Chuck Norris vs Bruce Lee in Return of the Dragon
Matt Damon vs Joey Ansah in The Bourne Ultimatum - drvelocity, on 10/10/2007, -9/+26Star Wars episode II? Are you ***** kidding me? I don't think the "top cinematic showdown of all time" could possibly come out of a steaming dog ***** pile of a movie, let alone even hit the top ten. Whoever wrote this needs to graduate from middle school.
- MrLazySmurf, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18That is a damn good question. I like Ripley vs. Alien But Arnold vs. Predator was badass. Terminator vs. T-1000 (come on, awesome!!) Jet Li vs. White twins from Kiss of the Dragon Onk Bak!!!!!! The Protector!!!!!! I'm going insane as these pop into my head, i don't even think #1 should be up there. If anything it should be Obi Wan vs. Darth Maul. or Obi Wan vs. Anakin This list SUCKED!!!!! Buried for inaccuracy, or just being lame.!!!
Just thought of this onE!!!! Gizmo vs. Evil Gremlin Leader!!! I had goosebumps. - TheGonzo, on 08/13/2008, -4/+15what about Great Taste Vs. Less Filling?!?!?!?
- quisph, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9That was a terrible fight scene, poorly paced, monotonous, and predictable. It was completely out of character for Yoda -- Yoda in a fight should stand still like a real Kurosawan samurai, moving only when necessary, instead of whirling around and bouncing off the walls like Daffy Duck. The unintentional comedy of this is perhaps the only reason the scene is worth watching.
- LordSkywalker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Do you think that is air you're breathing?
- joshtj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8If Digg has to be flooded with top# lists, we could at least get some quality. Filmschoolrejects is indeed an apt domain for such an article. Buried as lame.
- HiCaP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The shootout scene from the movie Heat coming out of the bank, Damn. That's a showdown.
- palustris, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I do have to say.. "showdown" without westerns? Seriously? Goodbadugly is probably one of the greatest showdowns in cinema history.
For other great western showdowns...
Tombstone - Earps Vs. Clantons at the OK Corral
Once Upon A Time In The West - Charles Bronson Vs. Goons at the train station
The Shootist - John Wayne Vs. three gunfighters and a bartender - quisph, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Who are these idiots? Dirty Harry never said "make my day" to the Scorpio killer. The famous line from that standoff is "You've got to ask yourself a question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?" The "make my day" line is from Sudden Impact, the fourth film in the series.
- protogenes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6How can it be of all time if it only starts in the 70's? Buried
- DeadSkinMask, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6What About:
Roy Munson Vs. Ernie McCracken ? - Thex1138, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6What about Indiana Jones Punching it up with the Bald German at the plane in Raiders...before the German got spliced n diced by the engine rotor blade..
- Error601, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5How about:
Butch and Marsellus - Pulp Fiction
Travis Bickle and the pimps - Taxi Driver
Several in Blade Running
Carrie vs everyone - TrevorBelmont, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Luke and vader were on the list.
- Optimaximal, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Nobody doubts the movie was *****, but come on... We have Yoda fighting Christopher Lee! Ok, Yoda was a CGI shadow of his former self and Christopher Lee was auto-munted by being a Sith, but I can't think of anyone that didn't at least enjoy the scene, if not whoop when Yoda started jumping around like a muppet on acid.
Plus, Dooku cut Christenssens arm off - that gives the scene props regardless! - MaxSand, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Eastwood and Gian Maria Volonte in A Fistful of Dollars; and Lee Van Cleef and Gian Maria Volonte in For a Few Dollars More.
- robflm256, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Yoda vs Dooku at #1? They need to get their priorities straight.
- Error601, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Almost forgot the final showdown in Leon/The Professional.
- Thex1138, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5What's the first rule about Fight Club?
Not to talk about fight club!
Tyler Durden vs Tyler Durden - kingcam, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5How about the snipers in enemy at the gates... whole damn movie is dedicated to their showdown!
Bill Gates vs. Steve Jobs in Pirates of Silicon Vally (I know we all love that one, this is digg)
As a sidebar this list really does suck, even in comparison to some of the other lists that are starting to pop up on digg. - xrenjrvt, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5you need some Ritalin
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Good first two.
Anways, to add to you list
Micheal Corleane vs. the chief of police and solozzo. - Sornos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4No scenes from Equilibrium? Some good'uns there.
- LordSkywalker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Numbers 1 and 5 should be swapped.
- SteelAuger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Dennis Weaver and his '71 Plymouth Valiant vs. crazy trucker with a rusty Peterbilt. Oh, yes.
- cuoops, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Matthew Broderick and WOPR
- merrickx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Negative. This is THE BEST showdown ever. A.C. Slater and Zach Morris.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n3g2JKQxJ8&mode=related&search= - kingcam, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I can't believe that you got dugg down for a Kingpin reference. Kingpin is quite possibly the funniest movie of all time.
- TrevorBelmont, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Obi Wan vs. Darth Maul was pretty bad ass. Sometimes I forget, seeing as that spectacular fight was framed with poo.
- theblooms, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Josey Wales vs. the Red Legs.
"Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle 'Dixie'?"
- Lister169, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2King Arthur vs. The Black Knight from Holy Grail.
Philo Beddoe vs. Tank Murdoch in Every Which Way But Loose.
River vs the whole bar in Serenity - NormalVisual, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Can't believe Indiana Jones vs. the swordsman in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" isn't on there.
- Monkeybrains, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3It should have included Deckard getting smacked around by Roy Batty in Bladerunner. Still one of my favorites.
- musicmeister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Worst. list. ever.
- cRmtIMe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1what about these guys?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blBRm1O6U9o - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1And didn't I tell you to call me Ernie, or Big Ern?!
- Drexel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How about Sho Kosugi and that other guy in the rooftop battle in Revenge of the Ninja? Also, Bruce Leroy and Sho-Nuff from The Last Dragon? (Yeah I watched alot of cheesy ninja/kung-fu movies when I was younger)
- rockrapdude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Lee, Abernathy Kim and Zoë vs Stuntman Mike in Death Proof?
- undauntedspirit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The movie wasn't worth much but the final Showdown between Smith and Neo in the Matrix Revolutions was an awesome fight scene.
- paulisnotdead, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2What about Predator?
- 4ster, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2T2 (the entire movie was a showdown)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Anything by Tarantino is a better showdown than anything on this list. Especially Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs.
- danconia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1IMO 1 and 4 should be swapped and the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly should be #2.
- chicagospur, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) and Jaws.
- 3lijah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1King Kong vs. 3 T-Rexes would be my number 1.
- eggstar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I was expecting the end (multiple) fight scene in "Wheels on Meals"...
- schizogony, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4I cried the first time I saw Yoda fight Dooku.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Buried as inaccurate for not including the 3-way Mexican standoff from Reservoir Dogs.
- Karyyk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2No Digg. Not even a mention of the showdown in They Live, the fight so awesome it inspired South Park's "cripple fight."
