- gcnaddict, on 10/10/2007, -5/+45The Simpsons movie was actually good. their new script writers aren't half bad.
I think I saw a little too much of Bart though... - kingamoon, on 10/10/2007, -6/+37The title of the article is a little confusing. It sounds like he's saying the Simpsons (TV show) is/was better than the movie.
Anyway, the movie was fan-*****-tastic. I give it 78/78. - Theipolicy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30Spider-pig epic music. Stay for the credits people.
- Myst3r1o, on 10/10/2007, -8/+29I've waited nearly 20 years for The Simpsons Movie and boy was the wait worth it!
- gcnaddict, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21Don't talk too loud. Pedobear might hear you.
- SilverSpoon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Too much for some, too little for others...
- Mongo61, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15How about Airplane, Kentucky Fried Movie, the Naked Gun series, Monty Python and the Holy Grail?..
- gcnaddict, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13The credits were ***** hilarious. I never thought I'd say that about *any* movie.
- anagoge, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14I found it incredibly strange that the when I went to see the movie, the whole audience actually applauded when the credits rolled out of appreciation.
- aydoubleyou, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14I've been waiting for a Simpsons movie digg.
I saw it yesterday and it really met my expectations. I knew it was going to have some stupid "new era" Simpsons jokes, but it was still very funny. And very emotional too.
They really brought out a lot of the characters in the movie, it makes you feel apart of Springfield. Go see it. And don't steal it from Evergreen Bay. - jsballardx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Your rating system intrigues me and I wish to purchase it.
- deanypop, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14I'm inviting all digg-downs, but it's just the Simpsons. It's not "The Simpsons Movie". It's just an extra-long episode, that could've had more impact with a few edits/cuts. But then, it'd just be an awesome double-length episode...
Basically, the script (and final product) come off like a big bold two parter they couldn't get past the network for whatever reason... Truly nothing that makes this "need" to be on the big screen, or that feels* cinematic.
Not trying to be too critical. Everything up until Alaska is a non-stop laugh attack, and a better episode than has graced TV in years. But, held to any kind of standard AS a movie, it really falls short. I'd be surprised if the amount of money in the budget that shows up on-screen (excluding cast pay, etc) is more than 5-6 times a normal episode.
Though, it really DID make me want a Family Guy movie to be made. THAT would be incredible. - yottabite, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Was there not a Family Guy Movie already?
I thought it was good too...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385690/ - MurderMystery, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9You are not the only person. Most of the jokes in the movie were simple one-liners, and the plot was lame as hell. (just tunnel under the dome you ***** retards) Overall, this movie is forgettable.
- squeetox, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12For me it was like a 13th season very long episode. OK, but not exxxcelent.
- dodgyd55, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8so far im the only person i know that thought it was average! i the normal episodes funnier
- vanza001, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9No. We didnt wait 18 years for the south park movie. It was just handed to us. The Simpsons movie lived up to the wait and thus is more epic than the South Park movie.
- gcnaddict, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Which part of the country do you live in? The AMC I went to near DC was roaring with laughter (especially from the girls when Bart... you know...)
- walkingdogs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I fully agree. It was raunch with lowest common denominator one liners. It was one of the most uninspired movies I have seen in a long time. I was highly disappointed. I laughed at the same points and a couple others but not much else. I was looking for so much more smart humor from the writers but instead was fed dumbed down humor for the simple minded.
- Jambi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5They were trying to kill everyone in the dome (by blowing up the dome and leaving a huge pit) in order to stop the American public from finding out that they'd put a dome over a whole city, and also to create a new Grand Canyon, since the old one was a bit boring. And yes, the plot was tedious, although a some of the jokes stood up well on their own. I wouldn't pay to see it again, that's for sure. Hollywood movies in general suck.
- Jambi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Well, they took it off of all the maps and GPS guides, so they figured people would be too dumb to notice anything had happened.
- dodgyd55, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5true and that also was average to not great
- dodgyd55, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4no you aren't the only person, yes same parts i laughed at plus the spider pig part and harry plopper, i was disappointed
- Obsession88, on 10/10/2007, -20/+24I'll ***** say it, I don't care!
"BEST MOVIE EVER!!" - Sixcolors, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Never thought I'd meet someone who remembered the Kentucky Fried Movie. "The popcorn you are eating has been pissed in, film at 11."
- SSCrow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I really enjoyed this Movie.
The major plot was nothing outstanding. But the humour and the jokes were just so hilarious.
I found myself almost crying in laughter throughout the entire film. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Very well written, and yes it was a good movie.
- jsballardx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yea, Family Guy is lame he was correct.
- saisumimen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3(panting) HAY GUYS, WHAT'S GOING ON IN THIS THREAD?
- solistus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5The South Park movie was probably the greatest movie adaptation of a cartoon comedy ever. I haven't seen The Simpsons Movie yet, but I hope to today.
- Slayerdude51982, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The movie was surprisingly good, I went in not knowing what to expect seeing all the previews and not being a huge fan of the recent stuff but this movie really harkens days of old.
- Typhoon2009, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6About to go see it with a pal, hope it's as good as I hear!
- doshindude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'm so glad the movie turned out good, I was getting scared because all the trailers were reusing the same gag over and over (spider pig....funny the first time, got really old after the 10th commercial)
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That's the bit i didn't quite get. They wanted to get rid of Springfield quietly and so no-one would notice but then advertised that everyone should go there as the giant hole, the exact same shape and size of Springfield, was the new grand canyon?
- Culero, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5it was an ok movie. I can't really say i've seen every single episode (of the newer ones, atleast), but I sure do appreciate the movie. What made it worse was having a grumpy GF in the chair next to me. They sure do know how to suck the life out of things don't they?
- doshindude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2the family guy movie was pure crap, it was a cheap cash in; they put 3 episodes together and called it a movie.......
- lookitsrobss, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5I was expecting alot more, but it still was pretty awesome.
- LordSlashstab55, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4good movie indeed!
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Agreed, especially about the plot part. What was the reason they were trying to kill everyone in the dome? I didn't quite understand the reason for it other than the fact it was bloody stupid
- SurlyDuff, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Amen brother...this happened to me at rescue dawn. "My feet are cold...I'm bored..." Dieter Dengler just saw escaped from a ***** POW camp where he ate maggots for 6 months STFU and stop complaining.
- karlatkinson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Agreed. It was perfection. Actually felt like a movie rather than just an extended episode.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Pedobear, NO!!!
- empressofmetal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1*Wait, who won ?* with how many spaces before that question mark?
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Because it's ever been good or it became crap in the last few seasons?
I know which one most people would agree with - SSCrow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Spoiler: You see Bart's Penis.
Its true! - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1As a Brit growing up, I used to think that American sitcoms were appallingly unfunny, and that the best comedy came from the UK...I think The Simpsons proves to us snobby Europeans that America has some of the wittiest and comedic writers in the world.
- theuber1337, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13.50 with free popcorn and drink, opening night. It's called a downtown theater, and I love it.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Man, that's quite a leap. Although, i guess i'm not complaining about the logistics of a city-sized, elephant-destructable glass dome so i'll let it slide :P
- quaxon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i dont think anybody was "waiting 18 years" for a simpsons movie (and if you were this is where i tell you to get a life). i was expecting an epic movie but it wasnt epic at all and just because the simpsons have been out for ever doesnt make the movie "epic." i think a big reason they made the movie is because the past few years of it have been awful and needed to generate interest in the franchise again. the movie didnt suck, but it just wasnt as great as people make it out to be and south park had many, many more laughs and you cannot deny that.
