The Millenium Falcon is not a freighter. It's a passenger ship. There is no cargo hold. A few hidden compartments for smuggling does not constitute a hold. And a parsec is a unit of distance (3.26 lightyears), not time. And there is no sound in space. And Serenity definitely should have been on this list. They could have kicked out the ship from The Last Starfighter. I mean, come on. Its secret weapon is that it spins around and shoots its lasers randomly like a 2-year-old playing Asteroids.
OK - here's what's missing
1)The two spaceships from the original Flash Gordon series: why? because while they may look like Model-Ts today, they were state-of-the-art when they debuted. I know they weren't the first, but they have held interest thru seven decades.
2) Queen Amidala's very sleek spaceship.
3) The spaceship in Forbidden Planet
4) The spaceship in The Day the Earth Stood Still
I don't disagree on any particular point. But where is Serenity! And please don't use the series against her. She was in the best damn movie of last year.
Sucky list. Fools. The Death Star DOES count as a spaceship - it could travel into hyperspace (damn you Lucas! why didn't we ever see that happen?!) And I personally think The Doctor's TARDIS counts but may just be in a class all its own.
Really sucky list but still, very diggable because this is a fun thing to debate.
Now, great *anime* spaceships... I'll start the list with a few but let the fighting begin:
1) Sol Bianca (Sol Bianca)
2) Exelion (Gunbuster: Aim For The Top!)
3) The Bebop (Cowboy Bebop)
4) Ryo-Ohki (Tenchi Muyo)
Explorers an the Last Starfighter? Those are two of the worst space ships ever!
Some of my favorites:
1) Mothership from Close Encounters of the Third Kind
2) E.T.'s Space Ship
3) SDF-1
4) Dark Star
5) That ship in Battle Beyond the Stars that looks like a pair of titties
6) Red Dwarf
7) The TARDIS
8) Battlestar Galactica
9) The Face of Zardoz
10) VGER
The Asguard Mother ships from Stargate SG1
The Babylon 5
The Jupiter II from Lost in Space
The Event Horizon
The Borg Cube or Sphere from Star Trek: First Contact
Voyager with the Shield Plating from the final episode of Star Trek: Voyager
Uh yeah, nice list.. but I ask - Where is the Firefly from the Firefly Series?!
Yeah... I have to say, out of all the ships, I wanna be on that sweet ride...
