1. There are only 3000 votes
2. Last week, the premiere in Vermont had several showings. Everybody (the vast majority at the very least) that went to the premiere is a huge Simpsons fan.
3. According to IMDB, the movie has opened publicly on Wednesday in 5 countries, and today (Thursday) in 15 countries. It would stand to reason that the people who saw it first are Simpsons fans, too.
4. The Simpson's is a huge cultural thing. Greatly successful on TV and DVD. It could possibly be top movie earner this year.
5. People will vote anything to make their favorite on the Top 250. And for that reason, the top 250 has become tainted.

The article is also a bit misleading I watched the movie 2 days ago in the cinema here in Malaysia on its premier (11:50am Malaysian Time, now it's Friday here).
