- Darko, on 09/16/2009, -1/+18Digg, brought to you by "The Informant!".
- RachelJTM, on 09/16/2009, -1/+8Oceans!
- Aynoori, on 09/16/2009, -1/+7I like his movies, The Informant! is decidedly unconventional, a major release that goes willfully against the grain. I like it that way.
- kawaic, on 09/16/2009, -0/+6Fail. does not include Schizopolis.
- innocentsinner, on 09/17/2009, -0/+5Yea, I can think of at least ten other Sasha Grey movies I'd rather watch.
- Skeevey, on 09/16/2009, -2/+7What a great filmmaker, I became a fan of his in the late 90's when I was first getting into filmmaking, he is a talented dude. He shot parts of full frontal with a canon xl1 video camera and other parts with 16mm, that is impressive, you have to look for it to notice. Thanks for the list...good share.
- Rollic, on 09/16/2009, -1/+5Dugg for giving some love to the under-heralded Underneath,
- captininsanity, on 09/16/2009, -1/+5Is it just me or does it seem like digg is getting paid to front page some of this stuff...
- Scottathon, on 09/16/2009, -0/+3Where's the love for Solaris? It's not fair to call it a remake; Soderbergh's and Tarkovsky's films are two distinct interpretations of the book.
- danno147, on 09/17/2009, -1/+4He's only directed about 25 feature films. A top 10 out of 25 seems ridiculous.
- goomba323, on 09/16/2009, -1/+3The Girlfriend Experience was the worst movie I've ever seen...
- RiperSnifle, on 09/19/2009, -0/+1This is all wrong.
10. Solaris
9. Ocean's 12
8. The Limey
7. Schizopolis
6. Ocean's 13
5. Out of Sight
4. Erin Brokovich
3. Che (1 and 2)
2. Ocean's Eleven
1. Traffic
But there should be another list including movies that he's produced as well, which would include I'm Not There, Michael Clayton, A Scanner Darkly, etc. - SigmaDraconis, on 09/17/2009, -1/+2Michael Clayton made me respect Clooney more as an actor.
- jonnyboy1544, on 09/16/2009, -3/+4Che sucked. Plain and simple. Oceans 11 was way better
- Kunohara, on 09/17/2009, -1/+2*Shrug* I thought Che was good, just saw it the other day. Made me want to know more about the guy.
- mediaphile, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1You may have not liked them, but the films didn't suck. Taste is not a criteria for critique of a film.
- Mroutrageous, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1Yeah that movie really gets a bad rep but it's one of the reasons I got into Film making.
- jbat24, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1the first Che was fine, second one not so much. also The Girlfriend Experience sucked ass.
- TwenT4, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1What's with King of the Hill getting no love? Been a favourite movie of mine since i was a kid, way before i knew who Soderbergh was.
- Dignan666, on 09/17/2009, -1/+2Whatever. How about a top 20 Soderbergh list because then we could include every feature length movie he has made. The dude is 46. Can we at least wait till he actually retires before oh so selectively picking out HALF his body of work and calling it his best?
- randmcnally, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1yeah but honestly taste this: The Limey sucked.
pew, bad.
there were some good movies on the list but there was no need for a top 10 soderbergh list, narrowing it down to 5 would have been a better read. - trav3135, on 09/17/2009, -0/+0traffic is amazing, the rest i either have not seem or are just good movies. but many years from now people will remember traffic.
- pbgswd, on 09/17/2009, -1/+1Kafka
Disappointing and gloomy Soderbergh film that serves no purpose whatsoever. Irons plays Kafka, an insurance workers by day and a writer by night. The movie exists largely without interest until Kafka uncovers an office conspiracy and makes his way to the enemy's castle headquarters. From then on, "Kafka" is nothing but a conventional horror film. Irons is wasted in a role that requires nothing but an impeccable British accent. - inactive, on 09/17/2009, -2/+2Thanks for keeping Clooney's smug cloud alive.
- Kruse, on 09/17/2009, -1/+1I'm pissed Solaris is not on that list.
- DarthVolta, on 09/16/2009, -1/+1Saw The Informant on Monday via an AV Club early screening, and it was very enjoyable. But my god, the early 1990's were a terrible time period.
- sotbat2, on 09/17/2009, -2/+1Ocean's 12 is better than 11. Watch it again, I didn't like it as much the first time I saw it either, but it's so much more fun visually and story-wise.
- niradg, on 09/17/2009, -2/+1I would have put The Limey First, Out of Sight second. SL&V probably seemed groundbreaking at the time, but doesn't hold up as well today. Traffic is too sprawling, and the narrative element suffers because of that.
- Dignan666, on 09/16/2009, -5/+4As talented as he may be, we're hardly ready for a top 10 films of Soderbergh list. Get back to us in 20 years.
Oh and even in 20 years, Out of Sight will still deserve to be #1. - orangefly, on 09/17/2009, -2/+1yeah....i'd actually rather watch jj abrams crapfests than this list....
- mediaphile, on 09/17/2009, -2/+1He's been talking about soon approaching the end of his career. I'm sure everybody goes through that, but there just might not be another 20 years left in him.
- orangefly, on 09/17/2009, -5/+2all sucked!
- Grymus, on 09/16/2009, -8/+5Geezzz.. What a load of suck-ass films
Buried - BoOtto, on 09/17/2009, -4/+1Buried. Has he even made many more than 10 films? The Informant hasn't even been seen yet. Every other movie on that list except Traffic was a complete piece of garbage.
