- Schug, on 10/12/2007, -5/+107Why does everyone forget Gambit!? The one thing that made me angry about the movies was Gambit not bein in it.
- SaintDogbert, on 10/12/2007, -7/+53They left Shoeverine (the mutant with shoes for hands) off the list.
- technonoob, on 10/12/2007, -7/+42Damn
look who got edged out of the top 25 AGAIN
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/6305362998.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg - melanko, on 10/12/2007, -6/+34No Gambit! Cyclops #1?! Shenanigans!
- chesterjosiah, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30I think they spelled Gambit wrong. It's G-A-M-B-I-T not K-I-T-T-Y P-R-Y-D-E. And the pic is screwed up too, he's a awesome dude, not some girl. Oh, and he wasn't supposed to be in there at #3, he was supposed to be #1. I should report it as inaccurate. ;-)
Dugg anyway. :-) - Silencer7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27that's because he's not an X-Man, he's a XXX-Man.
- cobalt137cc, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29Gambit should be number one. He should have at least made the list. His explosive card throwing power to his ridiculous French accent make him the best mutant ever. So underrated.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+32I'm the jugganaut biiiiiitch!
- RichPowers, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26It's funny how comic books are still considered geeky, even when millions of people are reading some pulp novel about cryptic Da Vinci paintings and Catholic conspiracies...
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28I know! I mean, he threw explosive cards! HOW COOL IS THAT!?!?
- alxdman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22Where's Gambit???
- roastedbagel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18Good list, however don't agree with #s's 5-1 in the order of which they are. I don't think #3 should be where she is.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20Where are the Chinese mutants? Where are the Ainu, the Uigur, the Bantu, the Polynesian, the Arab, the Maori, the Amazonian mutants? This can't be a coincidence.
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -9/+21I agree, roastedbagel. It's a decent list but there's no way this Kitty chick is cooler than Iceman, Magneto, and Nightcrawler.
That said, Cyclops will always be the coolest. A lot of people like Wolverine, but he doesn't shoot LASERS out of his EYES... ALL THE TIME. Too bad he's kind of bitchy sometimes.
I like when they make characters that are super overpowered and have to make them work within the framework of the comic - cyclops, superman, black bolt... - titanass, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17There is no way that Wolverine is not number one or atleast top 3. He's by far the most well known and liked off all the Xmen and possibly the only one who could have his own movie and it do very well.
- Overdose, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12He did make an appearance..... or atleast his name. it was on the computer, with the list of mutants.
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"his ridiculous French accent" Try cajun accent.
New Orleans, proud to swim home. - as2003, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Yeah, where the hell is he? He is by far the coolest.
Please join me in clicking the email link at the top of the article to complain about this travesty! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15I think the main reason was because Wolverine was the tough outsider. Gambit would have overcomplicated the plot.
- pjack91, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14What about the goddamn juggernaut?
"I'm gonna kill you and I'm gonna rape you, and I'm gonna eat your costume"
-the juggernaut, bitch - HouseofEl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10This isn't a list of the "coolest" or the most popular. This is also dealing with the way the character is written right now. With Joss Weadon's run in the comics and other major stories right now, this list is SPOT ON.
- Shoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Quicksilver was the shining example of a villain turned good."
I guess that whole "House of M and being responsible for 91% of the mutant population losing their powers" thing isn't enough to get someone really bumped off the list.
And not to ruin your day, but Gambit is no longer on the X-Men: he's Apocalypse's horseman of Death and is no longer good and and and AAARGH *spills nerd all over his keyboard* - jnorris441, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16Every once in a while I feel geeky for having a tech job, but then I remember somewhere adults are reading comic books.
- kriegs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I was thinking the same thing, where's gambit?
- Ayreos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I agree. Gambit is my favorite.
I'm going to be very upset if they have an entire mutant war in #3 and Gambit doesn't show up. They better not mess this up. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I still can't believe they left gambit out of x3
- bemenaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Gambit has always been my favorite. The Rogue and Gambit offshoot series, where they go back to New Orleans, and Gambit charges the guy and throws him out the window to explode on the front lawn.
I have always like Cyclops, Wolverine is probably the most liked, but is too shallow for me. With most of them, you get a conflict internally they all have to deal with. Wolverine's only conflict is whether or not he is going to kill you. - Presentlight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This review of Xmen characters seems to be based on the character's loyalty to "The Dream."
- fowleryo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7i think it's an opinion; he's not actually revealing anything from the article.
and the fact that you made it all the way to the bottom to presumably give him a negative digg is pretty lame.
read the article next time. - soleblazer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Seriously, Gambit was always my fave....the cartoon had something to do with that, but the Gambit mini series was very good too.
- losvedir, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Absolutely! My favorite Xman by far. I think because of that Xmen game way back in the day for that one system....
- steve693, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10No Gambit!? =(
- Flavius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Crap list...where the hell is Forge? And I'm with the others who think Gambut should have been there. If this list considered all incarnations, continuities, etc of the X-Men, there's no way Gambit doesn't rate. Gambit was brought on to knock Wolverine down a peg or two, as his popularity was being stretched far too thin (even back then)...and for the most part, he succeeded.
- Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Cyclops is not super-overpowered. He is a way overhyped sissy.
- chozsun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6They even included the AOA versions and left out the one that could pwned all mutants in any reality: AOA's Iceman.
AOA's Iceman is everything that 616 Iceman is not: strong confident and without equal in power.
Rundown of his powers beyond ice sleds and snowballs:
1. Using the moisture in the Earth's atmosphere to freeze and rearrange the molecules of his teammates to transport them to the other side of the world.
2. Easily freezes off the heads of his opponents.
In the 616 universe, White Queen revealed the unlimited possibilities of what Iceman was capable of doing. One example is that Iceman learned to keep the psionic powers of others by specifically slowing down the bloodflow of to their brains. This was surely without a doubt realized by AOA's Iceman since Magneto taught his team to push themselves to the breaking point when their powers were concerned.
AOA is something they need to revisit and work on the limits of AOA's Iceman's powers. - KameleonZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I thought that was a pretty good list. Considering the criteria, I would have been pretty upset had Cyclops not taken the number one spot. He's never been the most popular but he's been around, chasing the dream since X-men #1. Although he's always been my favorite, obviously, if this was an X-men Popularity Contest, he wouldn't be close to the top--Wolverine or Gambit would obviously have surpassed him.
- cinder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Apparently, only about two people read the introduction to the list. This list is not a popularity contest.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Face it, Wolverine made the X-Men. Look at comic prices: Wolverine is the big $$$. Not just as an X-Man, but one of the top Marvel characters of all time. Cyclops makes a guest appearance and no one notices.
So I have to ask, Cyclops at #1!? Who came up with this? - devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6wow, good call, i totally forgot about gambit! I feel so much shame! He was totally my favorite back in the X-Men TV show.
- Kytin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7What typos the speeling is fin in hear
- games396, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10i agree Gambit should have been number one no bull crap Cyclops
- demonicume, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5umm Gambit is the man, mon cher. cyclops is a little bitch. wolverine oulda cleaned his clock a thousand times already...
- zirtbow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Madrox would get sued by the RIAA if he existed.... why the heck is he #20?
- purezero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The reason Gambit isn't in the movies, is because he is a favorite X-men character, and so they said they wanted to give him a proper part. There was just so many new mutants in the movies, that if they put Gambit in it he wouldn't have gotten a very important role. He will be in the next movies (because this ISN'T the last movie).
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4A good place to start would be this torrent:
http://www.torrentz.com/torrent_658434.html
It's not an entirety for the universe, but it sure is a damn good run of comics. It's actually what got me back into them last year. - xhadow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually he was in X2 well in name anyway his name "Remy LeBeau" is on one of the list on a computer.
- browwiw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Because Gambit finally got to put it to Rogue. HE GOT TO SCREW ROGUE AND NOT DIE!
After that, ***** top 25 lists. The Cajun knows where it's at. - AlanOfDale, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Ms Kitty should even be in the top 100 let alone number 3. WTFO??????? Nightcrawler will always be my favorite. I love the way he played with everyones minds in his early forms.
- chadu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i do like forge! good call.
- Beelzebub, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I like the description of #21's powers: "...being a bitch"
