- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29I smoke that fast. Denis Leary FTW.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25This is not really a list of the "best" mistakes. They seem more random than anything else, and seem to focus specifically on movies enjoyed by young college students (Lord of the Rings, the Matrix, etc). Pretty ***** link, if you ask me.

There were Nickelodeons before the kids' network:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickelodeon_movie_theater
The name "Nickelodeon" was coined by Harry Davis and John P. Harris, who opened their small, storefront theatre under that name on Smithfield Street in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in June of 1905. Though theirs was not the first theatre in the world to specialize in presenting movies, Davis and Harris found such great success with their operation that their concept of a five cent theatre running movies continuously was soon imitated by hundreds of ambitious entrepreneurs, as was the name of the theatre itself.
SO in the movie Jack just meant he saw a movie
EDIT:
What's up with digg not liking the link? If you copy/paste it works just fine - adjustafresh, on 10/12/2007, -22/+37Wow, a continuity mistake with a cigarette - That's Hillarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who the Hell cares? - SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17You like the video's what?
- carn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Huh, well thanks for clearing that up. I just looked up the quote and he says "in a nickelodeon" not "on nickelodeon" like I assumed. Teaches me to be uneducated.
- danmanx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Guys, can we all agree that you can't upload a virus to an alien spaceship? Regardless of Mac or PC, the entire 'virus' premise was completely idiotic. Even my non computer-oriented friends were like 'huh?'.
- general13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9That site design makes my eyes bleed.
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Yeah, and start with the premise of the movie, then continue with every plot event supporting that premise.
- Psych77, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Only in the US - they changed the title as it was thought most people in the US wouldn't understand the meaning of "Philosopher".
- wizalt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"The lake that Jack told Rose he went ice fishing on when she was threatening to jump is Lake Wissota, a man-made lake in Wisconsin near Chippewa Falls (where Jack grew up). The lake was only filled with water in 1918 when a power company built a dam on the Chippewa River, six years after the Titanic sank."
That Jack was a liar. - jasper976, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7check out all the erors in Independence Day
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116629/goofs - FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7These are faily typical...wouldn't call them the 'best' or 'worst' or anything
- moofer, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14"Wow, a continuity mistake with a cigarette - That's Hillarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who the Hell cares?"
Wow. You're an ass hole. The guy's just calling out a continuity mistake that he noticed in a fairly popular movie. This post is about continuity mistakes, and he posted one. Crawl back under your rock. - wordfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8You made the same mistake this listmaker did - see, Rose was so changed by her encounter with Jack, that when she figured out he made up the lake, she went on to found a power company and have it built in his honor. It's only the second most touching aspect of the film. (The first being the gratuitous waste of an old lady who wanted to make sure no one else got their filthy hands on her diamond).
- JazzFlight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I just took a university course on Martin Scorsese films, and I must say he has a ton of continuity errors in terms of characters' food/cigarettes/posture changing between cuts.
Great films, though. I guess he just doesn't care about nitpicking this kind of stuff. - armbar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8This isn't English class, but you probably should have gone at some point in your life.
- tical2756, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Frink: Yes, over here, m-hay, m-haven... in episode BF12, you were battling Barbarians while riding a winged apoluser (?) yet in the very next scene my dear, you're clearly atop a winged arabian! Please do explain it!
Lucy Lawless: Uh, yeah, well whenever you notice something like that.. a wizard did it!
Frink: Yes, alright, yes, in episode AG04..
Lucy Lawless: Wizard!
Frink: Oh for glaven out loud.. - FriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The Matrix was probably the film with the most errors, they did a special on it on the news a couple of years back. My favorite is the part when they're about to go into the Oracles apartment and the camera zooms in on the doorknob and there is a clear reflection of the camera lens making the shot.
- ProfessorRiffs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4People just got too much dang ol free time on their hands.
- northjersey78, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Like in Jurassic Park when there are dinosaurs all over the island...DINOSAURS DON'T EVEN EXIST!!
OMGZ MOVIE MISTAKE! - isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Did this site used to be free with no signup, as far as viewing the screenshots go? Oh well.
Edit: actually, go to http://www.moviemistakes.com/best_pictures.php to see the pictures. - Jerkpie, on 03/03/2009, -0/+3Near the end of the movie Anaconda, the waterfall goes flows upwards while the boat leaves.
- lhnz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Those aren't mistakes though? The physics is meant to be unrealistic. It makes it more exciting.
I think you missed the point. - RudMan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6How about SW Episodes 1,2 and 3? That entire trilogy was a huge mistake......
- frant1c, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5What surprises me here is that someone actually saw Titanic more than once (and keeps doing it).
- slampaladino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My favorite are the porn bloopers. I can't count how many times I hear the girl moan and panting, yet there she is with a sausage down her throat.
Or after a facial, they switch camera views and her hair is good, her face is clean, and Pete North still has his zipper up.
Hollywood doesn't know what it's doing obviously. - Canthros, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Appaloosa is the breed of horse you're looking for there.
- ROFLance, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6That Titanic one shouldn't have been on the list... it's a historical error that probably nobody but a few people in the entire country would've known. The others are good though.

Sucks to be one of us dumb Americans. - LLLSecretChimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Continuity is boring." Peter Greenaway
http://petergreenaway.co.uk/quotes.htm - eonblu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'd comment about the list, but I suffered an epileptic seizure from the flashing advertisement. Seriously though, my head hurts.
- adjustafresh, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10More hard-hitting stories from our news media. Edward R. Murrow would be proud.
- Ryetronics, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Wake me up when this is over. Continuity errors that have no adverse affect on the story are boring.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7maybe you should learn the proper usage of the apostophe...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2These are not significant. How about some serious mistakes?
- mwitlo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4number 4 on the list of greatest mistakes- Charlie's Angel's????? Who cares, most of the details are unclear, this website is alright but mostly just lame.
- loquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I recall seeing a fly disappear into one of the baddies' mouths on board the DeathStar in Star Wars. The way they cut it it looks like the fly jumps into the dude's mouth.
- baxtermaddux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2can someone make a youtube compilation of this please! that i would DIGG
- Psych77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And also in Spartacus.
- HeartlessNobody, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Was that an attempt at Haiku?
- weddle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wow, I didn't know this was an English class.
- Magistrate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg for the Star Wars one. I've never seen that, but now I really want to. ;)
- jshusta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how about that part in resevoir dogs where harvey keitel pretends to light a cigarette from two or three inches away right in the middle of a scene? it never flares or smokes a single bit. he even acts like he's blowing smoke. the camera doesn't cut away until a few seconds later.. and i think even then it's still not lit.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1is a stone like a rock?
- Rsulliv1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe it was mentioned in the Pretty as a Picture: the art of David Lynch DVD. I just took a look online and couldn't find anything to back my claim... sorry.
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can't blame it solely on the editor either, they may need to use a particular shot, even though it has some inconsistency in it, because the camera man screwed up any other takes, or the director didn't want to reshoot that scene and given them no choice, or the visual-effects people were too busy to remove the sign, or.. [etc]
Anyway, there aren't particular "the best movie mistakes of all time", quite a few are extremely common mistakes
- Ben - spurton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OK, here are some good ones I found.
First: Kingpin http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116778/ the scene where Woody Harrelson is flossing with his hook hand you can fully see him holding it with his real hand under his sleeve in the mirror, hillarious.
Second: Tucker, The Man and His Dream http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096316/ One of the last scenes where they drive a caravan of his cars into town. You can see the camera moving on tracks and camera crew running along side in one of the cars' reflections plain as day.
Third: Twins http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096320/ The scene where Arnold and Danny are in the bathroom at the bar and talking, there is a beer bottle that moves from one towel dispenser to the other several times at different camera shots. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On Tuesday I went to bed at 10.30. Then i had lunch, woke Up at 6.30, Caught the train home and had corn flakes for breakfast...
- lgc90, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ rockforever,
"Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" is actually the original British title of the 1st book, and presumably the movie too. Philosopher was changed to Sorcerer for the American version. -
