jumped 4 feet to the right...scary
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks like the dude almost got killed by his machine at the end there. hilarious!
- brett.evans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone know where the simulator itself is from?
- cfazzini, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Neat.
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks interesting but alot of the movements are over exagerated by quite a bit...and where the hell will we put it?
This kind of thing is something that could bring life back to arcades, which makes me wonder why companies like Sega the once and forever king of arcade gaming arent coming out with these things! - brett.evans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how about a link?
- jimmyM, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i'm gonna need that device mounted to some sort of simulated female genitalia receptacle.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WOW!
- Sculptor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Too bloody awsome.
- phobet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh man, that was sweet! Screw the downstairs neighbors! I want one!
- Squeegee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At the end, the dude should have been wearing a helmet! Or at least some sort of neck brace. If I had the cash flow, I would
get it. I am a big fan of the racing simulations (as well as
flying) - Jasoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I totally want to play Mario Kart on that.
- Pureeviljester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^ Agreed
Lol! That was sweet!
"Cool, now how about one for FPS? ;)"
Who the heck wan't to simulate being shot? - BPShirase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0don't most of the nascar teams have them? I remember it's one of the few that have clutch pedals. and have the clutch and brake mounted upside down.. (like in a regular vehicle/ most game controllers have the brake mounted like the accelerator)
- Rubicon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hook me UP !!!!!
- compacho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is this funniest thing ever
- ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"if it's so expensive why is he playing it in what looks like an abandoned crack house?"
True, you would have least thought the video would have been decent quality for something so expensive. - j0c1f3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old news....read it on here LOOOONG ago....still have that vid saved on my PC to show my wife before christmas.... =D
- aprocter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if it's so expensive why is he playing it in what looks like an abandoned crack house?
- dodger2020, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And it's not a video like some tool suggested above. It's Richard Burn's Rally.
- andreizilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll dig it, not because the video is cool or anything, but because someone actually built this. Dugg strictly out of principle.
Anyway, without the G-forces it probobly doesn't feel any more real then wabling back and fourth in your seet when you play the game on teh computer. - donnie_dark0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bhahaha.... the effect is almost there, now you just need the Glass Blaster 3000 that will propel bits of glass at your face at the appropriate speed... oh, and some crumple zones that will flex inward and snap your legs like twigs.
- Phasm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lmao, that was AWESOME!
Me thinks that needs to be bolted to the floor though ;)
I bet some Mech games would totally rock using this simulator! All the movements like walking.. then shooting a huge gun.. schweet. /drool - IraqManiac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"OMFG, I just spent like six minutes replaying the end. That is ***** hilarious, I don't give a damn about the machine itself."
I'll take the machine, you can have the video!!! lol - Soma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I WAS going to ask what happens when you wipeout...
- Kentdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A little creepey
- bossm4n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Typical nerd. That's probably the only piece of furniture in his apartment. Very cool though.
- SirThom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0AWESOME!
